  • Wow. This is EXCELLENT guitar artistry! Great tone & feel.

  • Germans make good stuff...amazing song :-)

  • @TheAlexguitar26

Sure, good stuff, like the Holocaust. While the guy plays with the guitar, his grandfather tore the nails of the Jews with a pincer. This is intended as a sarcastic comment... but also not. : (

  • leaves of absence? More like winter.

  • his finger/fret board shines a lot! any idea guys what the finish its got?

  • @nigelptl it's called playing it

  • Nice groove!

  • sounds like he is soloing over pink floyd division bell backing track...very good though

  • so skilled

  • wow

  • Besser gehts nicht, oder? great stuff.

  • I talk to this guy every year at NAMM. He's a Hughes & Kettner guy. SUPER gifted guitarist with mountains of finese, and he's a pretty nice dude too !!

  • love it!

  • Yeeah, this is how the Strat should be used. I love the tone - distorted but still Stratocaster. The right benchmark. H&K should pay this guy like a sheikh.

  • god fu&#in bless, man!! gorgeous rock music. euphoria. the dude is so down to earth, too. maybe there is hope for humanity?! thx, mr. blug.

  • the backing track is sooooo pink floyd...division bell... it is tho innit

  • great vai beck hendrix in 1

  • wtf!? why doesnt this have a million views!? it deserves way more then 88k !

  • @blackhawk1788 its because know one knows him. he is one of the best without a doubt id put him over most, he just plays guitar like no other.

  • Incredibly beautiful!

Thank you Thomas for sharing your gift!

    Shalom

    Andreas

  • Thats fantastic , mesmerising.

  • Thats a really great sound from a Strat....

  • @tonymckenziecom

a would say, thats a hughes and kettner sound ;)

  • @sfentonas11 it is...thats true you can hear the amp - they are (at least to me very toppy) but that suits a strat - especially a great sounding one... its a great sound but maybe with other guitars its too toppy... I did use some H&K before but never bought one.... the strats on the other hand... I have a few... ;-)

  • wow...can´t stop watching this

  • i have a mesa rectoverb i'll trade someone for a USA fender deluxe strat:) and yes i'm serious. this just made me want my strat even more, lol. i prefer maple fretboards but, whatever.

  • Bravo Thomas!

  • so this is what germans do when they are not playing some football

  • @2Funky4me this and drinking beer! sometimes at the same time

  • Anyone know where I can find a backing track for this song?

  • that tone is why i play a stratocaster :)

  • WOW! was not expecting that

  • Thomas proves to be a great guitarist. I appreciated their sound, sensational!

  • Once your at that level, practice is not as important as playing from heart. His noodling took care of the technical stuff as well as touch. When the whole song come together, he can just let out the emotion and soul he has. You should hear some of his other stuff. I have two of albums and they will blow you away, especially Paul's Blues......incredible.

  • Brilliant!!! man this is awesome!

  • this guy must be the offspring of Steve Vai and Eric Johnson!

  • Great feel and sound!

Reminds me a bit of Steffen Schackinger (check him out).

  • actually lovely AWESOME SONG but he didnt play half as good as on his live dvd ....

    :P

Love the song though,,,too much :)

  • Love it.......hot... a touch like a buterfly!

  • geil

  • 1:15 ??

  • @victor0890 tapped harmonics.

  • step by step giving us real emotion melodic line ? perfect!!!!

    thanks for music!!!

  • 5:49 mistake? Still, I love this guy's playing.

  • The way he uses his volume knob, how he's constantly switching pickups, his mastery of that quirky old vibrato system...I have never seen anyone who is so very tight-knit with his electric guitar.

    Thomas is something else...

  • does anyone have BT 4 this song?

  • a guitar that talks. simple as that.

    dont even need a wahwah.

  • One of my favorite guitar player with Steve Lukather.

See you later maybe on SixAndFour.

  • sounds like andy timmons and satriani.

  • 6 dumpasses missed the thumb up...

  • Steve Vai'ish

  • Is there actually a lesson to this in this as it's from Lick Library? They don't seem to have this DVD.

  • i want too say thank you for this inkredible gitarist(thomas blug)t for this great music.

i try to go on his website, but i fail.

so,when i dont can make it,please do someone other please.

    thank you all.

    i love this music.

    Gordon

  • Very, very Nice!!!

  • This guy has a great tone and approach, I saw a video of him 2 years ago and liked his playing alot. Great stuff.

  • andy timmons feel!!!!

  • This sounds frighteningly similar to Richie Kotzen and Greg Howe's song "Tarnished With Age" from their "Tilt" album. So similar it's not even funny.

  • ist des eine ´fender jeff beck

glaub ich hatt nämlich paar schrammen

  • It sounds like if David Gilmour and Steve Vai had a child together... AMAZING!!!

