  • nice.. you played it very well..

  • Very nice, but you need much better sound quality to do justice to your playing. Lindos Electronics are trying to improve Youtube sound with the Minisonic mic kit (I work on the development). Take a look at demos on the Lindoselectronics youtube channel.

  • DID YOU GET IN?

  • why does it remind me of avatar?

  • @chungmanchang i hear it! lol

  • No chance.

  • Wow. Really great ideas here. You've got a great left hand, and great timing. Good stuff!

  • Think this is rather beautiful and you have a great talent. :)

  • You must be a Ludovico Einaudi fan! If not, listen to his music. It would really inspire you! :)

  • great stuff.

  • did you pass the audition?

  • did you pass to berklee?

  • Your tones are very whole, thats important to writing good music.

  • ITunes? Please put out an album and win a Grammy or something this is fantastic.

  • so did you get in?

  • the audio quality is terrible, in terms of recording...

  • this is VERY goood i hope you made it in to berklee :)

  • this is very beautiful

  • midi piano ??

  • gave me chills!

  • Very clever! And I enjoyed listening to it which is the most Important part.

  • Ehh... Not that great, sounds like a clichéd composition that someone who doesn't know much about music theory would write... Slightly reminiscent of iron maiden

  • @Deathization haha dude, wtf? I really don't think you have any right of speech. Especially when u start calling her ''Slightly reminiscent of iron maiden'' when I decided to check your account and still wasn't able to find ''your sound'' cause the only thing I heard were dual guitars, and standard minor scales going up and down on your guitars while one was an octave higher. So don't start bullshitting on her composition while your just making an fool of yourself. God I hate when people do that

  • @Frinkendel 1. i said the iron maiden thing because of her tendency to fall into the whole making a melody over the tonic minor chord and then making slight variations over the major 6th and 7th chords as iron maiden does (also, the clansman is a song in particular that this reminds me of but it might just be me)

  • @Frinkendel 2. there was actually at least 4 intricate-ish guitar parts in both of my videos (which i added a year ago and have grown by MUCH since) and i dont know of any instances where there were "standard minor scales going up and down on [my] guitars while one was an octave higher" in them so please comment on my video(s) to help me better understand your point :) (also the recording quality was preeeetty bad on my videos)

  • @Frinkendel 3. this piece has a simple melody in the right hand with the left hand playing broken chords under it - the bottom arpeggios are not as thought out as they could/should be, because most of them violate the parallel 5ths rule and she mimicked the left hand part from chopin's revolutionary etude a few times (not purposefully im sure). And the bulk of the piece is doing the iron maiden thing i said earlier

i hope this better illustrates and validates my point of view for you

  • @Deathization smh lol another hater on youtueb..thats why people go to berklee so they can become better musicians. if she was already knowledgable with her craft she wouldnt need to go there, huh?

  • just great

  • Berklee is a scam.

  • @Whatisthescore how is berklee a scam?

  • Congratulations on 36,544 views! You have more views than several eminent living composers. Good luck in your career.

  • I'd love to hear a more polished and pro recording of this. Very lovely composition.

  • ooooooo nice chords in the beginging. They add a lot of interest the melody

  • But, he's just a little kid!

And it just doesn't matter...does it?

    Beautiful.

  • did you get i??

  • beautiful....watch mine? :)

  • siiick. now lets add some bass and drums and turn up the energy. i could hear this picking up and turning into a hiromi-esk fusion ballad

  • Now imagine you are a professional pianist. What would you do different? To me, two of the most important things in good compositions (besides a catchy melody) are stretching out some of the voicings (chopin) and trying not to play too much in one spot. Even if the chords are changing, staying in one register too long can get boring.

By the way I liked it. Just giving some input for what I think would make it even better.

  • good job how is the school?

  • The chord progressions and the very serene melodyline remind me of some of Rachel Portman's work

  • i love your aong! it's awesome!

  • Wow this is amazing!!!

  • i fell asleep

  • Its very good would be better with an orchestra put to a film. Well done.!

  • is this for scholorship?

  • Awesome. Did you receive any scholarship? What are the job prospects like after graduating from Berklee?

  • nuthn bad im just askn. u did a great job!!!!!!

