  • Imagine Dream Theater would play this! Awesome!

  • Question: Can you have this song in the music list? The song always appear locked even when I finish the game.

  • @Xolotl8 you need to obtain the "Shampoo" card after 2 weeks (in real-time) of gameplay, it will become the "Splended Hair" card, which will unlock all of the music tracks. I know, it sux D:

  • @TheCrimsonPower What the... seriously??? that a weird way of completing the musicbox.

  • @Xolotl8 I know, the game doesn't take near 2 weeks to complete, & If you wait early in the game the time will screw up your magnus. D:

  • @TheCrimsonPower Well, you could use SP combos to create magnus that dont age. Chestnuts and Sacred Wine are the best options in the beggining (and very convenient because healing magnus are the most affected by the time).

  • @Xolotl8 that's a good idea, lol, I have the Strategy Guide, & I've only learned 2 combos xD

  • @TheCrimsonPower used to read the magnus description, some of them tell you what can you use to create combos. And its fun create combos.

  • @Xolotl8 I'll have to check it out, I'd love to complete 100% of the game someday :D

  • @TheCrimsonPower Good luck then, the most difficult part is to obtain the magnus that only appear once.

Oh and also check this: /watch?v=ljZNFc3ACXg my reaction: O.o

  • I didnt play Baten Kaitos much (finished it anyway :D) But I so much loved those OST that now I feel like any new J-RPG OST is a copy... Can hear some things that are the same *.*

Anyway, Love it. Keep on going you japanese geniuses :D

  • this sounds like a Guilty Gear track =O

  • I have listened-nothing happened!

  • Man I have this game, and for GameCube standerds it's soundtrack is one of the best. I never get tiyerd of this game. XD

  • some of baten katios soundtrack remind me of star ocean

  • @devilhunter369 same composer

  • @devilhunter369

Both soundtracks were composed by Motoi Sakuraba. As good as his soundtracks are, they have a bad habit of sounding similar to one another.

  • The first 8 second or so are almost like a rearranged version of FFVI's boss battle theme ("Decisive Battle")...

  • @szlatyka to me is like a mix ("festival of servant" from castlevania SOTN - "Beat the Angel" from Tales of Symphonia- "Decisive Battle" from FFV)I

  • the boss fights in this game.. so fucking epic

  • Oh my god I love this game.

  • Epic!

  • you are fighting the wicked god of death and destruction, in a castle that floats above a planet he poisoned, that is filled to the brim with damned beasts that are hell-bent on killing you. He absorbed the soul of a pure indiviual and gained the ability to inflict every status condition, absorb your hp, deal almost 10,000 damage per combo, and attack three times per turn.

    .......

This song sums it up fairly well.

  • That opening is VERY Final Fantasy 6, speaking of Decisive Battle at least.

  • @TheReenix I love how, in the ears of FF fanboys, all good RPG songs sound like Final Fantasy songs lmfao

  • @TheSolBlader "Fanboy" - I haven't even played 13. I'm going on the more muscial aspect in that the opening is very similar to the opening of the Final Fantasy 6 boss battle - only in a higher key and faster.

  • If you think this games voice acting is bad, play Arc Rise Fantasia. Only game where I ever turned off the voices, they suck so bad.

  • this song reminds me alot about star ocean songs, alot of games that let u roam free wen fighting a monster in a battle field usually have the best songs, but i wouldn't recommend buying the new star ocean(the last hope) the story line is fantastic as usual but the game is too short lived even if it is on 3 discs...

i beat is in 2 days...

  • Whoa this song brings back memories... all the way back when linkin park was my favourite band ha so awhile ago =.= I can't remember what happened to my game but I lost it just before beating it ( I think ) And I also lost the full album that came with the game when I bought it so I dont have the songs anymore :( It is official I am heading to ebay or amazon and buying some good ol gamecube games... games these days really do not compare in story it is sad how horrible most are now.

  • Actually the voices arent THAT bad, bigger issue was at least in eu version the voices sounded weird and echoey if you dont have sounds set to surround.

  • @fapnoob I didn't know that. Thanks for the info!

  • The voice acting may be bad, but they did include an option to turn the voices off.

  • This is reminiscent of Dynasty Warriors to me. Much approved.

