This is especially the case in China and Japan, where respect and manners are much more important than here in the US, where (at least in my experience), no one seems to be polite anymore.

Alright, I haven't read the comments so please don't give me shit if someone else already said this (I'm sure they have). In other cultures, bowing to someone is a sign of respect, not inferiority. This is especially the case in China and Japan, where respect and manners are much more important than here in the US, where (at least in my experience), no one seems to be polite anymore.

Because of their strategic location, among other reasons, Japan wants a strong ally, so this over bow was a failure on many levels; not to mention its insulting nature to the people who voted him in to office.
