Nnamdi Asomugha played for the Raiders, that should tell you something. No. He could if he had to face them, he did lock up some of the WRs you named in 2009 and 2010. But Nnamdi never let Moss burn him and snag a TD, Nnamdi never got burnt by Harvin, Moss, or Ginn. Asomugha doesn't have trouble covering WRs like Revis does. I'm not taking anything away from Revis cause he is a shutdown corner but Asomugha is clearly better but played on an overall crappy team.

(Cont') Woodson straight up had an easy road to the award. He won't this year, though. This is not your father's NY Jets anymore. They're now a team that many teams love to hate and circle on their calender. In short, they're a "big game." Fans can thank Ryan for that. If Revis returns and continues to shutdown the games top WRs, and they again make the playoffs, he'll be D-MVP this year. No doubt.
Woodson? Last I checked, it wasn't Revis' Jets that got lit up through the air many times last year (incl. the playoffs), like Woodson's Packers. He was the best defender on the league's best air/total defense. He was robbed of the D-MVP award, because of the team he played for in my opinion. The Jets are not the type of NFL brand that the Pack are. They don't have their history, and weren't expected to be a force. Their players weren't favorites to win anything.

There were whispers in the air during Reevis second season, because people were saying that the Jets have this bad ass cornerback but no one could remember his name, but he made his mark this year with 31 pass deflections and 6 int's. He had 2 to 3 times or more pass deflections than any average or good corner you can think of in 2009 - that ain't luck.
Both are great and interchangable as best CB in the league. Revis has the athletism and agrressive body and Nnamdi plays very smart, just imagine if they were on the same team.

I was at this game!!! The way Peyton was hooking up with Tony Gonzalez was just scary. Other teams should be grateful that they don't have to defend against that deadly duo. Brees and Fitzgerald would also make a fascinating combo. I remember seeing Brees throw one from about the 40 into the endzone for a Fitz TD. It was cool to see something like that live.

Has Nnamdi Asomugha basically shut down Andre Johnson, Randy Moss, Marques Colston, Terrell Owens, Steve Smith, Roddy White, Reggie Wayne, and Chad Ochocinco all in one season? Nnamdi Asomugha played for the Raiders, that should tell you something. No. He could if he had to face them, he did lock up some of the WRs you named in 2009 and 2010. But Nnamdi never let Moss burn him and snag a TD, Nnamdi never got burnt by Harvin, Moss, or Ginn. Asomugha doesn't have trouble covering WRs like Revis does. I'm not taking anything away from Revis cause he is a shutdown corner but Asomugha is clearly better but played on an overall crappy team.

@dejonal Ok, he did get burnt by Harvin and Ginn, but on that one catch Moss had against Revis, Revis got hurt during the play. If Revis didn't tweak his hammy mid-play, Moss wouldn't have been catching that.

(Cont') Woodson straight up had an easy road to the award. He won't this year, though. This is not your father's NY Jets anymore. They're now a team that many teams love to hate and circle on their calender. In short, they're a "big game." Fans can thank Ryan for that. If Revis returns and continues to shutdown the games top WRs, and they again make the playoffs, he'll be D-MVP this year. No doubt.

Woodson? Last I checked, it wasn't Revis' Jets that got lit up through the air many times last year (incl. the playoffs), like Woodson's Packers. He was the best defender on the league's best air/total defense. He was robbed of the D-MVP award, because of the team he played for in my opinion. The Jets are not the type of NFL brand that the Pack are. They don't have their history, and weren't expected to be a force. Their players weren't favorites to win anything.

Ask any qb in the league they rather throw to single coverage over anything. Thats why alot of balls got throw to him because of rex ryan blitz scheme leaving revis in single coverage.

@NextWorldApparel its a zone blitz. he still gets help but i understand. and the raiders were in a zone when fitz caught the TD. you see nnamdi did his part in basically covering the zone. but once fitz turned, it was up to the linebackers to cover fitz in which they all got burned. the only thing i dont like about darelle is that he cares more about money than his team. while revis was on holdout, nnamdi was helping a darius heyward bey.

There were whispers in the air during Reevis second season, because people were saying that the Jets have this bad ass cornerback but no one could remember his name, but he made his mark this year with 31 pass deflections and 6 int's. He had 2 to 3 times or more pass deflections than any average or good corner you can think of in 2009 - that ain't luck.

I was at this game!!! The way Peyton was hooking up with Tony Gonzalez was just scary. Other teams should be grateful that they don't have to defend against that deadly duo. Brees and Fitzgerald would also make a fascinating combo. I remember seeing Brees throw one from about the 40 into the endzone for a Fitz TD. It was cool to see something like that live.

after this season Revis showed that he is definitely the best corner in the NFL. After him comes charles woodson and asante samuel....i dont think Nnamdi lived up to all the hype about him because he gave up alot of catches this season.
