  • you are whats wrong with America.

  • @MrRocky619 you are whats wrong with the world and thats coming from a 12 year old who barley knows what the world is like...

  • @MrRocky619 fuck u... really u just lost a chance to shut ur mouth...

  • @KattiannaWhite what? that makes no sense. if you want to argue do it in an intelligent manner. dont be a fucking child.

  • I was a cheerleader and i read all through highschool i also listened to cradle of filth and didn't ever have the interest in dressing goth, really, there's a wide spectrum of people/children out there. i dont believe in stereotypes too much.

  • I really wish my mom knew English so she could understand those words from someone else's mouth and not think I'm crazy for what I wear or what I do assuming it's because I'm goth I've dealt with self harm and never got help from my parents even after they saw them they just accused me of doing it for attention and for "the style" and they really do not get that the things that cause me to do such things or have a few less than perfect grades aren't because of how I look .or even sometimes I'll

  • I realy hope i don't affend you!

but i wonder if you are a boy or a girlCX

  • @SmellMyKittyCatFace he's a boy xD

  • wats a lace?

  • I'm also a self employed artist and college student. Just constantly working for someone and being in their schedule didn't work for me, so therefor I quit my regular job of being a full time waitress.

  • I started dabbling in goth in 8th grade, God did other kids give me shit me for that. I'm 25 and STILL goth, and proud of it. I mostly sat around and read, still do. I was a pretty good teenager. You kinda sound like me a little :) My mom had trouble understanding me being goth at first, but it took me explaining it to her in a way that she could understand.

  • Former goth 30 year old here. I applaud your message, which you have conveyed intelligently and thoughtfully. Looking back, the way I expressed myself was NOT the problem in high school. The limitations my parents put on my self expression, (which led to a general rejection of my entire personality), was what brought on problems.

And you're right, goth kids tended to be the smart, pensive types. I now work in cardiothoracic surgery.

  • ahh you let them grow up, eventually they will stop crying for attention or they will die alone with everyone tired of them being so needy for attention.

  • Why does your boyfriend sounds like a female?

My mind is full of fuck.

  • As you're describing the traits of an average gothic young adult, I'm thinking "that sounds so like me. So does that! And that too!" I just didn't dress out because my brother fell into the Tripp thing and got all pissed at the world around the same time and mom always gave him shit for it and tried to make him buy clothes that weren't black. Now that he has moved away from home tho I wear my skinny jeans and lace shirts all the time and mom leaves me alone because I've always been a good kid =)

  • lawlz!!

At least you could find a lucrative job as a Hot Topic mascot.

  • Its so true, I'm a cheerleader or "jock" because I do a shit load of sports and i make honor roll normaly, but some of my friends are so called "goth" their grades are amazing.

  • I'm a goth and I still steal from claire's cx

  • I luv yo hair

  • @KINGgutterface Will u make a vid on small town goths PLEASE!!!!!!!!

  • I admit im a baby bat but im a guy and i HATE wearing make up! If i do its light light purple eye shadow that was like $2.00 at Claire's. I do get bad grades in everything but ela. I luv poetry, writing, et cetra. My mom and dad were way into goth when they were teens! But goth is not existing in my small town. Emo's and scene kids are the only ones left..... It get annoying. Plus normal people dont just say things about clothing but even me being vegetarian... They hate animals not me! But ya

  • Thank you so much for this! I showed this to my grandpa and hes so much better about me and the goth culture

  • So true I mean I have straight A's in school and I dress differently, but my dad is always putting me down saying that the devil is going to appear to me:/

  • I think your really cool

  • hey,im more sceneish than goth but did anyone judge you when you were younger and if so how did you deal with it?

  • I don't understand why people who label themselves as 'goth' or people who criticize people who are considered 'goth' make such a big deal. It's frigging 2012, being 'goth' is no longer shocking, unique or creative and it is no longer making a statement. It's old news. I think that everyone should just do what makes them happy and stop trying to justify it themselves and others.

  • "sitting some place under a tree reading a book" for some reason that made me laugh :)

  • Nice video about this topic. I personally now everything that you said about goth people are true not all of em are evil heck some of em I met in life are some of the nicest people to have as friends. Also I love how they express them selves with art or the way they dress I'm personally a fan of the style . But I'm just the kind of guy who wears black alot but no make up because I would have no clue how to properly use it . So yeah thanks for making this video hopefully my parents will kind of

  • My Mother can be strict sometimes about my appearance. While my mother doesn't completely criticize me, she's made it clear that she isn't a fan of me being goth how do I go about explaining to her that I'm not the stereotypical goth that wants to kill herself? I also don't smile a lot but that's just me. I've never been a smiley person, and she thinks it has something to do with the way I dress and put my makeup on. Again, how do I explain this to her without it blowing up in my face?