  • does it call foe all the head movement

  • I have songs in my head but I cant get them out.

  • very good i can hear a lot of japanese influence :)

  • beautiful

  • Hey, im gonna audition i was wondering if you could give me some advice, look at my video of my original composition, i posted it as a video response. Also i was wondering if they ask you for the papers of your compositions. Im also applying for film scoring, hope to see you there, greeting from mexico!! and thanks for any help

  • My big dream was to go to this college. At the time I graduated high school, Berklee just opened Film Score as a major.

    But...

I didn't have the money, the "expertise," or... the money! lol! Anyways, I still have fun as an "amateur" composer. Feel free to check out my crappy music on my channel :)

  • im 13 and i want to go to berklee so bad right now lol

  • @CCChhRRRiiZZZ don't go there. It is a scam and will not give you what you are looking for. They only want your money.

  • Comment removed

  • Where on earth did you find that information?

  • @Whatisthescore ive definitly heard this a few times before and i really wana go ther so like are u just pullin that outa your ass or ...?

  • @JamesCornelisonMusic I am just trying to get people to understand how unethical Berklee's business agenda is..look at what i sAy on the video called "berklee allstar quartet part 1"

  • how long have you been playing?

  • mindblowing

  • No joke this is in my top 5 of favorite piano compositions.

  • Very pretty composition.

  • Comment removed

  • wow,you are very talented

  • you have to have an instrument no matter what

  • what about for a songwriter? what audition is that lol? a portfolio maybe but thats it?

  • berklee requires that you play an instrument no matter what, even if your only doin music bussiness. the firtst few semesters you take lessons on your main instrument. then you pick your major

  • I know this was four months ago. But what the hell.

You need to perform a composition of yours on your instrument of choice. I think the maximum duration is three minutes, but I'd check their website just in case.

For the interview that follows the audition, bring a fat portfolio and be prepared to answer some questions about musicianship and commitment! Wow them! :)

To the person who composed this lovely piece, it's exquisite; your playing is also very lyrical, if you don't mind me saying!

  • soo they dont look for songwriters huh? just composition of instruments not words

  • You can audition for voice. The voice is an instrument, believe it or not. They do want songwriters. Composers and songwriters are the same thing.

  • It sounds Morricone-esque to me. I obviously don't mean his sweeping western scores but quieter moments in his soundtracks. Kind of like Morricone filtered through modern Japanese classical composition.

  • I hope to see your composition in a film, some years later ...

    Your composition make me dream.

  • Berklee is the best place for pop and rock musicians PERIOD.

  • and Jazz

  • Dude.. this is righteous.. you are beyond awesome

  • what piece is this?

  • Read the title - Original Compostition.

  • so did she get in?

  • u make me want to hug u

  • LOSER

  • Well i know that but there has to be a certain grade! Usually its between 6 & 8

  • did you get an scholarship for composition

  • wow this is beautiful Im a singer but I want to learn how to play piano it sounds gorgeous.

  • what grade is required for this college?

  • the grade of creativity

  • HA! Nice answer. And it's totally true. Berklee doesn't pay too much attention to your GPA.

  • whats a GPA? do they have any requirements like for example: bach invention numer 13. ?

  • GPA- Grade Point Average from your highschool. Most colleges look at that, but not this one. No I don't think they require you to play anything in particular

  • it depends upon what instrument you plan on playing there. For instance, I am applying for guitar, so they require you to play

    1) a blues progression

    2) solo over a blues progresssion

    3) a song of your choice 3-5 mins long

    4) sight-read a piece (15 mins of preparation)

    5) pitch, ear test (you play back something they play you)

I think there's one other part but I can't remember

  • They require like a 2.0 or something lol... ummm they might require a blues... and improv over something. It depends what genre ur going into (jazz, pop). That's my very limited knowledge of Berklee lol

  • @Suzanne513 I got in to Berklee with a 2.1 GPA :)

  • reminds me of Ecstasy of Gold

    excellent

  • you have a beautiful talent girl

  • reminds me of Joe Hisashi work

    beautiful piano melody

  • That was amazing, I really loved it. You are a true musician.