  • NOBODY can talk about bad voice acting if they haven't herd any dialogue from Castle Shikigami 2.

    Check this:

    ?v=Cv8ftxxqxy8

at 3:00 it's hilarious how bad is it

  • lol resident evil voie acting.

    "TAKE A LOOK AT THIS!"

    "What is this?"

    "STOP, Dont open the door!!!"

  • Well I don't know how likely we are to see a Baten Kaitos for the Wii, but what I will say is that for whatever reason Eternal Sonata vaguely reminded me of Baten Kaitos. I guess their soundtracks are pretty similar sounding if nothing else. Given this game's soundtrack is on par with a game about a freaking classical composer, that's obviously a compliment.

  • @Nejove Eternal Sonata was developed by a lot of the same people as Baten Kaitos(specifically, tri-crescendo). Plus, the soundtrack is by Motoi Sakuraba (who composed the BK scores as well).

  • @suiriryoku

That would explain why the main battle-theme of Eternal Sonata sounded to me so much like a battle-theme from Baten Kaitos...

Not that it was a bad thing, I really like BK.

  • @suiriryoku Baten Kaitos was a WAY better game though. Eternal Sonata was nothing compared to this masterpiece.

  • @Nejove All of Motoi Sakuraba's music sounds exactly the same, so don't feel bad for noticing.

  • @IfTheBannersFall

I wonder how he manages it...

  • yeah...it d be nice if they made another one...or at least a game of the sort

is there a website where we can ask for video games to be made ?

  • epic piece of music

the BK games were alot better than all the overrated Final Fantasy games imho.

  • @funnylilcat

fingers only? im crossing my dang spleen hoping they do this O_o

  • @MirageSeraph indeed

  • favorite song :P

  • two words about bad voice acting: Jill Sandwich

  • You think the voice acting in any recent games is bad? Try putting up with the main voice-actor in "Resident Evil: Survivor".

  • @WorldWalker128 if you want horrible voice acting then check out arc rise fantasia it has probably has the worst va ever

  • @WorldWalker128

You mean Kevin? I didn't think he was that bad. The ORIGINAL Resident Evil? Yeah, that's worse than Baten Kaitos.

  • Impressive places, imaginary worlds...This game is my inspiration for creating magnificient worlds, i mean perfect ambientation, GREAT story, absolute fantastic gameplay, nice characterss...i mean cmon Nintendo THIS IS WHAT WE WANT : ).

  • At the start, it sounds like the boss theme from Final Fantasy 3/6.

  • The voice acting is good, nothing too bad about it... except Xelha... that accent... it's like she's always being sarcastic.

  • The beginning sounded a like Final Fantasy battle song. =p

I love Motoi Sakuraba. His work is AMAZING. The drums and guitar in his songs along with the chord progressions are just fantastic.

  • thumbs up if u want Kalas on the next Super Smash bros game =D

  • @XMarkStapletonX I would like to see Sagi in smash bros aswell

  • gotta love the jazz organ solo at 2:00

  • sakuraba is an unstoppable force

  • My favorite RPG, and my favorite video game song!

  • Hey everyone.

I'm currently working of a nice guitar cover of Violent Storm.

    Hope I'll finish it soon.

    Cheers

  • Final Fantasy anyone? :D

  • @egymagnet nope

  • This would f**king crazy on guitar hero X_x

  • @13AxelRoxas

Believe me, it's even crazier on guitar. >_<

  • A shame the voice acting for this game made me play most of it without sound. It has to have one of the best soundtracks.

  • @tirihashi you can turn of the voices in the options lol

  • @tarkeke I am aware of that just too lazy to actually do that XP

  • @tirihashi lol =p

  • hey... the music of baten kaitos was used in ACS game.

  • One of my favs. That and true mirror guitar.

  • still in awe at how the music for this game was

  • from 0- 9 seconds it kinda sounds like the decisive battle from final fantasy 6.

  • @RadikTheReaper1

I thought exactly the same, short time after that i read ur comment while I was about to write that myself.

  • @RadikTheReaper1 yes its used in tales of* ans ACS game. i think is a mix.

  • depending on the choice you make in Origins, the ending of this game makes alot more sense.