  • Yeeeeeeeeeee,

    but he's Timmons school right?

  • @nanni12

Timmons was the first player i thought of too...lovely, lovely players, both of them, both with that woody, organic single coil scream

  • @snk07 Must have been a threesome with Jeff Beck ;-)

  • holy shit are these stock pickups?

  • STI KAZZI!

  • gibts davon irgendwo noten?

  • very nice feeling and tone

  • yeah, talk about talent now!

i bet Thomas puts some serious work into practice, too

    : )

  • @vinta9e talk about influences - beck

  • Excellent tone and playing.

  • Hughes & Kettner <3

  • viel besser als Satriani und Vai zusammen, meiner Meinung nach.

    Sehr berührend.

  • i meant the amp

  • VERY NICE!!!

  • Einfach nur klasse.

Einer der besten Gitarristen der Welt meiner Meinung nach.

  • awesome!!!

i do understand that he is european champ of strato.

  • how do i get tab for this?

  • Hi gutterssnipephil By the KDM company he has a great book with cd and tabs, search in the net KDM verlag Blug Thomas

  • One of the greatest sound I ever heard on YouTube! His strat has a big big soul in its sound!

Thomas is a huge talent,a brilliant player!

  • Wow!!! That Was Truly Some Awesome Guitar Playing!! You Are Definately The Strat King, Thomas Blug!! Keep Rockin' Forever!!!

  • wow amazingly skilled!!definitely a great deal Ritchie Blackmore influence. he scalloped the neck too

  • his song "stratking" is just the best

he's one of my absolutely favourite guitarists of all time...so much feeling!!!

  • thomas blug and carl verheyen are the best guitar players of today

  • there's also some neil zaza

  • met him on several occasions. one of the most humble people i ever met. and always so kind and nice to his fans. kind of trats them like friends... very rare move from musicians

  • wow a class tone h and kettner amps r sooooo good how much do they cost i really want one after hearing this...anyone know...

  • the one he plays is about 2500-3000 euro

  • i got the same one he has, cost me 4,500 canadian

  • dig that tone man!

  • definitely some little wing....influence....yes ???

  • he knows how to play the guitar and make some tasty music

  • o cara eh boomm!! translating this guy is awsome!

  • Yeah Thomas Blug is an amazing guitarist! In fact, I think he has become my new favorite guitarist. Be sure to check out some of his other songs, because they are all incredible!

  • This old Strat is a living organism like "Christine" (The car) hahaha.

  • taste of kissed by a rose performed by seal!

nice tone... a little to harsh for my ears!

  • Damn Sweet!!!!

  • Wow. Perfect tone, perfect technique, perfect.

I can't find anything to criticize here, damn!

Even his 'grown up rocker' haircut is cool.

  • I think I have a new guitar idol.

  • Pure soul

  • why i just heard of him today, damn.

Him, and Steffen Schakinger are now my recent favourites

  • Fantastic stuff! Melodic, rhythmic and with just the right amount of 'wanking' to excite fellow players...

Remind anyone of Knopfler? Not to take anything away from Thomas.

  • WOW! amazing I love this guitar player

  • Thoms Blug, one of the best ever...so much soul in every note, how can you not love his style....

  • great....i love my fender strat....and my ibanez too;-)

but every guitarplayer must have a fender strat;-)

but how guitar you are playing is just one think, the most importend think is....practise,practise,practise,practise and practise;-)

  • I've got a Fender Strat and a Ibanez too:)But I dont know what kind of Ibanez it is..

  • fender strat and an ibanez rg with a good amp and a kickass pedal board are all you will ever need.

  • and talent, dont forget about the talent...

  • how the hell do you get that tone?!?!

  • The magic of a Hughes & Kettner stack, I know i'll probably get shot down by a bunch of Marshall fanboys/girls, but in my opinion they can't be beaten. Try one out at a guitar shop, you'll be amazed!!!

  • This glassy, 3D cannot be gotten by any amp other than the H&K. Trust me.

  • Glad someone agrees! :P

  • I'm guessing you've never heard of the Diezel Herbert/ENGL SE670.

  • Well, let's hear them nailing this tone then?

  • Unfortunately I'm far too poor to own either of these amps, else I'd dial in the tone and give a sound recording :(

There's no reason why you couldn't get this sound from these amps though, considering they're supposed to be able to pretty much do it all.

  • "There's no reason why you couldn't get this sound from these amps though, considering they're supposed to be able to pretty much do it all."

Fatal flaw right there, my friend. There's no such amp, except for maybe the Axe-Fx, but it's a digital simulator, not an amp.