  • if they didnt take u after playing sumthing like that they gotta be nuts i felt like i was in a scene from a final fantasy game lol good job n u sexy too damn

  • Yeah, I'm not sure, but there seems to be some Nobuo Uematsu influence :)

  • I totally see that dude thats exactly what i was thinking but maybe not. still this reminds me COMPLETELY of all of his music. good call.

  • Nice composition.

  • I enjoyed it.

  • Im gonna audition for berklee...

Has anybody gotten in? what is the standard like?

++ can you play more than one song? because i would like to show them me playing guitar + piano..

    thanks

  • You have to play one. unless you like sing while you play guitar or piano.

  • dude.. beautiful music, and smokin hott!! nice!!

  • she wrote it herself? shes got a commercial ear, and a brilliant music career ahead of her

to u complainers..sounds lovely to me and well paced..what you want ,the warsaw concerto ?

  • The audition is about showing your skill not about show off with a beautiful simple piece. She probably did amazing on the ear tests and sight reading to get in.

  • doenen... she got in. and i am glad she did. mind you that she COMPOSED this piece. to be able to compose such a piece with so much emotions and character, it sure isn't easy. its sure talent :)

    great piece!

    -LeB-

  • Pretty piece :)

    Did it get you in?

  • they are fucking idiots if they didn't grab her let alone give her a scholarship

  • I don't mean to come across as offensive but I expected Berklee's standards to be way higher. Maybe I've been watching too many Hiromi vids.

I like the composition, I really do, I was just expecting a higher technical difficulty level.

  • doenen ! music is not just about techniques!

simple songs with great emotions can be great too

  • i kinda agree with both doenen AND you, because it's true that music is not just about technique, but i guess when you think about how this was for a college audition... some people might expect a bit more.

it's kind of like listening to yiruma and saying yeah, his pieces are nice but sometimes you wish they could be a bit more complicated technically?

i played a much harder piece for my audition. but that could have just been me being stupid and paranoid..

  • I think this would be more than enough to get in. A beautiful composition and she played it beautifully. You could play something more technical, but at the end of the day isn't music's purpose to be pleasant to the ear?

  • mee too,

i was in for a little more dynamic, technical difficulty, and well, just "smack in the face" finger skill.

  • That almost made me cry, good job. Wow 5/5

  • this is an inspiring piece!! It reminds me of the beatiful paintings in the background..

  • ahh you berklee students making us feel bad about ourselves again.....

  • lol, what do you mean by that swamy?

  • Thanks for the goosebumbs...I too wish to attend Berklee one day.

  • sounds like video game music.

  • Outstanding. Great variations on the opening theme, yet maintaining a cohesiveness throughout the whole composition.

  • Amazing! You inspire me!

  • A beautiful piece of music i have no criticism. Don't ever stop playing, those who can connect with music have a gift and a blessing unlike any other, one of the greatest things in this world and you have it and no-one no matter how talented can make your talent and accomplishment any less great, you have a true ability and i would love to hear more of your music.

  • Generic, but well composed. Congratulations on getting into Berklee.

  • great

  • great .. iam playing piano and composing too .. and i totally like your style.

  • you are amazing.

  • Oh my God... Dione.... its me! Ed!

I saw these videos of you AGES ago... I had no idea it was you until I just watched them again.

  • Sounds like music from Final Fantasy... but I do like it alot...

  • Nice piece adn well played. I think maybe you laboured the main theme a bit much though.

  • Excellent!

  • absolutely beautiful, I can imagine this in a movie.

  • I liked it. I'm also a composer

  • You are absolutely brilliant

  • I;ve listened to your stuff and I am very impressed you would make a very good film composer

  • Film scoring? Thats what I want to do. Im sure your reach your goal. Execellent.

  • how hard is it to get accepted to berklee?

i'm thinking about applying there and doing something with guitar or bass

  • i love it ... welldone

  • gotta love dorian.

  • very expressive, nice job, I can tell that you are classically trained, my style is somewhat similar to yours, if you get a chance, check it out at soundclick(dot)com /PianoSoulos, I am on the front page of the Classical Charts, good luck to you!

  • absolutely beautiful!!

  • woah nice.

did anyone said sg has got no talent.