  • Why the fuck are people talking about PETA.

  • Thanks for making this video! Now all I need is to translate it to Spanish...

  • I think the reason why they get into drugs is because the parents don't accept them.

  • I love it how parents go for the kill first, rather than embrace and understand :)

  • @Teeazx you best not be talking about KINGgutterface

  • @GothicBlakCat thats part of being goth hun :) u say screw you an walk off proud!

  • Yay for being adopted by parents who were in there 60s when you find your self as a Goth

  • I live right next to the state WV it's called Ohio and it sucks BALLZ. Ppl are so judge mentl. They suck big time lol Juss sayin

  • Comment removed

  • By the way, I saw your coffin ring at 2:37 I have that same one! I love your look also, you pull it off extremely well!

  • I live in WV, it really can be judgmental at times here and it's been pretty abusive because of my lifestyle. :( It sucks living here, but I can relate to what your'e talking about.

  • in response to some of these comments... he doesn't say he was a good child, he simply says his parents realized that being goth isn't the worst thing that a child could do, and ON AVERAGE goth individuals tend to be intellectual and highly individual.

  • i have also notised the people who are different are smarter than the regular kids and i love to read, i wouldnt call myself goth but i do dress differently and im in all the top classes and my friends r smart too

  • i like being goth be all these girly girlys and looking at me like am a freak :( am a young middle school goth but i just don't know what to do they think am a freak but am just trying to be myself

  • For me, the biggest difference between goth and emo and scene etc was the degree of intelligence, creativity and art involved in the goth spectrum... I think maybe this is why Goth tends to be so elitist... And that's not entirely a bad thing if the elitism is directed toward how well one knows one's self. -- I had to stop externalizing myself so vividly, I still wear mostly black but the make up and contacts etc are gone... people don't understand goth anymore - they see only scene/emo

  • I'm sooooo glad you're so young and NOT falling into the scene/emo trend or it's relatives... I want to see goth or goth-like subcultures flourishing and replacing the damage that has been done the past 10 years. We can start this by creating a new consciousness that shine's a light on the difference between expressing yourself and buying into a pre-made/canned identity. Fakeness is what has destroyed subcultures. So we would first have to eliminate that - change cultural awarness.

  • im not goth what am i doing here also im not a parent so...

  • @247sonnyrocks

i think were in that weird part of youtube again...

  • @247sonnyrocks right with ya, except its sadder for me cause its freaking late or better yet early and im watching this

  • @4bakelife20 holy shit its 3 now O_O

  • yous peaks true words but i hope your vegetarian. i have the right to only see you as susseceful if you are a vegan or a vegetarian. if not then you eat meat and you are murdering animals.

  • @nerdymom2 Um, pardon me, but that sounds rather ignorant, and something only PETA would say. I advise you to not see meat eaters as murderers, because, in essence, you're murdering plant life. Humans do not have the ability to do photosynthesis, so taking life from something else is inevitable. :| Some people actually get their meat, fish and poultry mailed in from Organic farms or grown/fished themselves, and try to put an end in the most humane way possible. I hope you listen.

  • @XPaladinxMarchx plants dont feel pain. their reactions are CHEMICALLY done. they do not have central nervous systems. get over it meat head.

  • @nerdymom2 So does everything in the Animal Kingdom. Nerves act as conductors of chemical information, so don't try to use that argument with me. And for the record, I only eat junk food, like chips and cake. Unhealthy, but I like it. However, what IF a plant actually does feel pain? What would you do then? Also, let me add, meat had nothing to do with the subject of the video. Never did he mention about eating meat, so shove the propaganda where it belongs; in the shredder.

  • @nerdymom2 Would have added the last part of my response earlier, but I lazed about and really wish PETA would see that what actions they do to fight against cruelty is not good options. The organization in general attacks their fellow man, and it's not right. And to this day, I never sent any proceedings of donations to said organization, and instead, give it to a friend who works at an ASPCA shelter..

  • Joji, where were you three years ago when my parents were freaking about everything. It's calmed down since, but I could've used this back then XD

  • I just hate the kids who know nothing about Goth and only do it to be "kewl". Fuck that, if you're gonna be Goth, be a real Goth.

