theres no way all those fights were real matches, many were fake matches in po wrestling. No fighter in that era could have had that many nhb matches, thee wasnt enough competition.
These were indeed real fights, including stomps/headbutts/elbows/knees on the ground you name it. There were weekly tournaments held that were also broadcast in a TV show called 'Heroes do Ringue' in Brazil. Thats why they were able to hold such amazing records. There is footage for you to watch from this time era if you want to see how real Vale Tudo is.
@ParhamK i know all aboutthe vale tudo years apart from the gracies. It just doesnt make sense that someone could fight that many matches due to injuries without rules.Sounds very much like ricksons bullshit 400 matches which turned out to be 11 matches in reality and a bunch of grappling matches including his own students
@billysue2 The difference between these records and Ricksons BS record is that these are documented fights, not a made up number. And in these days it was common practice to fight even if you had "small" injuries and actually very normal.
@ParhamK i know vale tudo is real, ive watched it since before the first ufc on imported vhs tapes. What im disputing is that anyone could have 200 nhb matches in the time gomes spent active, hed have to have fought evry weekend for 4 yrs with hardly any weeks off and thats bare knuckle.
@billysue2 Actually it was normal for vale tudo fighters to have a fight every weekend. The show Heroes do Ringue used to show the same fighter competing weekend after weekend. Maybe injuries were less common because the usual match up was luta livre vs BJJ back then, and these were grappling styles.
