Advanced Occlusion Block Tutorial

lol they are used to block out objects that ARE NOT supposed to be used in the map. Such as making a wall, the excess objects and w/e you used to male the wall with (say 50 items) gets blocked out, improving framerate.

cant you just cover the whole map with occlusion boxes beause thats what simplewig does

if u have a occlusion block in front of a building and a person is inside does it make the person dissapear too?

i see what it does and what its for, it doesnt generate things in parts of the map u cant see, there just not there, but since you cant see them it doesnt matter, it makes it smoother, tell me if im right, but i dont get how you nkow where to put it to block ceratin things, besides putting objects inside, like how you put them in the walls

Nice I also made a map called Water World it was my very first map I made when I just bought the game it was a city full of water with one ship on each side and a bunch of garbage in the water plus boughst and the middle had a train bridge going across with Hang Gliders and on each side of the map I had boats The level was also surounded by cliffs. But I got better at the editer so I deleted it one day hope to do a remake. Like I did with my Bay map. Im with PS3 and Im TSUMS

occlusion blocks are blocks that make things behind them disappear and reappear when get to the other side of them. They're for allowing the map to run fluidly.

It was the first map I made after buying Far Cry 2 and I worked on it for about a week, probably put 30 hours into it although a large portion of that time was learning how to use the editor.

The occlusion blocks are meant to help the performance of ur map only if u have a lot of objects. it helps ur map from red barring (lagging because to may objects in sight)

im new to far cry 2 and i was wandering how u put weapons in the map, in the editor u can only place massive gun emplacements in the "weapons and ammo" section of add an object plz can anyone help

yea u only can put in the mounted guns the multiplayer u choose the gun there is no more putting weapons into the map

Basically, when you are playing a map, everything is drawn on screen(whether you can see the objects or not). So what occlusion blocks do is, block anything behind them from being drawn. This helps improve performance since your xbox isnt trying to draw EVERYTHING, just what you are able to see. I wouldnt be to concerned unless your using a whole bunch of objects.

This tutorial is made with the consoles in mind, not the PC version.

you can open up the console within the editor by pressing the ` key "tilde" then type showfps 1

oooooor just look at the bottom right hand side of the window :) says the fps down there!

Nice tutorial, kinda poor quality though. That's a shame because I like the maps you show.

PC doesn't really need occlusion but I can understand the consoles benefit from these.