  • @katejae211 Youre going to have to learn that doing bad things and making mistakes doesnt mean you are a bad child or that you do not have good intentions. It actually all can be the the truth at one time. While others can be sitting there veiwing your actions as bad, you can be saying in your mind that you are doing it for the best and the better. If somebody does something viewed as "bad" there is always a reason they did it. Being a forgivable psycological problem they cant help or another.

  • Ur cool. Understanding and open minded

  • I'm such a girly girl but I must say AMEN TO YOU :) Very well said! I like your style by the way.

  • Fucking Kill the Cunt

  • I like sleeping in graveyards its so peaceful and the most safest place on earth.but the police does not appreciate my moment of peace and meditation.what is so wrong in giving the dead some flower and a glass of wine?

  • Im not trying to attack you by saying this cause I actually like your videos and respect that you have such strong values but.. you contradict yourself. In this video you're calming from 13-16 you were a good child but in the video 'people hate me' you claim at 14 you were doing drugs, getting expelled, trying to kill your dad + going into mental institutions. As much as I want to hug you and tell you that you're strong and smart, it's like what is the truth?

  • @katejae211 i was a good kid, well behaved with top grades and graduated with advanced regents, when i was that age and i was drinking and smoking pot like no one's business. i've quit those abuses since then but my point is that experimenting/having fun and being a bad, non productive person are two different things.

  • @katejae211 I noticed that too.. I mean he's adopted, and he practically gave that family hell. :l Dont get me wrong, I respect him too, but still..

  • @katejae211 I think what he's saying is that he didn't cut himself or do drugs or get in trouble simply because he was goth. If were to say "I have scars and did a shit ton of drugs in highschool and then got expelled" parents would probably tell their kids "hell to the no, you are not becoming a goth." Just a guess. P:

  • @katejae211 if shes trying to convince parents do you really think shes going to tell them all that....i see where your coming from but you should think of what this videos about too

  • @t1oxETy She is a he. but i appriciate the sentament of your comment anyways.

  • @WierdElla wait...shes a he? WHAT maby my brains having a brain fart over this concept but whatever, so gutterface is a feminine guy? or a girl that calls herself a guy but knows "hes" a girl.......or transexual....im trying to word this so it dosnt sound like im a troll XD

  • @t1oxETy i dont think your brain is farting :P he is a very fierce, proud and feminine transgender male. -short answer, but watch his more of his vids, he can explain better that i can, his gender is not the only defining thing about him i hope you realize :) hope this answered your question, although admittedly, very bluntly put.

  • @WierdElla ^.^ thx i found he never really explained it well. i get that he dosnt let his gender define him, that mainly why i wasnt shure if i should even ask about it because it would go against what his message is (to me it dose anyways)

  • @katejae211 I would say that the point he was trying to make here was that because a person dresses a certain way, it doesn't necessarily mean that they are going to do those things. Obviously each person is different, some goth kids may do drugs and fall out but they're not doing it JUST because they're goth.

  • @katejae211 i was thinking the same thing! i love his opinions and what not, but still i was confused

  • @katejae211 shes an attention whore this should be clear

  • I am a proud goth .My mom understands that I am me but I only wish my dad would be so supportive. He never even tells me when he has a problem with what I'm wearing he tells my mom. How rude is that?

  • I have never tagged myself personally, as goth however I dress gothic and am into reading/writing and poetry. I am pretty much the majority of your description of goth, alkthough Id rather not tag myself as one. Not that I would ever be shamed to be goth and I have nothing against goths, I would just rather count myself as an individual and not part of a group.

  • I find you're video's interestings to look at, Thanks for you're time and uploading.

  • in your other video you claimed you were on drugs really bad and suicidal. in this video you say you weren't taking drugs and you were at home being normal and reading. i was goth when i was a teenager but i grew out of it, and i did bad things. i think you will grow out of this, it gets tiring putting on everyday.

  • @braindrain52389 Goth isn't a phase, you were never truly a Goth.

  • DO NOT EVER EVER EVER DELETE THIS VIDEO! this needs to be seen by everyone. everything you said is 100% true and spot on. my maw is a big catholic and thinks the way i dress means i worship the devil. your video with a little help from myself helped her to understand my clothing and makeup choices are just who i am and that im not in a cult of satan followers, and that goths are not bad people. she says i need to be more like my cousin. if i were i would have had 6 kids by now and im only 19...

