  • important! --> in this review the case is simply the RV02. Now there's a RV02B-E (all plain) AND RV02-EW (with window). In both RV02B there r 5 hard disk drives inc. one hot swapable.

  • name a case with a removeable motherboard tray....

  • @DudMan2111

    thermalTake Shark II fulltower case.

  • can i ask, how safe is it mounting heavy graphics cards vertically

  • The only thing i regreat about this case is that it doesn't have a usb 3 port , i know there is raven r03 but is not available in my country's strore ... :-(

  • this, haf x, corsair obsidian 800d... which one please help??

  • @MrShnuggleMuffins i would say the 800D. but its also more expensive

  • @MrShnuggleMuffins Haf x value for money , but plastic and not good for over clocking-water cooling

Corsair is a beauty but if you like crossfire-sli then just don't go for it

    I've chosen this one

  • at 2 min look at what is on screen it says " 3x120mm fan" but he ays " 3x180mm fans" :)

  • OH MY GAWD NOBODY MAKES REMOVABLE MOTHERBOARD TRAYS ANYMORE!!!!

  • rodney got a removable mobo tray fetish. he can't live without one :D

  • so the fans come already in the case

  • lacks soundproofing? imo

  • mobo tray!!!!!! ftw

  • Rodney never mentions that only 3 harddrives can be installed!

  • @Nefus1988 Why do people need RAID? :V

  • @coldReactive Faster loading speed.

  • by the way, can this case or SST-RV02 fit XL - ATX form factor mobo? i'm going a new build for an G1. Assassin

  • @shinkji this case doesn't fit XL-ATX

  • Hi can any one tell if this case will be good for a silent build, how loud are those 180mm fans?

  • @raketenDK did you not watch the video?

  • @stonedcold12 ye but its hard to tell through a camera ;) bought the case and im getting it tomorrow :D

  • hmm, he says the case fits 10.5 inch cards, the gtx 590 is 11 inches according to the reviews but this case is on Nvidia's list of certified cases...

  • i like to look of ft02 better then this rv02, but rv02 is so much cheaper

  • is there anyway to get one of these with the window on the right side?

  • Would a 6950 fit in here? please answer, I'm planning on buying those <.<

  • @OldEnoughVick I have the same concerns, I'm thinking of getting this case + that card :) hopefully my PSU will reach the HD rack.

  • @DecodeAGamer I did my research and if you buy the evolution case it'll fit!

  • @OldEnoughVick what about this version of the case though? :(

  • @OldEnoughVick

yes i have the case and a 6950 it fits fine. even 6990/5970 fits.

  • and also the motherboard is upside-down!

  • @SuperTechmech No, it's turned 90degrees, which makes sense as heat rises so it's better for the GPU heat to rise to go out the top rather than to rise to your CPU.

  • Seriously Rodney, I think you need a different rating system. Everything is a 'kickass' product. Its difficult to tell whats better.

  • @Aldind2x As Rodney have said, he clearly gives more than enough information for you to make up you own mind. or are you just one of those type of people that just does everything that other people says?

  • @sparty007 Clearly, you've missed the point. Not all good products are on the same level of quality. In fact, that is why there are many tailored to different venues: day to day clients, heavy users, and even more enterprise industrial users. Clearly, the word "Kickass" doesn't cover that spectrum.

  • @Aldind2x Probably because he only reviews good products. You don't see him reviewing a shitty case do you?

  • ahh i want the ft02 internals in the rv02! ft02 has great hdd cages, rv02 has shit hdd layout

  • what's better about the RV01? I think this case looks great and I'll probably but it. Can someone tell me why i should get the older model?

  • @zanebrant the main reason is because it has more space for extended atx motherboards, meaning it has more room to put 3 maybe 4 graphics card in sli or crossfire.

