Years ago there was ammo similar to this that was marketed as " Thunder Zap " . It had an ly high muzzle velocity at close range ( if memory serves a 2" bbl .38 special yielded around 2800 fps ) they were promoted as self defense rounds, because of the fact that would only travel about 30 yards and then drop to the ground. Massive tissue damage at close range because of the velocity, but due to it's makeup would not penetrate the human body. I believe Air Marshall's carry something similar now !
Do you make ammunition for orders?? If so send me a PM, I don't have the tools to do the job, and I've always been alittle scared to try and do hand loading. I've got a strange caliber I'm looking to have made up.
My brother made something like this for his colt-45. We shot 5 of them at paper targets at the range. The range operator freaked out, thought we had a misfire. :)
@ammosmith Got a six-cavity Lee mold and have made my first .357 glue stick bullets. It works! I will probably need to practice to make consistent bullets. It will be nice to be able to practice close range shooting without having to need to drive to a range. I found I need to oil the bullet mold at least every other time molding the glue stick bullets or they begin to stick.
These things are awesome. So glad I found this. I ended up using a 357 wadcutter mold for 9mm luger bullets, but it works great. Also, if you lube the bottom of the sprue plate with lithium grease it makes them cut smoother.
Also, just wanted to re-state, seat the bullet then prime. otherwise they will shoot out of the empty case on their own. (You put it in your other vid, but not this one.)
Also, what do you think about setting this up in a rifle? How would you go about doing that?
@ammosmith sounds good but i still think u could dunk it and make the process even faster but idk never tried it so maybe it would cause other problems
I guess my question is: can I use glue stick bullets to SAFELY power down my CVA Buckhorn to take Ground Hogs at close range? Can I use 25 grains instead of the usual 100 or 150 gr. charge? I want to shoot groundhogs at 100 feet range. I am thinking these might be safer than 295 gr. powerbelt bullets that I usually shoot as I don't want it to cross the railroad tracks that are 300 feet away. If I cast the powerbelt bullet, what could I use to make the seal?
@ammosmith Thank you so much for your reply. I know very little about ballistics. What is your opinion on this. What if I were to cast a bullet out of hard wax and then drill out a center chamber that willhold 4 BB's. Seal it with wax. Now I have a wax projectile with a metalic core. Do you think it could be accurate enough and have enough penetration to kill a ground Hog? I realize experimentation carries with it risk. Would you ever try this ... or is it suicide? Have a save 4th!!!
@LandCruiserification It's harder than wax and has a higher melting point. With Crisco or white lithium grease in the grease grooves it lubricates itself going down the bore.
i rolled up a 1/2" wide peice of duct tape, at a slight angle so it was bullet shaped, stuck it in my 44 magnum with only 6 grains of unique, and shot it in my cellar at an old handheld toolbox. it went through the box, though a 1/2" plywood wall and dented a 55 gal drum behind it. i was shocked.
do you have some load data, for Hodgdon titegroup in 45acp 9mmluger and 40sw casings, using glue bullets, and what OAL seating depth do you recommend with powder.
and is it possible to crimp the bullets so you can feed them by magazine?.
True. I find that a good rubber band works good too. The six cavity mole is best. I have had people ask me to make them for sale. Still thinking about it.
Just a tip for you. You can use a small spray bottle with either isopropyl alcohol or denatured alcohol to get the glue off. It will help immensely trust me.
Great idea! I used to just push the casing into a soft brick of wax, but they would fall apart if you used even a little bit of powder, and it made a waxy mess out of the barell. Can't wait to introduce these glue bullets to my neighbors pain in the ass dog next time it pops a squat in my yard!
Yes. I am developing our 2nd DVD at the moment so I hope to have something in the next week or two. I'll show how to load them with just a primer and one with the Bullseye loading of 2.0grs.
do you need a press to seat these bullets? can it be done by hand since the material is flexible? i'd like to see how the rest of the reloading works if its different from a regular reload and also how it fires. nice vid.
will this work with any bullet or 45 acp only? and so you really have to do all that stuff with the primer pocket or can you just reprime a regular case and shoot?
Any bullet. Rifle not really. Bullet is too long and won't stabilize. I've done this with 9mm, 38, 10mm and 45 ACP. Use a magnum pistol primer. No modification is needed but it helps. Components are hard to get today so an unmodified case is preferable.

could you do this in an ar15 with its respective bullet mold of course?

@aznmeowmeow Yes but the wax melts and they aren't reusable like the glue stick.

Crim15 2 years ago
You can but if you apply too much pressure the mold can warp.

You can get around that by placing blocks on each side of the mould..