  • im not goth, but im a lover of the arts so i dress how i feel , my parents are not used to what im into , this really does help thank you :) and plus ur boyfriends vioce sounds live like my english teacher XD

  • your gauges swing back and forth when you move your head

  • im not goth, but i dig it

  • I started dressing Goth when I was 13 and have kept the style. My parents were against it, but my mom grew to accept it while my dad... Well my dad has a major problem with it. I'm 18 now, and still dress this way and You would think that after 5/6 years he would get over it and be proud of my acheivments: I'm a good artist, I design clothes, and I've won an award for my art 4 years in a row at my Jr. high and High school. I'm proud of who I am, why can't he be proud of me too?

  • my mum has nothing wrong with me being goth. As long as im still getting good grades thats fine.

  • LOL I said future mom, I meant future stepmom. I was keeping the character limit in the comments on my brain.

  • My 11 year old, said something to her future mom about wanting her nails painted black. She was met with "You aren't going goth on us, are you?!" My daughter got so mad, because she's never been met with that. I am a child of the 80s, I did the black clothes and such...but I didn't hear the word goth until I was in my 20s. I showed my daughter pictures of me, and asked her whats wrong with it? She said nothing, my answer was "exactly, nothing" But now I'm worried about that side of her fam.

  • I guess I got lucky with this one...My father and stepmother were already offbeat, artistic..and Paganistic...

  • I have a question about getting a job.. You said that you are an artist so you are self employed, do you have any advice for another artist who is struggling to get their name and product out there..? I am a painter and have been trying to live off of my art but am finding it very difficult to find a consumer for my product.. Any suggestions..?? Thanks.. :)

  • I've been interested in the Alternative-style (Scene, Goth, Punk, etc.) for four or five years now, and am just now really getting into the style. I'm not to the point where I'm wearing all black, and lace, fishnets, multiple facial/body piercings/modifications, though that IS because my parents claiming that these things make me look trashy and whore-y. (I don't see how; that's what they say, though.) Next time I wear it, I'll bring up the 80s Hair Bands.

  • Aw..I was adopted too :)

  • I think the reason self harm is so heavily associated with the culture is because kids with those problems find more acceptance in the community than they would from "Normal" kids, so its more likely that they've found goth through self harm rather than the other way around, and its more likely to help them STOP it rather than make it worse. I've dressed alternatively since I was allowed to choose my own clothes and I've never cut myself, so its not the subculture thats the problem.:)

  • The first time I fell in love with the Goth culture/fashion I was 7. I got the courage to wear black in middleschool but I had to stop freshmen year because my family told me I'm making them unhappy and they don't want to see me in public with them. The always told me to do what makes me happy but I couldn't . Now that I am 18, and still in love with it.how could I try again to show that it makes me happy. I don't want to label myself, I'm not candy I just love wearing that style.

  • im strange as well you know about cemetaries <3 i love gothic cathedrals you know-- just thinking of how it was to live back then, i appreciate it because it made today.. i rlly love s.s too ... maybe thats why? :O idk but i love architecture, history, and anime!!! :D

  • children need to not have restrictions... i mean like prostitue clothing go ahead and stop them from that parents... but

when a child isnt allowed to do something, the more they're pushed towards that thing <3 when they get older

  • i like you !

  • :O total inspiration im not goth or anything i just have a damn Passion for music and i love that whole awesome hair on your face or what ever you want to call it look and my parents want me to be that person i don't i really need to pin them down and strap them to a damn chair and tape their eye lids open and make them watch this Thanks for the Video :D

  • lol i became goth i 6th grade.. im now in college... when i first started dressing goth my parents told me if i started wearing makeup id sleep on the pourch... a short time later i started wearing make up.. they accepted it eventually with the whole hell grow out of it... then my dad met a friend who had a son who is 29 married has a kid a steady job a hearse and is goth... then they decided eh hes our son hes a good kid if he grows out of it he will if not whatever hell be the same person

  • I wish i had the guts to show my parents this...

  • D: My parents need to see this.!!! :// they made me change...

