  • No I have the noise as soon as i turn on my cam. Its like the sound you get when switching on an old tv. But then constantly. My colleague, who is much older than me cant hear it because the pitch is very high. I find it irritating but i can live with the noise.

  • The corner sharpness is good at the wide range but very bad in the mid-range but recovers back in the telephoto end. Centre sharpness has improved from the non-OS though. The OS does not help with focusing much. The lens often turns a direction, stops and then starts again to get the subject into focus.

My problems are the extensive chromatic aberration at the wide angle especially.

  • yes.. I found out that all stabilizers will generate some kind of high frequency noise.

  • Mine hardly does. It used to but it's kinda weird that my stabilizer works when I switch it on, but then gives a better viewfinder image when I press the shutter halfway. I noticed the noise isn't as loud as it used to be.

  • yeah, the stabilizer (OS) noise.

this is normal, and I can live with that now. :)

  • mine is the HSM version and it hardly makes any noise

  • That's only for Nikon =(... Canon and Sigma users are stuck with no HSM...

  • My Sigma 18-200 OS makes different kind noise.

But anyway, this is a really good lens !