  • @zanebrant There really is no reason to get the 1st model. RV02 can use triple SLI or Crossfire. And triple SLi and Crossfire is pretty bad considering it perform the same as duo crossfire and sli due to the CPU bottleneck.... . I think probably like 5% of the population will use triple and like 1% wiill use Quad graphic card. Unless u r that 1% i doubt u will need RV01

  • @zanebrant O yeah! Get the RV02-EW (Evolution). its a upgraded version of this case =) With easier HDD installation as well as modded AP fans so now it can fit a ATI 5970 without removing the grill

  • @sparty007 Yea i think the rvo2 is the much more practical case

  • anyone know a good 3x120mm i can get? i want to buy it off newegg so help will be gr8.

  • @ShitakeStudios scythe makes some, but there crap.

  • @GT5Enthusiast sigh yea... im just going to cool my gpus with fans i suppose. they need to make more kinds of radiators for real.

  • I like the looks of the RV01 way better.

  • @ExorcismSaw that would have to be an aesthetic like then. the RV02 cools way better than the rv01 did.

  • This case is shown on the Silverstone site with a 5970 in it, and thats the biggest card, any current card will fit.

  • The thing that I caught was the 11.5" room for the video card. I have a 4870x2 and it is just under that 11.5"... Whenever AMD releases their 6000 series, I plan on moving to that, hoping that it wont be longer. 160 bucks on newegg with 30 dollar shipping for this case. I am def excited to get this case.

  • @blizbiggy Get it from amazon to save yourself some money. No shipping, and no tax, and also a 20$ rebate from silverstone. Thats what I did. and the whole thing cost me 140$.

  • man i swear, im going to send this guy a motherboard tray as a gift one day

  • @heynicetry

LMAO!!! He seems to be disappointed every time there's no removable motherboard tray. Why the hell does he expect this? It's impractical and the most effective solution which most manufacturers incorporate now is the opening on the motherboard for CPU heat-sink removal. I just don't get why it's necessary to point out the lack of a non-removable tray.

  • @heynicetry send him a thousend! :)

  • i just got rid of my HAF932 for this. the cooling is amazing in this thing, the down side is that the cable management is a bit of a hassle. it also reduces noise VERY well.

  • Is there a medium setting for the fans? high is too noisy and low isn't always enough.

  • @GotenSSJ1 its very quiet at the highest setting. this case holds in noise very well.

  • Will a HD 5870 fit into this case?

  • @EtienneLF Did you really just ask that? It will, but you should look up the length of the 5870 and then watch. :)

  • he must be a lucky guy only gets kick ass products every time never crap items

  • @Dashnikian because he only reviews stuff he likes

  • @DavidPlim I strongly doubt that, he reviews what people send him and since he want em to keep doing that everything get kickass

  • I once considered putting fans on the bottom of a case, but then I realized they'd suck dust and dirt right off the floor and into the case and I'd cleaning those dust covers every other day. This case is even worse because you have to take off the side to get to the dust covers!

    Very poor design

  • @overclockjames Sweep your floors, you disgusting fuck.

  • @Jallandhara LOL Thumbs up

  • @Jallandhara He's got a point, where I live dust filters with positive airflow doesn't even stop the dust from getting into the case. Depends where you live really.

  • @overclockjames TURN THEM AROUND THE DURRRR HURR

  • that thing is SEXY

  • i thought he broke it @ 0.44

  • I want one.

  • "...low speed so you just won't hear on camera.." !!!?? so this is a silent case? Sorry I can believe it... 3 180 mm fans and one more 120 mm fan...too many fans and holes to be near silent. And no damping panels.

I need a really silent case and I am not a gamer...the answer: nothing.

  • @lejoe48 Believe me It is almost silent. This is because the larger fans (180mm) don't need to spin as fast. And the 120mm is a slow spinning model.

  • @JBM12G Thanks a lot for the reply. The search is being laborious. For example the Fortress FT02 has the same fan configuration (and damping panels) and It is not a near silent case..(Rodney review, low speed) It is a quiet case for gamers but I don't need so much cooling. Maybe the Raven 2 is quieter than the FT02 (?) because It is made of steel, so maybe installing damping panels in the Raven could be the solution. I am also considering the FT01, the Coolermaster Cosmos, the antecs.

