Cinelerra is close to professional grade. But their theme and icons are so ugly, not many people want to take them seriously.

Blender would be great for professional video editing once they decide to take care of the audio track. metalx1000 done some awesome tutorials for both of them.

The new Openshot is by far the best editor for everyday Youtube use, its freakin fantastic.

I agree....while it's not perfect (still relatively new) OpenShot is quite nice and is actively being developed.

Decided not to... Something doesn't sit right for me with this project... asking for a minimum 25k and mentioning they will need another money bomb in the near future to further the project etc.... That aint how Opensource works... They could hold the project Hostage in Future unless demands are met on Donation Minimums.... I rather see the money go towards Kdenlive and OpenShot to improve their products as they do not use Altermadems/Requirements for money to Develop. Sounds Suss

@Linux4UnMe thats fine, i have low expectations also but who knows might be good, Well if progress is good then donate more, 25k for a video editor is really not gonna do much, How opensource works, just depends but donations comes in everyday look at linux mint, other projects pretty much same process man. Hostage? not sure but i believe is under the GPL licences so all good. Kdenlive and Openshot yea donate to them also but this one is design for pros not the same traditional editors

After reading that they will develop until they need another money bomb sorta puts me off... makes it sound as if they will only work on the project based upon minimum set amounts of Dollars every few months or so otherwise they won't continue work on it until that request is met... Pro vid editor? sounds like just words... where is it?

@Linux4UnMe i even said in the video they havent created yet, not sure why u though otherwise, but hes already been working on the dmedia package which is gonna be part of the novacut project. Im assuming u been reading the anti-blog about it, so u can believe whatever u want to believe. But as of right now is simple they got 25k funding, if they show progress and u like it, u donate more, if not u stop. Is not a guarantee success if that is what u want then wait until u see some packages 1st

I am just skeptical about this project on my own merits, not other peoples opinions...that is all... You gotta pay 300+ to get access to the dev builds etc... hmmmmm....We'll just wait and see what happens I guess...

this is agpl and it makes editing very fast and easy i have play with the tech demo

the idea in the demo cut my time edit by 50%

video editors in linux do suck. Do you use mac for those type of things then?

I hope novacut will be something simular to Mac's finalcut. There we have professional video editing. SOmething that really bugs me with linux is that everything has to be open source and free. Seriously, no wonder we are so way behind mac and windows on most levels. Just saying.
