  • Wat mooi !

Ik zou zo weer terug willen naar die tijd !

    Prachtig ! : )

  • the artist is dick willebrandts band and its written by jaap valkhoff

  • Lovely nostalgia. I love old photos & albums as well. Nice job putting it together.

  • I really need to know who the artist is for this song and what is the song title?! Also what it is about would be helpful? Any info would be appreciated alot! Thanks xx

  • @priya420 This information is show in the titles of this video.

  • @nederland4045 Where?! The title is : ' A Dutch 1930's photoalbum with music '

I need to know teh artists name and the song name.

  • @priya420 I meant the title in the video itself.

If you play the video you will see the name of the song and artist showing up right after the first title, at about 0:05

  • The pictures are very touching, of a time far away : not only clearly in Holland, but also in Indonesia (Dutch East Indies then). The music recorded in 1943 of the Willebrandts band, who also worked for the radio. THE popular song of that day, written by Jaap Valkhoff. Dick could really play jazz piano, virtually no recordings exist.

    Charles

  • @TheMuzikanten I have several Dutch Decca 78 rpm records made in 1943 by Dick Willebrandts and his orchestra. In the 1980s Grannyphone issued a LP with all the commercial wartime recordings by Willebrandts. As far a I know, it can still be ordered at the Nederlands Jazz Archief, as well as the CD with recordings made by Willebrandts in 1943 for the Deutsche Europa Sender (DES), with American and English standards (vocals - in English! - by Nellie Verschuur and Jan de Vries)

  • Hmm, makes me feel nostalgic. Well, as nostalgic as a 16 year old can get, I suppose! It makes you wonder what ever happened to that family...

  • @toughcrowd9 yea. curiosity sets in. i do hope theyre in well being. and btw makes you think if whether he sold it accidentally or didnt care for the photos or time, or if he simply made a contribution to world on

  • Nice that you kept that old photo album. There is much to learn of here of another era. Forms of recreation, traditional wedding, clothing styles (very possibly home-sewn dresses etc.), materials (some wool blends?), neighborhoods (walks-ups). Two uniforms might be identifiable. It ends with WWII photos, which begs the question were there other albums, or in the worst scenario did the family perish. Were the photos in your video presented in the same order that they appear in the album?

  • I'd like to point out that the music is one of Hollands finest Big Band ever, this saxophone section is one of Europeans best sounding saxophone section ever!! Tinus Bruijn , Kees Bruijn , Bep Rowold, Ben LibosanJust listen good at 1:50 .... I know for fact that this recording (like ALL recs those days) has been done live for radio around one single microphone, the band was gathered around it! The phat tenor solo is done by Kees Bruijn, who wrote the most arrangements as well.

  • Que hermosos recuerdos !!!!!!!!!

  • The music's nice, wonder if you got more old Dutch music. Also, something about the photos seems to break my heart. The family who owned this might never find it again. It's sad. The woman was beautiful with her husband & child. The Netherlands really seemed beautiful back then. No offense, since today, liberal seems to have become so extreme. But still, I'd love to visit the Netherlands one day. Love the culture, especially the language.

  • WOW! great video. thank you!

I love the old music very much and this pictures...are fantastic.

  • also the war photos caught my eye- interesting.and those people are very photogenic [=

  • beautiful video- and stop bringing other countries down you may be over looking it.thats like saying texas is ALL country and cowboys and thats a lie. see what i mean?

  • wow this almost made me cry i have a weird nostalgia to this time period lol and i was born in the 90's i must've had a past life lol but yea very nice and sent gave me chills lol =]

  • @missmishi08

You had a past life and still have that, like you have more past lives you remember less of. No doubt that it is no coincidence that you searched for this video. You will find out more about your past life as time goes by: just accept what happens and the way it will happen

  • @missmishi08 It is not weird at all.

I don't believe in past lives but I do believe in style and taste.

The modern era lacks both of these and people look for them elsewhere.

I have now a 1930s lifestyle, I don't care what people say, I wear 1930s clothing, my house is 1930s decorated, I don't have a tv or mobile phone.

Taking a few steps back is a great thing to do.

Not everything was better back then, but a lot is worse today.

  • @missmishi08 you know what me too :) and i was born in that same time frame. the musics upbeet :)

  • Very nice slide show. I was born in 1944 in Amsterdam and my family album is a lookalike with this one . And Amsterdam is still a marvallous city.... Helmut!!!!

  • Wow. Awesome post.

  • In that time probably the most civilized country in the world. But now ? Well....

  • "Luckily" every other country in the world has gone downhill as well, so we are still pretty civilized compared to the rest...

  • Really ?

Have you been to Amsterdam lately ?

A city with a reputation in the world that puts every Dutchman to shame.

  • I live there.

It doesnt shame me, its not much worse then most western cities these days.

Its modern society thats a mess, not any particular city or country.

  • I LOVE THIS THANK YOU

  • Lovely!

  • splendid video. as a bit of a history fanatic, this immediately caught my attention. i loved what you've done with this video. thank you for making it, as it was an inspiring and enjoyable thing to watch. :)

  • Fasineerdend foto's!!! En het muziekje erg leuk en Hollands. En het luchtalarm gaf nogal veel kippenvel... Het klink zelf al zo eng als het menschen moet waarschuwen.

  • cool vid

  • wow i enjoyed that. thank you!

  • Fascinating voyeuristic experience. The ending pictures show how quickly everything can change forever.

  • I enjoy old photo albums as well, thanks for posting.