  • @WorldWalker128 how? I mean, what is it in eternal wings that didn't make sense? just curious =)

  • Good thing Malpercio wasn't a women, then they would have had to find "tit" along with "he" "che" and so on :3

  • @Darkjamac04 tit.s. :P

  • IMO not the best game, but one of the best soundtracks! ROCK!

  • One of the stage themes in Grand Chase sounds like this... guess thats Sakuraba's influence...

  • Man, Sakuraba's work is so restrained when he only has synthesized instruments, but when he has the resources, he's a genius to behold!

  • @XharchianValor This. So much this. Sakuraba really only shines nowadays when he utilizes orchestral or heavy rock stuff. His synthesizer stuff pales in comparison.

  • @ModelOz don't agree. Tales of symphonia were mostly midi stuff and has some of my favourite alltime gametracks. asgard, raine theme, final destination and kratos theme to name a ^^ don't mean to not let you disagree with me, just stating my oppinion. I think baten kaitos is his best work of what I've heard though. the music is so engrossing and generally not too upbeat, which I think is a good thing. Something I misliked with tales of vesperia and origins

  • @tarkeke Hence the "nowadays". Sakuraba's golden age was pretty much confined within ToS/Golden Sun/GS:TLA/BK/BKO. TotA had some really good tracks, but wasn't that great overall. Vesperia was just disappointing, and his work in Radiant Mythology 2 varies from 'meh' to 'good'.

  • @ModelOz vesperia as a whole was a disappointment imo.no summon spirits damnit! easygoing plot, wasted characters and I wasn't too fond of the battlesystem,it felt clunky.

unfortunately they didn't release tota in pal, so I haven't played it, but it's apparently really good =)

what did you think of his music in eternal sonata? I love the battle theme to death^^

  • @tarkeke Don't even get me started on Eternal Sonata's music, which I somehow forgot about. The music in that game is SEXY. Proof that Sakuraba needs to do orchestral more often.

  • @ModelOz sure :)

  • @tarkeke Or, hell, just fast-paced rock like this. That's why I like a lot of BK and BKO's battle themes. Sakuraba's rock stuff is quite literally never this good.

  • i want this game to be out for wii or for xbox :P

  • after playing Origins, fighting Malpercio was kinda sad...=(

  • @Kalas286 i agree

  • yeah malpercio is a tough bugger. but do it well and Lyude can basically solo him. Make sure he got loads of those light based attacks with 4 numbers (should get plenty of em in Cor Hydrae) and make sure he got the strongest finisher Finale. Just make a final straight sunrise (from numbers 1 to 9) and make sure the 9 is Finale. You should be able to do 10k + dmg right away.

but yeah, this song is awesome. I think it's the best from Baten Kaitos 1

  • The beginning sounds a lot like 'The Decisive Battle' from Final Fantasy VI.

I cannot be the only one that thinks this.

  • Lol, I used an all attack magnus deck. It works really well against everything :D

  • Malpercio was the most annoying son of a bitch EVER........It would always attack me like a bajillion times at once before i could do anything, and i would always yell..."STOP, YOU PIECE A SHIT, ITS SUPPOSED TO BE THE OTHER WAY AROUND."

  • The beginning is epic!

  • Kill The King?

  • I expect a Baten Kaitos for Wii. Nintendo bought out Monolith Soft back in 2007. *Fingers crossed*

  • @FunnyLilCat Even though I want it... It's not going to happen

  • @FunnyLilCat I hope you're right. I've recently started playing Origins and I'm hungry for MORE.

  • @person701 Baten Kaitos is over, there was originally gonna be BKO-DS but that idea was turned down over three years ago.!

  • @unnbroken Yea, I know. =\ It's a shame too because EWatLO is actually quite open for a sequel.

  • @FunnyLilCat Baten Kaitos 3 for the Wii is a no brainer, think about the possibilities of using the Wii mote to grab cards and use them in battle.

  • @Xienis Thats actually a great idea about using the wii mote for grabbing cards.

  • @Xienis That would be awful. At the speed you had to choose them in the first, and ever more so in the second, there's no way you could be quick enough with any type of accuracy to choose the right magnus. Not to say I'm against a BK game on the wii, I just think using the motion to select magnus would slow down the combat way too much.