  • It depends on your qualifier for tones. Since every amp has its character, then of course amp X would likely not be reproducing amp Y's tones exactly (just talking about tube amps), however speaking of objective tonal range and quality, there ARE tube amps out there which are amazingly versatile (and carry a hefty price tag). Your initial comment seemed to come across as 'There's no amp that can get a tone of this type that's this good, HEH.' and if so I'd like to suggest that this is incorrect.

  • I see where you're coming from, but that's certainly not what I meant. I acknowledge the existence of other great amps out there (in fact I've bought a few others to complement my Triamp,) I'm just saying you can't get this tone from other amps.

  • amazing

  • Amazing! i love his style

  • sounds like porno music

  • Haha kinda :D I like this song

  • yeah ahahah

  • 1:50 Is that the same chord progression as Pink Floyd 'High Hopes'?

  • It's similar... i think there is only one chord missing ;)

  • any1 know what stratocaster is this one? i dont think its a 71 like someone says

  • 61'

  • wow cool stuff.

  • Wow very impressive song man, loved it

  • this guy sounds alot like andy timmons... but of course they have their differences.. id like to see andy use harmonics like this guy

  • Wow...

  • is there a gp 5 tab of this song?

  • can see a lot of Hendrix influence. man o man!! awesome.. im speechless. the harmonics @ 1.17 made me go ouch! :D

    way to go brother!!

  • the fretboard has wax

  • so?

  • nothin' i just noticed

  • Whatta great guitar player.

    His harmonics are awesome!

Good job, Thomas. You've became one of my favorites now.

  • just been told to have a look by a mate who is a superb guitarist in his own right, and yes this guy is brilliant, though perhaps not as good as andy taylor from duran duran.ahem.

  • He is one of the best!

  • He plays the volume knob like an instrument, amazing dynamics.

  • an absolute master of the strat, knows his guitar well and the stress it can take, he shows JUST WHY he is STRAT KING of Europe.

he shows great talent and I'am happy I found him on lick library a year ago, glad to see him here on the tube, he blows me away with his playing.

  • Oh thats nice.......work.....

  • dass ist goot ja..! ist vunderbaa

  • whoa! how can strings stay in tune? his guitar has no locking tuners or even a floyd rose..

  • He's just that good ! he knows how much stress that strat can handle, he knows it well !

  • this vid never gets old

  • this is so much better than all those dickhead guitarists that basicly wank on their gutiar doign some hell fast shredding thing that sounds the same everytime. this is real guitaring

  • I think all the fusion theory heads with all their super locrian and lydian flat 7 ramblings can learn a lot from this guy about musicality.

  • Totally agree. It's not like theory-masters become Jimmy Page or something like this dude.

  • that's how a strat must sound

  • what a great player

  • beautifull 1961 strat given to him by fender for best strat player!!

  • an absolute master of the strat, knows his guitar well and the stress it can take, he shows JUST WHY he is STRAT KING of Europe.

he shows great talent and I'am happy I found him on lick library a year ago, glad to see him here on the tube, he blows me away with his playing.

  • No more words to say.

I hope you get the world on your feet.

You are one of the best players i have heard here on you tube. Good playing whit soul and feeling en some shreds.

    Nr 1 for me.

Keep it up. (yeah i have a new guitar hero)

  • brilliant!!!

  • eloquently picked notes. very expressive bends. great balance of speed and soul. truly a master of his craft. \m/

  • that was very jeff beck!! if you just listen to it.without the video itscreams jeff.

  • That was a fucking clinic! Just what he did with his bends alone any guitarist can learn from. He reminds me of Gary Moore at times with occasional suggestions of Jeff Beck. He milks everything proper and how spins up to his vibrato is killer! The dynamic control was also excellent. Thanks for posting this!

  • Ahhh Thomas. Tasteful as always. An the TONE!!

There's a tune played by Thomas on a Guitarist CD (UK), showing the HK Triamp. Anyone know the tune, if it´s part of an album or something?

    Peace.

  • Track 4 of his new DVD and track 5 on his album 21st century guitar ;D

  • damn!who is this guy, and why havnt i heard of him before?

  • blown away, this guy has the lot, not a guitar god. just GOD....

  • Thomas is THE guitarist who knows how to make that Strat talk, man. An ace player with great dynamics, phrasing + TONE. He knows just when to lay back, when to push it, what to leave out & what to put in. Never get tired of his playing, could listen all day to such great style

  • you got guitar skills!!!

  • Damn....think I finally found the style I wanna play O.O

  • That was great.

  • awesome

  • NOW THIS IS A GUITAR GOD

  • Thomas that has so much feel and inspiration it's been years since I heard stuff like this I love the sound of those single coils!

Amazing technique he has that disinct sound of his own gorgeous well chosen notes I am an instant fan!!

  • Nice tune, brilliant sound (what effects are in use?) and really good hand work!

  • Great playing,indeed!

  • great video! thanks for posting!
