Look, I think everyone wants a platform, but not all of them realized that this time around the show would be a sort of rival for Roadies and the MTV shows. Its a TRP game that the channel is after and its recognition the bands are after. They need the exposure. In my opinion most of the bands this time are really bad, compared to last time when we saw some of the best bands in the country. This time its also got a lot of "new" bands that have just emerged.

You've just reinforced my point. A majority of the bands have got to be spectacularly naive if they think they have a shot of making the "bigtime" in a country like India. Faridkot will sell because they sing in Hindi and so will Cassini's to a lesser Pentagram-ish niche but the rest? Workshop, Reverse Polarity are too abrasive for the mainstream. But it's not even that. Ever notice how the Launchpad concept has revamped itself post-ROCK ON? It's a much more corporate, melodramatic...

..consumer-oriented gig now. Ever notice how the bands are being forced to speak in Hindi as rickety as it may be? The maudlin, unbearably cheesy "emotional" interludes every time something "dramatic" happens? I'm sorry but I'm terribly dissapointed if the upcoming crop of Indian bands are cool with this bullshit just so they can keep up unviable pipedreams for a bit longer.

But of course, they are spectacularly naive bands, have you SEEN them? Look, even the most seemingly widely accepted Indian rock bands like Parikrama or Indian Ocean are not really accepted into the "mainstream" per se, how many people really know about them. A lot of the bands here are college age people, who just want their 15 minutes of fame. A chance to be on Rolling Stone looks like a big deal to them even though its readership isn;t that huge in India and its quite a dodgy

consumer oriented mag. I agree with you completely. I was just trying to reason what the participants (some of whom, I have talked to) might be thinking. Like I said, with the bands speaking/playing in Hindi and the more dramatic approach, the channel is looking for a rival for Roadies and other reality shows.

Faridkot Bach gaye yaar !!! Well buckup guys ... Prachir really is a super band ... I think these Workshop people strike a theme But to be honest their Music really "doesnot" strike..... AT ALL.

& as I said before on the comeents on the last part ... A BAND like Blank noise is Full of talent & attitude But they just don't know the direction in which they are swimming ... BAD LUCK ---> Blank Noise ... My Opinion ---> You Rock (Hit the joint Harder next time)