  • @FunnyLilCat now monolith is working on xenoblade hehe

  • @FunnyLilCat If only that could be true...That would really make me happy!

  • @FunnyLilCat Here's hoping.

    *Crosses Finger*

  • you guys think the voice acting in this game is bad? Watch the intro to MegaMan 8

  • No. Watch all four parts of Animal Soccer World, it will make you go insane.

  • @dragonsword777 lmfao agreed.

  • @dragonsword777

I see you, and raise you X4 and Zoids: Battle Legends!!

  • @Kohdok

    WHAT AM I FIGHTING FOOOOOOOOOOOOOOORRRRRRRRRR!?

  • @dragonsword777 Or MegaManX4. Iris's death scene is PAINFUL!

  • @dragonsword777 Leave Dr. Wahwee alone! You're lucky he even performed for you bastards!

In all seriousness though.. MMX4's voice acting in the scene where Iris dies is so much more ridiculous.

  • @dragonsword777 yea the voice acting was pretty terrible, but the game wasn't too bad

  • @dragonsword777 It's impossible not to laugh at that intro lol.

  • @dragonsword777 Pointing out that some other game has -worse- voice acting doesn't make this one's any better.

... It was the only major flaw of the game, though.

  • @DarkRaven4649 just turn of the va and use your imagination..there..problem solved lol. and what you got is an unique card-concept along with a surprisingly twisty plot. Looking aside from the va, the script is outstanding

  • im conflicted is this or chaotic dance the best track in the game? hmmm

  • chaotic dance is great, but this doesn't get played over and over while giacomo is all like "lol this time will be the time you die"

  • What about 'Ruler of the nine skies'?

  • Intro sounds the beginning of a Final Fantasy VI song: watch?v=VZqazbULRRA

  • I actually liked most of the voice actors...except Xelha's. Goddammit, lady, just SHUT UP.

  • Dang straight! xD

    I'm fandubbing this! =D

  • and one of the special attacks she has doesnt even makes sence! "pre pare to die, sparkle of life". right...im going to die from that

  • She says "Sparkle of Light" you dunce.

  • The voice acting would've been better if it weren't for that constant reverb effect that they make whenever a single gutteral utterance is made, where it sounds like they're talking through a tube. They used pretty lame sound equipment for the voice actors.

  • I read somewhere that they tried to do that muffling sound on purpose; since you're a "Guardian Spirit", it's supposed to emphasize that you're viewing them from another dimension. Or something.

  • I love this game already, but that reverb sound was just a flat-out bad idea. I might have to turn the voices off.

  • @MrStrifeDP They should have made note of that in the beginning, because in reality, everyone who played it just thought it sounded awful. At least they fixed it in origins.

  • @Archlvt what were you expecting? a disclaimer at the startup screen that says "HAY GUYS THE THE VOICE ACTING SUXXORS!!! LOLOLOL WE TRIED TO MAKE IT SOUND COOL BUT WE FAILED LMAO SO TURN OF THE VOICES IN THE OPTIONS MENU KTHXBI" ?

  • well they do say that, as a spirit, you're in a different dimension, so a not-retarded person (i.e anyone besides you) would have picked up on that and figured it out for themselves. they didn't think special ed kids like you would play the game so they didn't put in an unnecessary disclaimer for slow people.

i already died in a ditch, faggot.

  • Ohhh so like, everybody except me heard the sound quality of the voices and thought to themselves "ohhh okay, that makes sense, so it really doesn't sound that bad at all."

    Right?

  • It wasn't even the fact that they sound like they're talking through a tube to me. (Because that makes sense with the whole Guardian Spirit thing)

What got me is that the voice actors don't sound like they are actually into the role of the characters. Just watch the intro, the voices don't sound like the actual characters talking, it sounds like voice actors reading lines off of a paper. Xelha and Lyude were the worst. (pardon me if I misspelled the names, it's been a while)

  • The voice acting wasn't bad. It was the fucking in battle voices that pissed me off.

  • "Say CHEESEBURGER!"

    - I know what you mean.