  • @lejoe48 Maybe you should look at the fractal design define R2. It is silent because It has very quiet fans in it and lots of noise dampening material.

  • @JBM12G Thanks. I was considering the R2 but the dampening material is bitumen which is an unhealthy material. I think so (?). I've read the R2 is not as quiet...

I need a case with the PSU at the bottom but without the top fan. This is really difficult. I can't find it... Now my main option is the Antec Solo with a silent PSU and silent fans, not perfect but... I am still considering the P183, FT01, Cosmos. Thanks!

  • 18db...low or high speed?

  • scheiss amerikaner! kickass product loooooool

  • I have one question, this or RV01 ?? _D

  • @hothom123 RV01 doesn't cool as good.. but it does look better

    More expensive though..

  • What the?! It's almost the same inside as the ft02! why did Silverstone do that?

  • im so confused

  • Case came in today. The Raven is amazing. Recommended...

  • THIS VS RVO1 or Antec 1200?

  • i think its a preety good case is it still avaliable ? i might get it if it is...

  • @CustomCompCreator you can still get this. :)

  • こいつ扱い方が荒いんだよね。もうちょっと丁寧に扱えよ。

  • Comment removed

  • I am confused, the specs say it fits 12.2 inch cards, but some people complain it cannot fit the hd5970?? Will it fit the hd 5870 atleast... i want this case!!!!

  • @pheonixinrage Buy the Raven rv01 case. it fits 5970 and it's better than raven rv02

  • @1pcGAMER4ever1 I agree with you 200% :)

  • @Lionheart1188 Good ;)

Are you Nvidia fan or ATI fan?

  • @1pcGAMER4ever1 I like both brands man, but I tend to go with ATI more :). How about you?

  • @Lionheart1188 I'm a Nvidia fan. 4ever. NVIDIA IS THE BEST! just saying

  • @1pcGAMER4ever1 LMAO I see, good for you bro, I will remain loyal to ATI haha :)

  • @1pcGAMER4ever1 why do u like nvidia? (just asking)

  • @leoncarbon bacause I'm in love in Nvidia (just saying) ;)

  • @1pcGAMER4ever1 yeah its even bigger than the Antec 1200 and Lian Li PC-P80!!!

  • @1pcGAMER4ever1 the rv01 looks like shit and the rv02 fits 5970 to and its a lot better

  • @WaaHaaaa the rv01 is better, bigger and cost more. And it looks better. That's it!

  • @1pcGAMER4ever1 lol my chassi is better cuz it costs more. personail i think it doesnt looks good

  • @WaaHaaaa well, the coolest thing on rv01 is the sliding door. it's awesome!

  • Are the HD5970 Sapphire edition able to fit into this casing ?

  • @736928 yes only iff you remove the middle fan grill

  • Comment removed

  • @Alwyn1000 It has been proven that a 5970 will fit in without any removal of any parts

  • only 10.5? i am very sad to hear that i was gonna buy this but it wont fit the coming gfx cards. thats really to bad.

  • @kakeaaaa He does SAY 10.5, but paying more attention to the measuring tape, you can see that it will fit up to 12 inch video cards.

  • @kakeaaaa NO IT FITS UP TO 12.2 inces cheack the website

  • RV02 or Storm sniper?

  • @mrRocstar96 rv02

  • @mrRocstar96 rvo2 is you have the money or space... if not.. go for haf

  • i still like storm sniper

  • They did this in reverse!

  • can you not plug cable for the front LED's?

  • apparently these are all 100% kickass products.... i beg to differ.

  • @punchy001

    They really are 100% KICKASS.

  • @punchy001 i agree, this case blows if you cant put in a 11.5 inch 5870 or even the 10.5 5850.. manucaturer forgot to futureproof it

  • @deltadiv this case will easy hold 5970s with extra clearance. i know i have this case with a 5970. and future proof? in the future vga cards will be smaller not larger. technology shrinks in size.