  • im not goth, and i dont have nothing against it, but i really like ur vids :)

  • As long as your kids are not ritual killing fluffy and they are at home on time and are well and somewhat happy, let them dress the way that they want. Embrace their trends. You never know what type of new trend or fashion that they can come up with. As long as they are not harming themselves or you, embrace the art. Share with them your ideas but embrace the creativity! Blessings,

    Thornmallow

  • super happy funtime

  • its really good what you are saying, and it true. like the other day my dad told me 'in a few years time you'll look at your past and laugh'. um dad can't you see i like wearing makeup and piercing, this not a phase its who I am and I will never grow out of it. hey I'm gonna be this 50 yr old man with many piecing, many tattoos and rainbow hair. and hey if my parents don't like, then screw them because i'm became the person who i was suppose to be

  • It's funny because my parents try to get me OUT of the house. And when I do want to go, somewhere it's usually the library or just to sit around my friends house (in which we are still reading)

  • this video makes me upset because my parents have always had issues with my self expression and self creativity....I really wish they were more open...i have all A's in school, always have, im very smart, i am a music prodigy, and as I write this comment on here, my dad is already yelling at me about my home made gagues i have baking in the oven downstairs.....I just cry because they dont understand. and they never will no matter how hard I try.

  • My family finally got over me being a goth. It took them awhile and at one point, they forced me to wear nothing but white and really bright colors and took away all my eyeliner and all my goth clothes. It made me rebel even more. :)

  • I'm from West Virginia, What part are your parents from, I'm from Pineville. It's in wyoming county.

  • I was lucky to have a mom and grandma (and other extended family) who LIKED my clothes and would buy me clothes and things for birthdays and Christmas. The only people who really had an issue were kids at school and my dad, but all of those people are stupid, anyways.

  • Thankfully, my big sister was goth as well so me turning out to be goth wasn't so much of a shock. It was just very misunderstood because I dress so subtly. I have to explain to people that it's not all about the clothing and stuff. But yeah, I am glad my sister got the awkward confusion out of the way for me.

Oh...and the hand-me-downs, gotta thank her for the hand-me-downs. lol!

  • I think you and Irry would make awesome parents! xD

  • I like to put on your videos and just listen to you talk. When I'm on the computer, I usually have another tab pulled up, doing something else, with you and your latest rant in the background. I love it.

  • Hey, I like you. Really cool girl.

  • Comment removed

  • Also you see more of the average kids having babies nowadays!

  • I'm exactly like that in school, but Math is my enemy!

  • you are such a nice person.

  • my mom doesnt mind it anymore. shes 60 and kinda getting in the groove of my lifestyle and so is my aunt. the only catch is i have to let them buy most of my cloths and well.......gotta make them work. but i think everyone has realized that im not in a phase since this has lasted since 4th grade. not sure how i got into it but hey i love it and not going to leave it.

  • Thank you so much, my mother does not appreciate me in the subculture, but it really is none of her concern because I could be doing a lot worse. Which I would not want to, but she just doesn't understand. She's stuck in her ways...

  • Amen!!!

My parents ALWAYS accused me of doing drugs or hiding something (I don't know what...) because I, in middle and high school, liked going to debate tournaments and putting together sets for plays at school and music and reading and painting/art. Because I was/am into the goth scene.

To this day, we don't have the closest relationship and my father, especially, and I have a very strained relationship stemming from the distrust from years ago (I am now 22).

  • Comment removed

  • you are one of the reasons why I love goths :) <3

  • and my mum thinks i spend to much time in my room on the computer when most of the time all im going is listening to music and reading

  • this is why all goth people who have kids will have happier kids we can accept anything from our kids wether they are gay goth or whatever

  • my parents both had diffrent opinions i feel my mom was more excepting the rest of my faMily would joke call me a freak. My dad thought it was a phase .I myself am a christian Goth noone seems to understand what that is.

  • i dont dress goth but my art and stuff shows my emotions and veiws on life

  • I'm goth & my mum loves it :D she's always like "oh they look so beautiful in their black dresses and coats" , so there's no problem ;).

but my dad's like this " you're 19,you can do whatever the f*ck you want", so he's not really into this :)

  • My parents totally get it but they're all against me dressing to OTT. My grandfather on the other hand, has been the most supportive person in my entire life and through his whole life he's believed that you can wear what you want, it's who you are inside that matters. His motto (and my future tattoo) is act right in your head.

So there you go kids, be who you are, wear what you feel like (within reason, nothing age-inappropriate) and act right in your head.