  • Need a guitar tab of the intro ;o

  • I didn't think the voice acting was as bad as everyone else made it out to be. It's the SOUND quality. Not very often is it the voice actors fault. They didn't write the script and they didn't have control over the fact that it sounded like they were talking into a tin can.

  • I used to love this game. Then Origins came out, and for some reason I stopped liking this one afterwards.

  • both were good, but if you play this one first, origins' feels more fun because you can see the younger versions of many characters. Both have crazy plot twists. Especially this one.

  • I kind of expected Malpercio by end game. I was more surprised with Origins. Seeing the Quaster at the end like that had me completely dooped.

  • i was comparing the kalas twist to the marno twist actually. I think the one concerning kalas was really unexpected.

  • What? Oh that. Yeah, that was totally un-expected. With Marno, I didn't really give it much thought, but it didn't surprise me.

  • I seem to be the only person who didn't have too much trouble with Malpercio. Then again, I was dropping nine-card straights on him better than one turn in three.

Good game, good characters, interesting battle system, horrible voice acting. :(

  • That last line I can agree with. Seriously, those voice actors should be dragged out in the streets and shot for preformance undeserving a game such as this!

  • Lets see who's worthy....MALPERCIO!! god damn i love this battle xD

  • I would buy this game again if they fixed the voice acting and polished up the gameplay/graphics

  • Malpercio was a bitch! Even though I was struggling the whole time, I still had to bang my head to this song!

  • 2:01 - 2:16... ELP?!?!? Who fucking agrees?! Epic nonetheless. :D

  • Malpercio was one hard son of a bitch to fight, but his music is one of the best tracks in the game.

  • The only problem with this game was the voice acting, everything else was amazing.

  • I heard they did that to the sound to make it sound like it was going through a dimensional rift to reach you or some bogus, but no, it just sounded like it was going through someone's asshole.

  • Haha, seriously? They're just making that up. They obviously wanted to save space or something so they mixed audio like shit

  • Awesome epic battle. Malpercio really was a pain if you don't use strong combos. That damn enchanted blade of his healed him so much.

  • I never played this before and yet i love this theme cant get enough^^^^

  • This game kept me entertained for a long time.

  • Such an epic battle theme :D

  • 1:54

  • One of the best songs to fight a boss to. Brings back memories. Very good ones.

  • Baten Kaitos was an incredible game - a deep, indulging story, immersive graphics, stunning attack effects, and great music.

But I think its most important aspect was the battle system... And unfortunately, this was also it's downfall. The card - based system is simple, doesn't require a lot of menu humping, and keeps you on your toes for the duration of the fight. Even random encounters were exciting. But I think most serious RPGers hear the word 'card' and wrote this game off as childish.

  • I agree on some point, but i'd say that the card system can be realy complexe at some point.

As exemple; I had those charms that confuse the character but boosted their stat, well trying to make suite and card pair while confused and with 9cards to pick each attack can be pretty wicked.

Plus orginizing a good deck is not an easy task, you must do some statistic on your own to try to have the most balanced tool of magnus...

  • jeez they need to take the hint tht their fans want another baten kaitos,

i was hoping theyd make one for a year or so, but nothings popped up

  • i know i really want another baten kaitos only for xbox360 or wii at least

  • I agree, I would love another Baten Kaitos, too many people didn't get to see the game, if they remade it, or came out with another one I know it will go big.

  • the reason it didn't do well was because it wasn't advertised like AT ALL. Nobody heard about the game.

  • well it isn't really like they Can make another. Everyone has lost their wings of the heart which played a major role in both the first game, and it's prequel. That, and the islands are no longer islands so much as mountain-tops. The emperor is dead, and magic pretty much is too.

unless they make a game featuring technology vs magic then there won't be much for them to use as a plot.

  • They're making another Golden Sun, so they could probably do something else with Baten Kaitos.

  • Unless they make a prequel to the prequel, and I don't know how I fell about that. Baten Kaitos Rocks but a prequel to a prequel is desperate for money/continuation.

  • They really wouldnt have a choice b/c how baten kaitos 1 ends.

  • difficulty wise, origins was better. but i prefer the first for a more balanced style of play. but theyre both really good titles that should not be overlooked.

  • i liked this game a LOT, but origins was much better imo.
