Aaaaaah... My head is spinning from all the negative comments..... Fricken A... Ppl need to switch to de-caff. All information is good information. I would do the apprentice thing but I have a big problem with big ego ppl. And I've seen the same thing with the tattoos that come out of shops these days alot of them really aren't that great. respect all knowledge good or bad just pick and keep the parts you find important . Now I'm sure I will get negative comments for what I have said...and that
Hey dude, i shoot tatz at my house for now again...and its cool to see someone else take sterilization & cross contamintion seriously as i do...you do everything just like me, but i use disposable tubes...and the videos are great...so fuck these haters!
What a great video, i like it. he was informative, and explained everything to a T. the only thing i can say is that the tat that guy chose is SOOOOOO WHACK! but whatever.... good job dude!
this is why there are apprenticeships, if you're an artist.. put a portfolio together and speak with an artist in a shop. its cool this shits on here so ppl aren't just fuckin each other up.. but i think u should pay ur dues at a shop learning everything and scrubbing everything till it shines
It's funny how when people comment "I'm an apprentice" or "I'm waiting on an apprenticeship" they act like they know something... shut up and wait for your boss to tell you when you know something... for now you don't know sh*t... just saying
@Lov3killz On the contrary, most people serious enough to be pursuant of a tattoo apprenticeship know quite a bit, or should. When I started looking for an apprenticeship, I already knew the basics, I could set my machines, rebuild them, replace parts on them, and was already tattooing on practice material. Truthfully, it isn't overly difficult to tattoo, the real gems of the trade however have to be learned through apprenticeship, otherwise you take big risks.
you know what he's doing a good job and people just need to chill out, he's being safe and doing things right. and for those who hate scratchers i have seen so many bad tattoos come out of shops its sad really, i work down the street from a shop and yeah theyre not good, also most tattoo artists are dicks who think so high of themselves ive been to alot of shops only to get lectures and be treated like an idiot just for asking to be an apprentice, should everyone start a shop at home? hell no!

God just read these posts and scratcher lol thats a funny thing, so many ppl who think they are a pro just because they are in a shop say it the most. but if u really get to know people 90% of artists started by tattooing a friend or someone they knew, i just think its soo funny how people in an industry that is judged so much is soo quick to judge. You know how many people i know that just make up a place that they were apprentaced or never got one and work in shops and are really really good.

Ok.... This is my video which I did about 7 years ago, it was taken from ebay when I sold them and now its all over ebay and websites, I was new to tattooing and needed some extra money my Father did videography work so had the means to make a quick video, I barley new what I was doinf with tattoos (obvoiusly) however as you see with no tattoo below the sleeve line because I worked as a paramedic full time tattooed on the side (this was in my basement) I know a hell of alot about the exposure
Art and creativity can't be taught it can all be trained ...i would respect someone more who learned it on there then someone who set in a office kissing ass to one day get there chance i'll be happy being a fucking scratcher
Im a tattoo artist and i havent used stencils before,., ive done most of my artworks freehanded even portraits, and im good at it,., so shut your noises!! let other artist do their thing!!
@tyob1 you are so right. I don't understand how people can watch this shit and think that they are actally learning. I am all for sharing the knowledge and encouraging new artists in to the industry but you must first have the knowledge before you can share it. Posting videos on YT like he is a master tattoo artist just makes this dude look a complete tool, and has a negative effect on tattooing in general.
he doesn't cover his machine because it "doesn't touch the customer" but what about his hands touching the machine? No barrier on his machine, uses his hands to scoop vaseline from a jar. touches everything thing while setting up then tattoos with same gloves on. This guy is a cross contamanation nightmare. If you're not 100% with cross contamination prevention you may as well not be doing any of it. And I haven't even gotten to his tattooing skill yet.
I've been tattooing for ten years professionally in a reputable shop, So I'm not some jerk off kid giving you hard time. But as far as not wrapping up your machine why wrap any thing your hands get blood on them and you touch yourmachine and that is cross contamination you will get people sick just cause you can't see it didn't mean it's not there not only was I taught to wrap it up but after every use wipe them down with a waveacide rattling is to be respected you can end up killing someone.