  • @Vanya46 perhaps "act right in your heart" because the mind is something that misleads every human being 1 minute our mind says ok thats good the next its says your worthless.our heart says its ok i still love you no matter what :)

  • This is spot on. My parents worry about what other people think about my choice of clothing and make-up which makes being who I am and/or want to be hard. I just don't know what to do and I sent this to them hahaa and said it was spot on. Hopefully they realize this and let me be myself. Thanks ^._.^

  • i would want to be goth, dress in black etc and my personality certainly is partly gothic, but ive decided (over about a year) that i will dress 'normally' coz my parents dont like goths, and also i find that boys like girly girls (which i am) usually more than goth girls. weird thing is, i love horror, graveyards, etc, and lace and stuff, but i also like my own sense of style in other colours than black, so ive decided i'm probably just very different, and i'm happy like that :)

  • This is amazing. Im going to site my parents down tonight and make them watch this.

  • well if you need level headed, I've started dabbling in the goth subculture a little over 2 years ago (been a metalhead for even longer) and been part of it since; on top of that, I am a student of Marine Engineering and German (6 years and fluent) at a high ranking school (sry don't mean to sound pretentious there), recently been raised as a Freemason, and I currently work at a medical library, so there you have it (I can name many others)

  • OMG yes

my mother was about to die when she saw my boots, my skirt, my destroyed jeans, my make-up...

my oppinion is that it really has to be hard for parents to notice that their children are hated by others because they are different, and I do also understand that they want us to stop it..

but, my parents are accepting it now :D

    Im glad about that

  • Agreed, graveyards are awesome. For your exact reasons~

  • i wish more people where as understanding as you.

i myself am a goth,i am proud to be one.

its just a lot of people come up to me at times and ask me personal questions-

as to why i look a certain way,i always reply with kindness and a smile-

but sometimes it gets annoying, anyways peace one love for all.

  • 0 dislikes.... hell yes....

  • I'm from West Virginia, and I'm quite a bit like you, Joji. I'm not goth, but, regardless...

Most people I encounter are very unfamiliar with these kind of things too, as well as my parents. I agree with you completely.

  • The dumb football player stereotype really bugs me. I played football all 4 years in high school and I got great grades. So did pretty much everyone else on the team.

  • my mom told me at one time i couldnt wear skulls that rule has never been followed. she buys me stuff with skulls now. over time she hasnt cared what i wear. the issue is dying my hair black. she'll let me dye it pink, purple, green, blue, blood red but she says no to black. she says i'll look stupid which is bad reason but im trying to get over it. and im like what u were as a teen. i stay home listen to music and read a lot. i make very good grades so my mom has nothing to complain about

  • .All of my best friends are within the goth/emo/judgedbyotherpeoplebecauseofhowtheydress- sort of category, because i find the 'weirdest' ones are the best ones as they actually understand the problems i gothrough and never judge my self harm or dresssense because they actually havebeen through it themselves. My other friends however, are stuck up cows with nounderstanding of life becuase theyve beenmollycoddled and not allowed to express themselves. So i feel the most 'emo' friends are the best :L

  • My parents actually had the opposite affect with me becoming goth. Whenever me and my mom go shopping she will even pick out clothes that she thinks I'll like.the same with my dad he.:)

  • While watching this, I figured so many things wrong with what I am doing, and things that I should have done.

My parents said a lot of things because of how I was dressing.. etc .

Yeah I may have said some really shitty things to them, and was not thinking clearly, but not saying that they haven't as well.

  • Wait r u livin in west virginia omg what part no one cool ever lives in wv now I guess that would b a lie now huna?!!!

  • I am a history buff Metalhead and I think your videos are great :)

  • You inspire me :D i love your vids and your hair and clothes& make up and everything is just awesome and i love it xD also really love your lip piercings >.< and your ears & awesome hat. also i think you have a great voice, sorry if that sounds a bit creepy but yeah, i started following you on deviant art and once you said you had a youtube account i subscribed, ive watched almost all of your vids and i love every one!! :) You really inspire me and i wish i could meet you in person one day

  • I totally went through that stuff when I was younger. My mom was SUPER religious and wouldn't let me wear any black, I couldn't do my make up too thick, etc. It was horrible. Thankfully she's gotten over the fact that this is just who I am. >< It used to drive me nuts. lol

  • T^T grr well my family went to a 4th of J party today and you know there was a lot of ppl there, and my grandma huge me and gently put my hair behind my ears, but she saw my gaiges, there not big only 2, and she freaked out and stuff and my parents came over an saw them and yelled my name grr and they wanted me to tak them out...but its always somethin they dont like abut what i where.and they will find something to make fun of me or get mad about..i just hate when they make a seen infont of ppl

  • YAY COMBAT BOOTS :D theyre like my actual feet haha

  • @LayZbabe424 they are great! but summer sucks, to hot to wear them.

