If anyone wants to use Ida's age against her and say that she is not skilled anymore- they can post a video of themselves playing the Brahms concerto and let everyone see how skilled they are.
I am sorry - but she was just shaking... at the age of 80 plus one is not skilled anymore to play Brahms Concerto like a 30 year old...
The violin is probably perfectly okay as is her bow. and sorry, if it really occurred 1 1/2 years before why did she not go to the violin maker earlier???
She tries to hide her age... but no one can. She should find an appropriate end in dignity and not play until nobody can take her for serious anymore...
Honey... you don't need to sound old... It's peoples small minds forcing an idea upon you. You sound timeless. "a freak" she is human, and people that play like robots are the true freaks.
probably a digital glitch in the audio-doubt tthe excellent director would not have selected it if it wasn't ok . On the other hand the rest of the clips discusses problems with the violin... (solved quite a bit later in Paris by the way )
The violin she has has been her sole violin since her teens. It is a Stradavarius worth millions of dollars...
For violinists and instrumentalists in general, most of them have on instrument which is their ideal match. It is sort of like a personal relationship...the violinist and the violin grow together from the beginning. The violinist learns how the violin works (what strengths/weaknesses are) and evolve.
@pyrioni Maybe because her instrument worth several million of dollars. It has been her violin for a while now, and it is now a part of her. She could never find a violin she likes as much as this one. A unique and precious violin woth 4 million $... is not a flute
Miss Ida, you are beautiful and sexy, you are not old. you have all the charms of woman suppose to have.

Fantastic playing even in her advanced years. Who gives a shit about any blemishes, her greatness still shines through.

@koklim82 It's a wolftone in the violin...cellos often have them, violins less often.

i think jascha heifetz owned both a strad and a del gesu, but he prefered the del gesu for most performances

Wow, she can still play Brahms at 76! She's an inspiration to the elderly Japs. They ought to pay her double.