  • lol he always sucks in with his toungue after talking

  • this case is almost exactly like the fortess FT02. weird.

  • but the fortress 2 has a better hdd system

  • Also the Fortress FT02 has sound dampening material.

  • FT02 FTW!

  • Only the SS FT02 is 100% better lol for being aluminum/steel instead of having plastic parts.

  • @stupidguyaabbcc the raven is older than the FT02 isnt it? so its the opp of what u say n they are both made by silverstone how is that weird?

  • @stupidguyaabbcc the ft02 is supposed to be kind of an aluminum variation of the rv02

  • @stupidguyaabbcc It is exactly like the Fortress FT02, except for the outside design and exterior pieces.

  • @stupidguyaabbcc yes, very similar, but the FT02 has better hard drive bays, but i will say the raven 02 looks miles better, check my knight rider mod i did

  • It is a good very good case, but if you are trying to build a sys with 3 full size graphic cards then dont get this!

Because your drives cables will be in the way!!!!

    Run dual SLI is fine!

  • Finally got myself a Raven 2. (Thanks 3DGAMEMAN for the review)

It IS a brilliant case, keeps everything nice and cool. It is also very neat and tidy inside the case as well as the outside, since all the cables exit one point.

    And just to note:

You can have cables exit the front of the case and VGA to DVI adapters you might have trouble with if they're too long and/or the lead is chunky.

Just ordered a VGA to DVI cable for my second monitor because I couldn't put the top on.

  • REALLY HARD TO DECIDE RAVEN OR 2!!!

  • raven 1 has a better HDD cage but raven 2 is cheaper and has better airflow in theory. there are also some reports out there of stuck or broken hydraulic door on the 1.

Fortress 2 is about the same price as raven 1 and in my opinion is superior in both form and function to either of the ravens.

  • I love how the window shows off the motherboard. It's like looking at a picture on a wall, one of a kind.

  • The RV01 is more beautiful, but the RV02 is better.

  • @cesar576 can you explain why im debating which to get the only upside ive seen on the rv02 is the cpu hole on tray and the extra cable management holes. I like the looks of the rvo1 and the hard drive tray

  • 10.5 inch GPU clearance? That sure won't fit a 5970 12.2 inch card. Man these cards are getting ridiculously large.

  • It DOES fit a 5970. Because I am sitting with one in my RV02 right now beside me.

All I had to do was remove the fan grill, not the 180mm fan itself.

  • @Mephsee thanks for the reply : )

That's awesome! All good news today, just found out that the Thermaltake level 10 will also fit the XFX 5970 black editon : )

Now to decide, which case I want for my next build.

    Thermaltake Level 10

    OR

    Silverstone Raven RV02

    OR

    Silverstone Fortress FT02

I'm going with the ASUS P6x58D Premium Mobo and i7 920 with 2TB Seagate Barracuda XT 64 mb cache Hard drives and XFX 5970 black edition.

Don't know how well the Tt Level 10 evacuates hot air and cools things.

  • is the airflow of this case really good?

  • Yep. Great AND quiet.

  • dude, that's awesome. seems like at the moment only silverstone cases are able to achieve both quietness and great airflow at the same time.

  • lian li still seems better to me

  • some lian li's are good some are not. they are not that special and are overpriced. This case is designed to take advantage of rising warm air to kill two birds with one stone. It's an elegent solution. It's a pity that the HDD cage is a fail. Can go for a Fortress 2 but that's $100 more. Also, the thermalright R1x is going to be interesting.

  • RV01 or RV02?

  • @xMExHKSx RV02 he says

    =/

  • LOL. Don really like RV02 design. I like RV01 design but there are very little fans and there is no access hole in the motherboard tray(?). Any recommendation for Fullsize tower case that can support mATX, ATX and EATX motherboard, with good airflow, dust filters at every place that have intake fans, hole at PSU mount with dust filter, able to support liquid cooling and space to install large heatsink, and have good ventilation and airflow. (Longest comment so far.) Help help.