  • I hate when people from my family says "Oh, this is just a phase, you're gonna grow out of it." Hell no I'm not.

And this is why I love my mom. She one told me; "Whenever people look down on you I feel like yelling "SHE HAS AWESOME GRADES EVEN THOUGH SHE DRESSES WEIRDLY AND HAVE BLUE HAIR.""

    Excuse my english.

  • @MoniMichiyo my parents and sister said the same thing but as time goes on i find that i like more more and more goth type things i am ESPECIIALY fond of decoriting in the dark sense *as in blakc with purple black red and green in it :D*

  • West Virginia? I live in West Virginia. :) Where do you live now? If you don't mind me asking.

  • I heard "And watching porno movies" instead of "and watching horror movies" at first... loool.

  • Two or three years back,a young woman named Sophie was savagely killed in England, and her boyfriend was viciously beaten, simply 'cause they were Goths! So,as a 50 year old man, I'd ask what would you rather have,a Goth daughter/son,or a child who goes out and KILLS someone 'cause of the way they dress?! Seems pretty simple to me.

  • i went to Gothic Style when i was 20

  • my grandmother told me "not to end up like maria." (my second cousin) maria is a beautiful young woman, a wonderful mother, and i don't care that she or most of her friends are goth. she supports the fact that not all goths are depressed or drug addicted or whatnot. and i envy her daughter, because she's not being pressured into a gender stereotype, or being "made into a goth" like my grandma fears. i think maria being a goth lent a lot to her openminded parenting.

  • Everyone's like "in a few years you're gonna grow out of this" but seriously, I feel good wearing black clothes, I love Goth music and all that dark stuff. Even when I was a child and I didn't have a clue what "Goth" is I was into those things. It's a part of my identity and who I am. They just won't get it. -.- My mom's super worried about me getting a job but I am ok with dressing more "normal" and using less or no make-up for work. Yet in my sparetime I'll still wear the clothes I love.

  • At first my mom didn't approve of any other makeup than mascara, any hairdye, any other kind of shoe than plain flats, earrings or black clothes.

My sister is the perfect cheerleader-type and she got slapped and called a whore for getting her ears pierced behing my mom's back.

My mom didn't approve of my look at ALL in the beginning but now that I'm 18 and I've discussed everything with her beforehand I have multicolored hair, ears pierced twice and she bought me platform shoes for my birthday.

  • Joji, why you gotta bring the cheerleaders into this :( I know a lot of them suck but a lot of them don't and my best friend in middle school was pretty gothy and a cheerleader! I know it's just an example so I'm really not being serious but it makes me sad that cheerleaders get such a bad rap. I was a cheerleader, on the honor roll, I am an artist and love and appreciate all things dark and macabre. Not trying to rant, excellent video and you are beautiful.

  • What books are you currently reading?

  • I like the goth kids from south park :D

  • Love you for this XD when I was suffering from depression ( is still kinda do) my mom was like "look what you read, look how you dress, look what you draw, look what you listen to" and it's like seriously I've ALWAYS had depression mother XD the things I like don't influence that. Also I'm currently a telemarketer making $10 and hour. They'd rather me dress dark then slutty most of the managers and supervisors have stretched ears, tatoos and facial peircings.

  • FOR the "what is the most I could do in a grave yard question" would be robbing the dead. :U but i'd doubt you'd do it I was just throwing that out there. I don't have the goth problem cause I don't dress as a goth, but they do have an interesting lifestyle choice~

I like this video you made :L

  • Thank you for making this video hun <3

My parents would actually make fun of me for my style which is a mix of J-rock, Punk, Goth and Scene. :'(

And I'm quite similar to you. I didn't do bad/terrible stuff. I was more content staying home playing an RPG, drawing, reading or watching a movie with a friend then sneaking out to get wasted at some party.

After seeing this it's helped a bit.

    Thank you once again :)

  • I've been having a bunch of turmoil in me on this subject matter and this really cleared my thoughts. Again thanks so much for the video <3 yay!!! 4 videos in one day it must be my birthday again :3

  • haha you just made me want to go try sitting in a grave yard...

I may not be goth (I'm more 'mod' I guess you'd call it) but that sounds very, very, very intriguing
