  • @DracoArum LOL!!!

  • 1:05.. I always wondered what was up with those people eating pasta with their BARE HANDS!?

  • I Love This Song Soooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo Much! (:

  • Yes, the guy with the ice cream looks a lot like James Taylor, particulary from his "Jelly Man Kelly" clip. Go ahead, play them back-to-back and see!

  • The little girl munching the corn on the cob is plenty of adorable

  • Eating! What a ubiquitous phenomenon!

  • HOLY SHIT MY CHILDHOOD

  • They should start the Food network's broadcast every day with this

  • @DracoArum I agree, this makes me hungry.

  • I'm so glad this was posted because I for 25 years was singing to my self "everybody knows, brush your teeth and toes" lol I know that wasn't right but I for the life of me couldn't remember how the song went and that was all I could think of.

  • I don't eat carrots, peas or beets :C

  • cool

  • 0:19 That's not true. He said "Everybody knows that everyone eat meat."

  • I might be wrong but, I think he said "Everybody knows that everyone eats."

  • This must have came out in the 70's. I do not remember this version.

  • @jtomally9681

This sketch would have been made in Season 4 (1972-73) at the latest, because I remember this version when I was three and I was three in 1972.

  • I particularly remember the hippo scene...I am a sesame street kid. LOL

  • Bless Joe Raposo's soul

  • Seeing the little girl eating corn on the cob always made me think, "I'm SO glad we use corn holders."

What is that lady at 0:27 eating? A huge piece of gum?

  • @dementedfurbie maybe its a wafer or something....

  • @dementedfurbie...Looks like a long cracker of some sort!

  • All living creatures eat. Everybody eats in different places, different foods and in many different ways. In China, Japan, and Korea, they use chopsticks. In India, they eat with their hands. Every eats differently.

  • I always got hungry watching this! =/

  • I remember this song! Thank you so much for posting this!

  • @MissHeather

I remember it too! I liked it a lot as a child!

  • I was anorexic as a teenager. I used to sing this old soothing song to help me recover. =)

  • omfgggg goood times!!!

  • Man, people had weird looks back then. My favorites are the Alan Ginsberg at 0:41 and the Paul Simon at 1:23.

  • catchy tune.

  • I use to love this as a kid!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Freaking classic. I still remember this.

  • I remember when i was about five years old...my MoM had just walked me home from kindergarten and this song would be on as soon as i turned the channel to Sesame Street. I ALWAYS watched Sesame Street after school! Sometimes if I was lucky..I would get an after-school snack WHILE this song played...orgasmic...yes..even then. I'm far older now..but I almost start to cry from nostalgia when I hear it today because that was one of the happiest times of my childhood.

  • @ThePsychedelicShow Those were the days, werent they!?

  • I remember this sketch from when I was three years old. I especially remember the hippo (though I didn't know what kind of animal it was at the time) and I remember the girl's messy hands when eating corn-on-the-cob.

  • random song... that one girl at :56 looks familiar.

  • almost everyone i kno grew up on sesame street! i love this song!

  • After everybody eats, Everybody p00ps

  • Jibjub80 its a freakin kids show for heaven sakes!

  • This is where my sister got the silly "everybody knows....brush your teeth and toes" she obviously forgot the lyrics and wanted to rhyme.

  • They shouldn't be saying "everyone eats....meat and fish and cereal." Some people eat meatless diets.

  • This was back when people could cook for themselves and didn't rely on the drive thru 24/7

  • @Jibjub80

It was the 70s. We didn't need to be politically correct and inclusive then

  • Wow, sumatran orang.

  • They did "Everybody Eats" and "Everybody Sleeps." How about "Everybody pisses?"

  • The guy shoving spaghetti into his mouth always cracked me up as a kid!

  • @lurch321 hahaha, me too. That's the thing I most remember as a kid, 'thinking WTF didn't anyone teach him to eat with a fork?" hahahaha

  • Segments like this are more memorable to me than the "main" part of Sesame Street with Big Bird and so forth. Hope that makes sense. These are timeless; especially if I still remember it after 40 years!