  • Corsair Obsidian 800D

  • Try Silverstone Fortress 2 or Coolermaster ATCS840.

  • wait a second... i was planning on replacing my antec 900 case with this raven 02 case and it doesn't has enough room for 11'' plus video cards and it's a full tower? i have a 5870 and fits fine in my current case. i was hoping this full tower case had enough room case i love the innovation and design on the case itself. does the original rv01 have more space in it?

  • People need to stop with this myth the case has no room. I did the measurements and it is 12 inches with center fan, and 14 inches if you decide to take the center fan out. 4 screws and fan is out easily. You can also put in a thinner fan if you choose.

  • Will it fit a coolermaster V8?

  • @SludgeBomber ?????? i wanna know too

  • yes

  • Looks pretty sweet!

But I find it strange how they put the power supply port at the top...

  • They did that to make room for the three fans on the bottom. The design calls for cool air on the bottom to shoot the hot air up, and since heat rises and never falls. Having the power supply up top and the mother board at a 90 angle is a good thing, because the fans are blowing away the heat from these components vertically as oppose to the normal horizontal designed cases. The result: More efficient airflow.

  • I don't agree with you on this one Rodney.

It does NOT have a lot of room inside,

it's hard to fit in long videocards. Many won't fit at all.

And the 5870 and 5970 will not fit at all. Maybe if you remove one of the bottom fans.

But I agree with you that it is a 100% kickass case.

  • 1. It DOES have quite alot of room inside.

    2. First you said 'will not fit at all", but then you go on to say "they will if you remove a fan". So which one is it?

    3. Removing the fan is not really a issue, as you can just replace the fan with a thinner one which allows fitting of longer graphics cards.

  • I meant both. The fans are not meant to be removed, they've been but there as a part of the deisgn. But yes, it might fit if you remove a fan, but I'm not sure though. I will get the RV01 case before christmas.

  • There is nothing to say case fans are not meant to be remove. You can remove it easily . No case is one all be all. You can take things out or leave things in as you see fit.

  • Oh wow, this case looks awesome. Now that I know what this case is from the review, I'm deffinately getting it.

Just curious of whether or not leads can exit the front of the case as well as the back from the top?

I have 4 XBox 360 controllers I'd rather come from the front then the back.

  • Comment removed

  • I'm considering this case...

  • Can the Thermalright Ultra-120 eXtreme fit in this case? Anyone tried?

  • Looks nice, but I own a RV01 and prefer it over RV02 because of the look.

    Good review.

  • w8..can't it fit extended atx?like the evga classified?but it has 8 expansion slots!why not?!T-T

  • Comment removed

  • can you put 5870 in it,will that be good cause air will go up(in cause) and air from 5870 will go down

  • Yes, it will fit.

  • and a 5970 ?

  • It bearly fits a GTX 295, so where have you heard that from? Maybe if you remove one of the bottom fans but no other way.

  • Its not a deal breaker, and as I said it does fit. Just change the stock fan with a thinner one and it fits fine. Mine does.

  • Best case I have ever used. I have never had a case that cools this well. This case blows the cool air up, as heat naturally rises. I? don't know why this has not been tried before. Its simple but genius..

  • @Jascias yo, possible to install a corsair h50 here?

  • Yes you can. You Tube won't let me post a link, but for a pic of it installed just go to DriverHeaven and search for Silverstone Raven RV02 Chassis. Just go through the review and you will see it.

  • one of the cons is that there is no firewire port on the top of the case! The other big flaw is that you dont have a slide door for the DVDROM, taking away the bracket makes it look 10% uglier. Also there is no hole where the cables could come out on the side of the case for those who have there case one side to the wall, so then you could lose all the cables from the eyes. And one big con is why the watercooling holes are at the bottom? lol... havent seen anyone using water with this case yet!
