  • youre tough

  • 1:59 any one else hear the fart or was it just the chair ?

  • Now try a full range ass-to-grass 1-legged pistol squat. It is an essential athletic strength achievement. Work the legs like no other exercise. Give it a try.

  • wow. i never thought of starting from sitting down. I tried standing up and that crap was way too hard.

  • Excellent video, this exercise would be great for Martial Artists for balance, stability and strength of the legs/knees and maybe hips also. I noticed in physiotherapy for my re-occuring shoulder dislocation (sorry to yap on about it), she looked at how I single legged squatted which I thought "Hmm that's weird". But she re-itterated the fact that the whole body needs to be aligned, and little things like weak legs/hips could affect another muscle/joint in the body i.e. my shoulder. Great vid

  • @leumasnehpets glad to help.

  • @leumasnehpets shutup

  • @kesthul Why should I shut up, you insignificant person?

  • @kesthul no you lie than no true ok ?

  • nice! thanks i needed a new leg excersies with out using weights! =)

  • I wonder if he can do a freestanding pistol

  • great leg work out, iam working off an injury so body weight resistance all i need at the momment.

  • Those are basically progressions to full pistol squats. Generally, when you are good at the progressions he showed, you move up to full pistol squats.

  • good exercise, I love to do it. Its hard but I love it.

    Thanks Tuan !

  • Unaesthetic

  • this is not a good vid if you wish to compare my legs to my upper body considering that my shorts are going past my knees. you may want to look at my vid "Tuan Tran My Bodybuilding Transformation Up Till Now" if you really wish to get a better idea how my unasethetics look. hope this helps

  • who comes up with your exercises? cause since youve been working out for a long time you do these weird exercises to keep gaining muscle mass right? how long do you have to of been working out to start doing weird excersise like this?

  • Cool exersizes man, never thought of this ;)

  • just tried these and i can definetly feel how much power u need in ur legs for this

i'll be adding this to my leg workout, thanks

  • nice video, training looks like its paying off!

  • thought you were gonna do pistols

  • those are too hard right now, well going below parallel that is, but will have a vid on how to do them with support later on

  • Hey roughneck asian.... I'm a personal trainers dream (money wise) as in i required ALOT of work. I'm large (as in big rib cage) but only 5'10. Weight 230, a little overwight. I do moderate 15lbs curls and pulls like twice a week for 20 minutes. I feel it, but as i live in a little apartment and ONLY own two 15libs dumbbells, what you recommend as a start? I have a big belly and chest fat. So what can i do? I'm trying to end up looking like you... Thanks.

  • GET THEE TO A GYM

  • hard work and dedication

  • thanks.. I always had difficulty with full unsupported one legged squats , but I'll use these variations to build up to it... great vid..

  • His calves look really small.

  • compared to my body, i wish they were bigger. they only measure 16.5 inches and with a good pump after a calf workout, it can get to 17 inches. my goal is to get them to 18 inches without pumping them up. Its going to take a while, but i will get them there one day

  • well that's pretty good actually... must be the camera angle

  • still, i do need them to get bigger. but calves are tough. if will take a lot of time and effort.

  • my calves are very under developed and i dont know what to do to make it bigger. i work them every other day. do you have advice? and whats your hieght and wieght right now

  • I'm 5'11, 150lbs. I train my legs very often for ballet and just for feeling good in general.

You find a step on stairs or some sort of small ledge.

You place ball of feet on the ledge and let your heels hang down until they touch the ground.

Contract the calf muscle fully. Do one leg at a time. like 2-3 sets of reps until failure

For seated calf exercise, you'll need gym equipment, unless someone else knows a way to do them without.

  • So what do you recommend for building calf mass? I've tried for years and mine stay skinny.

  • have you tried deadlifting and squating heavy...5x5? my calfs got bigger from doing deadlifts and squats with heavy weight..and i never did a single calf workout

  • full range of mostion, your calvs are used to pulling out tons of tiny reps everyday when you walk around and they way to spark on new growth is the give it something unique, so taking it through the full range of motion is the way to do it

4 seconds up hold for 1 4 seconds down hold for 1

do this on a sitting calve raise machine to get a full stretch

  • try training them 6 days a week 5 reps per set on 2 days 10reps a set on 2 days then 15reps a set it works wonders

  • I am so jealous of Americans and other people with massive gyms, all the gyms where I live are so small. Not fair ;(

  • Yeah man there is a big diffrance, because when your standing you have greater momentum to get the weights up as were you are sitting down it is much more harder but much more better because this way there is no cheating.

  • Thanks dude :D

  • Thought I'd ask this here, as weightlifting types will be watching these vids!

I keep seeing standing vs. seated versions of, for example, lateral deltoid raises. What differences do the seated versions have with the standing ones, if any? Sorry for such a noobish question, I'm still quite new to weightlifting.

  • you can get more momentum if you are standing vs. sitting. at least i can. using the cheat method is a way to get a little bit extra once you can not rep with good form. HOWEVER, you only use this method when you can not do proper form, and only for very few reps.

  • Did you speak Vietnamese for a moment there in the beginning ???

  • Natural, means using legal stuff imo

  • anything that is otc "over the counter" like at CVS, GNC, Vitamine Shoppe and so forth. so yes, legal stuff

  • Could someone answer this question: When people, like Tuan for example, say they are 'all-natural' bodybuilders, does that mean they don't take any form of supplements, or only that they don't use steroids?

If protein supplements of certain sorts are OK to take, can someone recommend me some, as I take nothing at the moment and after six months of lifting my muscles are getting bigger but it takes SO GOD DAMN LONG!!

Forgive the username, I'm logged in under my younger brother's 'hate' account.

  • Ah, I just saw a book called 'Scrawny To Brauny' or something mentioned which looks like it answers my question, so forget it. Sorry!

  • Gah, BRAWNY!!

  • no prob, i do get the question from time to time. but all natural means not using steroids and other drugs or supplements that you can not get otc (over the counter). but i use protein shakes,

  • Spoken like a true bodybuilder...although I sometimes feel so nervous asking you, that I'm about to drop an anvil on my head! Hahahahaha! J/K.

Anyway, what does it mean "to break parralle?" Sorry...I'm not familiar with the word parralle! ;) :p

  • that would mean squating till you quad is parralle, so your femur (the bone in you thing) would be below parralle. vs the vid, i would have to go about another 3 to 4 inches lower.

  • parallel, sorry about spelling. wish youtube would have a spell checking system for guys like me...lol

  • Hey, I like you different training methods.

Do you have any unorthodox training methods for biceps? Rather than regular movements like barbell curls, dumbell curls etc?

  • get a workout band and try doing band curls for a min for a couple of sets at the end of a bi workout. get way to bypass the sticking point and get better work on the peak of your biceps

  • I could hear one of my favorite songs in the background & quite frankly, it seemed very appropriate to the workout. Were you demostrating to the music? :p

Anyway, is it possible to increase the numbers of reps per set? It looks like a very simple exercise to do! :) :D ;)

  • the next variation would be to lose the bench and see how far on can go down and come back up. try that version and see if you can go to the point of breaking parralle with out losing balance

  • ah, this is how the ass kicking got going

  • One of my legs is MUCH weaker than the other, due to an old injury, but, now that it's been repaired, this may be just the exercise I need to get it back into shape!

    Thanks for posting.:)

  • no prob. on top of that, many individuals have an a-symmetrical squat so this is also excellent for those who are already in good health but just want to improve ones performance
