if not youll have to make room for the humbuckers. which will cost you time / money.

but anyway i recommend you get some high output (18 - 25, less than that isnt high, more than that isnt conrolable with gain.) passive humbucker for bridge

and some single sized humbuckers... like hot rails

or get three hot rails.

anyway you should buy a new bridge.. squire has shit bridges. get a super-vee bridge.

hey there, i have a cheap ass fender STARcaster (hahaha) and i run it thru a peavey valve king 100 half stack. & I AM REALLY sick of the sound comin out(i hear the feedback all nasty and i want really high gain without the nasty screeching feedback it gives me), could it be perhaps thecheap single coil pickups that came wit it? im on tight budget and i really want a change of sound fast, WILL BUYING A PAIR OF EMG 81/85 GET THE JOB DONE FOR ME? fuck diagrams lol I had a prewired Squier strat pickguard with 3 single coils and my friend gave me an EMG. I took out the bridge coil, custom cut the hole for the EMG and wired it on a guess, and it's fucking perfect

It's most likely that I'm not getting it but I might get a Zak Wylde 81/85 set but I'm going to get a pickguard that can only fit two knobs. How can I get ONE volume and tone knob to control BOTH pickups like the one used in Schecter guitars?

@Geetarfrik Hi I just did what you ask, this depends on what pickup you use for rhythm and for soloing, as you may be notice, European guys use more the neck pick up for soloing, something I highly recommend, but Americans like Zack wild make solos almost with the bridge pickup only, so, put the 81 where you like to solo, and 85 for the chunky stuff, my config is 85 bridge 81 neck, and works amazing. feel free to email me for questions.

Yeah, im not a fan of the 81 but i love the 85, and sense its bassier, it evens out the tone a little bit more. I had played an 85/60 setup and thought it was the 2nd best combo ever for my music, sense i cant afford more Novak pups.

Yes they use a quick connect setup.

It's a pain in the ass with schematics, but with regular use (which you will most likely do, it's fine.)

On EMG site you have all wiring diagrams. It is not so difficullt. If you bought just pickups you must buy some 25k pots for tone and volume controlls, 0,1 microFarads capacitator and change your guitar output from mono>>stereo so your battery can live longer.  Emg Rocks

It should fit perfectly man..!Check out the wiring diagram on the EMG site and choose the one that fit with your pots and switch and it should be ok!!!

well it depends on the cavity under the pickguard (which is modifyable if ur good at it =P), and you will need a new pickguard (obviously for the holes xD)

some people dont like such a chunky fat sound in the neck you get from 85

i like 81s in the neck as well 85s are more common in the neck but that dont mean you have to

81s are a sharper sound and i loved the sound you get in the neck with them..

like scoped kind of more so than the 85s

It uses a five way switch. If you bought the kirk hammet set, then it includes everything you need. Its got the pickups, pots, pickguard, and five was switch.

well, emgs have a lot of wiring options, but strats have that 5 way pickup switch, you have to purchase a 3 ways switch in place of that.

but the wiring diagrams on the emg site are very helpful
