before i say this let me preface: i love bruce, i think his best vocals is on the song "for the greater good of god". but he is completely sucking out all the punk qualities of the song with his very amateurish sounding, pseudo- operatic voice.

it's not a matter of how he hits de high or low notes, it's about this song being composed ans sang a way that only D'ianno did be cause he was the singer ans part of the band at that time. Then Bruce Dickinson is indeed the greatest Maiden singer cause without him comming to the band they would never been the greatest metan band ever. But the impact of Di'Anno in the early days and the way the guy sings it's enough to consider the fact that maybe some songs of this period are better with him.

Thanks he got into Maiden and became well-known, he's one of the best rock singers ever (though some Maiden's fans prefer this song with Di' Anno, it's obvious Bruce's a much better singer).

Listen to the dark notes at the begining and the high ones in "sky" and the screams...very few singers can show such a huge vocal range (4 octaves) in only one song. UNBELIEVABLE.

(And he still owns this vocal range today, though not so high)

They got tired of having to cancel gigs and with his complaining, so either he left eventually or they told him he's out.