Great Vid mate, at the risk of being repetitive ignore the critics, Personally i love all these vids on utube, first time i used a machine i had rely on my own memory of what the artist did. so eveytime u pick up one tiny bit of good info, makes the bad ones worth watching, these utube vids are a lot better than some of the so called pro vids that u pay for.
cant stand these scratcher comments i know scratchers that do better work than alot of people in shops and everyones got to start somewhere look at Tim hendricks
Iv seen plenty of good artists doing good jobs on YouTube videos. But for some reason, all anyone has to say is "scratcher" or "fuck that shaky hands". Shaky hands mean nothing. The lines are clean. And scratcher? That's coming from who. Some joke sitting at home scribbling on the back of his hand with a ball point pen? This guys doing a good job. You haters putting up vids so your work can be judged? Didn't think so. Shut your mouths
@stormwoolley not saying your wrong cause most of the people are douche bags pointing out every little thing wrong with it.. but theres a way to tattoo and theres ways no to.. and some people on here do a damn good job but are gonna scar the skin and ruin the tattoo after it heals.. and just because a tattoo looks nice when its first done doesnt mean anything i've seen an amazing portrait get tattooed and by the time it was heal it was just eyes and a mouth cause it wasnt done right.. just sayin
First off, not everyone watching these videos are scratchers, I'm actually waiting on an apprenticeship slot to open up at a place in town I get my ink done at. Do I have a kit? Of course I do. Do I practice at home? Of course I do, do I put any ink on real people, fuck no I don't. I practice on practice skin, pig skin, grapefruit and potatoes. I should also note, I take sterilization and cross contamination very seriously and practice safely.
@Tw0Swords 1) You should DEFFINATELY use pet. jelly(vaseline) or ive heard some people use A&D ointment. ive found that A&D creates smother lines but its slippery and you can fuck up lines if you go too fast. Vaseline is thick and sometimes your lines wont go in on the first pass. Either way, it hurts more without lubrication. 2) Don't know exactly you might not have gone in far enough and when it healed the middle of the line scabbed off.
Hope my shity advice was better than these assholes.
@zstahlg "2) Don't know exactly you might not have gone in far enough and when it healed the middle of the line scabbed off." I agree with this advice. If you don't go in far enough the layer of skin you tattooed will scab off and peel (like it does normally for a tattoo), but since you didn't go in far enough the ink comes off with the skin because it's not in the deep enough layer, hence the ink disappearing.
@depikt dont you think someone whos just thinking about getting an apprenticeship would be glad to see what tattooing is about? I do so. I´ll get an apprenticeship and tought i think this vid is very helpful. sorry if i made some grammatical mistakes, i´m not native. And don´t take this as an affront, i´m just mentioning.
@depikt Easier said over the internet than done, not all of us are fortunate. And think of it, the old timers trained themselves, nothing wrong with doing so if you follow the procedures and don't act such a clown about it, the hygene is more important than the tattoo at the best of times.
I think this guy is one of the security guards in Idiocracy. "This machine will tattoo a certain individual upon contact with of the skin to the needle of a pracitular standup."
I really like this video.. I dont do everything the same but its really a good start point, most of the people on here stating its bad truly have no clue what the world they are talking about very easy to be a critict when its not your work being displayed!
you dont use the same ink for the whole tattoo change it because you will get blood and crap in it and dilute it simple fact most descent artists know!!
That is the dumest think I ever heared what I hat emore than someone who missleads someone is someone who trys to critisize someone that is clueless!! Why wouldnt you use the same ink? Have you ever even tattooed someone before doubt it, this is a good start video, I like it and I have been tattoing for 15 years..
Ok Scracther Im not! As explained I have been tattoing for over ten years, I own a shop! So I will say again, Im also a certified EMT, I know a little about blood born pathogens and changing ink threw a tribal tattoo again pure waste of time, and money, if you feel that is something you need to do than who am I to get in your way, but dont critic a person that does it the same way everyone else does that s ok!!
i want an apprenticeship, i practice at home too, i did my legs already, and any good tips are welcome, and this guy helps, so fuck you haters.
