I'm a bandwagon fan, but this is by far my favorite production of Songs for a New World. Our Drama Director did directing for Cirque Du Soleil and Ringling brothers, but I still don't think we could pull this off.

Amazing wonderfully acted. I love this song. I havn't ever seen this on the stage but i have the alubum the music is wonderfull. one thing that bothers me though he sings "i had a house while you were gone, a week after you left me" but dosn't he leave her??

Actually, (@jungleride) this play doesn't follow a linear pattern. These two seem to be the only characters that repeat, but nothing about them is ever explained except what is said through the songs, so it's never clear who left who.

Well, there's one lyric at the beginning of this song where Man #2 says "the week after YOU left me," so it can be assumed that she left him, he didn't leave her.

Yes, but during 'The World was Dancing' with the same two 'characters' the man talks about running away from the life he has planned with the woman. So while in this song, yes she left him- but in the context of the show; there are no characters, just personalities and situations.

Both Holmes and Womack were quite good. Again, the pianist rocks. This is the best I've heard these songs out of a high school performance, and even better than some of the college ones. ;)

I did this show in California and I was Man II and this song is tough to interoperate. In my production, we had just met again after...oh, I dont know...a divorve/breakup etc. and had been resisting each other throughout the song til the last chorus-then as the music slows down in "In know I fell too far" pause kiss. Then she backs up, realizing its wrong and runs off....so this was a totally different apporach to this for me.
