If you notice Gary juxtaposes the beginning of his song, some punct rock style ( 1:12 to 1:30 and 1:45 to 2:00) from the spoken words, with new wave thru rest of the song. Its subtle and brief only 33 seconds, but beautifully done. For those basically familiar with punct rock, will find the style in (E.Berlin before the wall came down) to be more distinct and original, than elsewhere. Gary gives you the best of both worlds, about 33 seconds of punct.and the rest new wave.
Simply stunning version of one of my favourite Numan songs. Does anyone know the bass line to this ? I have all of the synth parts worked out but not the bass.
What an absolutely fantastic rendition! My (Nu)man can still organise great music and it's great to see him update this totally brilliant track. Thanks for posting this!! :)
I listen to many different groups, solo artists etc etc......But I always come back to Numan, I never grow tired of his music......With songs like this its easy to see why !!!
WOW! i think this is the best version of this song i've heard, brings chills to my spine, and the band is great too! anyone else going to the PP tour ?
@sophiedavidson66 , it is awesome indeed ! I remember hearing this for the first time when I bought Telekon when it came out - WOW ! And Gary has never lost the passion in his voice to actually sing this one !
I love Gary so much. It's not "just" electronic music. Because if you searched for that genre you'd get a bunch of hyped up techno bullshit most likely. He's great at toning it down and making it slow and beautiful and haunting...and magical. <3 Gary Numan.
@P8290970 He's coming to Toronto later this month and playing P.P. I guess, I will be able to judge for myself ;-) Saw the Telekon concert on DVD. Thought it was simply amazing. Loved how he slightly modified the songs to make them a little heavier and darker. From what I can tell, he stayed closer to the original recordings for the P.P. tour.
@P8290970 That's exactly what I plan to do! It will be my fifth time seeing him (3 times in Canada, once in the US and this year in London at the Scala). Cheers!
Agree. I love the "universe" he created from Tubeway Army onwards until Telekon. With "Dance" it became less characteristic to me, and after that he moved on to..um, less interesting universes?
But at least he nowadays deservedly receives the praise and credit he was cruelly denied in the 80s. Man, was he bullied by the press...
wow, that's my favourite gary's song right now, and here you are with this upload! thanks! stunning version, i'm ordering the dvd right away. and i wish i could come to the uk this spring so much, but oh fuck of course i can't.
Yes. I commented already a while ago but: *** THIS SYNTH IS JUST AWESOME ***

It would appear that both the Telekon and Replicas tours were far superior to the PP tour. Discuss amongst yourselves! ;-)
