almost like 15 or 20 less from all the adrenaline shoots he recieves while rescuing his brother... pff... such a waste of lifespam... i get sick everytime he reduces it on porpose

@quater2002 Umm guys think about it..the guys he's been fighting are on a completely different level like Gecko Moria so ofcourse hel will have to be at his best and that means gear second. Sadly, even though its awesome it does shorten his lifespan and he will have to use it until he thinks up something new or he just becomes immune to its effects like ichigo with bankai(it use to have an effect on his bones) or he might die using it :(

It began to shorten his lifespan by a tiny bit, but he's basically a master of Gear Second, so I don't think that's a problem anymore.

@magicortega I don't see the proof that a Pink Gomu Gomu No Cannon isn't the early stages of Gear 2 before he had developed it fully.

ok not a proof, but an argument. gear second just depends on the speed of the blood along luffy's body, using his legs helps him to make blood run faster. so, what is the relation about gomu gomu no canon and making blood going faster...?

@magicortega Do you think that if you were punching the same guy over and over and over using Gattling Cannon (which is pretty much hundreds of fists) that there is a slight chance the blood speed in your arms might, just might, increase? I'm not saying to the levels of Gear 2, but it definitely might get to a weakened early stage.

@quater2002 he didnt start learning it when he met enel, he started using it when he me Ao kiji and he lost so easily to him so he realised that they are going to encounter more strong people like Ao kiji so he had to get stronger

True, but if you look at his attack it's clearly an evolution of gear Second, in one of its first phases.

Just like Luffy hasn't mastered Haki yet, but he has shown signs of it. In the same way, Luffy showed signs of Gear 2 before he had learned it.

i don't think that was gear second at the franky house, that was just a technique he used, gomu gomu no cannon. The only time when he is seen "developing" it is in the 7th one piece movie, but that isn't canon.

And yet, he turned halfway pink and shot a giantish laser. Unclean, badly formed and not near ready, but yes it is the origins of Gear 2.

Just like when he blew himself up into a ball it was the origins of Gear 3, even if it's nowhere near Gear 3 itself.

Or how he's been using Haki for forever, and yet he has yet to really use any strong version of it.

luffy's been using his balloon technique since the east blue saga. i don't think it was a precursor to gear third. ur right about haki though, he has been unconciously using that for a while. but luffy does a jet gomu gomu no cannon attack, so it's different from his regular one. although gomu gomu no cannon is actually my favorite non-gear attack.