  • yeah i knoe what you mean this and the pin ball one stick n my head

  • @bloofan06 I agree with ya! thanks for posting this lol i remember seething this in the early ninties as a kid.

  • That's wild! I didn't realize that this is the same tune and singer as the "Everybody Sleeps" one. Hmm.. the other one made me tired, and this one is making me hungry! LOL

  • Am I crazy or was there another one that was "Everybody Sleeps"?

  • you are not crazy, , click back on this video and you'll see it on the related videos list.

  • Analog TV..ahh those were the days.

  • haha!! I watched this with my 5 year old, and he ran to the fridge right away!! LOL

  • This was the song that made me want to grab a snack from the frig while watching Sesame Street as a little 4 year old!

Just the LOUD slurping sound of everybody eating was enough to make me hungry!

  • Lol I know just what you mean.

  • everybody flans!

  • All the lil kids in this are 35-45..that cute woman with the sunglasses is a senior citizen, and the animals..well..Where does time go?!? Still..everybody eats!

  • This song takes me back to the days when I was a kid. I loved being a kid. Thank for the post it make my week.

  • Dude, the guy shoveling in the spaghetti! Awesome!

  • everybody...'cept supermodels! ;)

  • i love this song!

  • That kid riding the bike and eating the banana at the same time is damn coordinated!

  • I always get hungry when I watch this video; even if I've already eaten. I loved this as a child and I still do. Great video!

  • I don't eat. Is that bad?

  • Awesome. I forgot about them adding all the silly sound effects...

  • Don't forget about the fast eating turtle. I know that they fast-forwarded it, but to me it was hilarious on how he eats at 1:41 with sound! :)

  • Aw, what a nice, happy little song. I remember Everybody Sleeps from the early 90s. I agree with NameNotaNumber - there's nothing like this nowadays; kids' TV's gone all hi-tech and....just...crap.

  • Everybody Sleeps is a little later, but still from the 70s.

  • aint it the truth... the sad thing is as amazing a short piece as this is, younger audiences have gotten so "sophisticated" (aka cynical) that they would think that THIS is cheesy.

  • my...CHIIIILLLDDDHOOOOODD!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • I had forgotten all about this segment until I saw the hippo eating, and then ,WHOOSH, it all came back to me like it was yesterday. Oh, I miss being a kid.

  • That was very rude how those two were eating the spagetti at the table with there hands. Take it away from them till they use good table manners.

  • Yeah everybody eats and later we worry about how fat we've become. LOL

  • the only thing i remember on this as a little kid was the guy throwing the spaghetti in his mouth, lol

  • The guy eating the ice cream cone, as a kid I thought that was Paul Simon

  • lol, paul simon

  • Me, I thought he looked like James Taylor.

  • I guess when I was seven years old I didn't argue or think about how quadrapolegics eat. Just enjoy the song numbnuts!!

  • im hungry now

  • Not all of use with cerebral palsy have trouble eating :)

Besides, the song even says "no matter how you do it, don't you know it's so" silly willy :). A tube is just a way to get the food to you...

As far as what it's like to do anything naturally, I've never been able to run 'normally' but I don't miss it because I have never known anything different :). You live with how you were born...

  • Taking in food from a tube is still 'eating'...everyone has to take in nutrition somehow.

  • I had my tongue removed due to cancer eight years ago. I haven't been able to a banana or anything for so long now. I cried for three days the first time I saw this video...

  • please accept my sympathies! i'm so sorry! :(

  • Dude, it's Sesame Street...give your brain a rest!

  • Come on this was from a children's show. for cryin' out loud!

  • All these years and I still remember all the words, how funny ;p

  • I've been looking for this for years. Thank you.

  • Oh god the guy with the ice cream at 1:22 scares me.

  • LOL...he reminds me of that show SCTV

  • Thanks for the upload :) this brings back memories

  • just to let everyone know, I'm not going to approve any more anal-retentive comments on this video. It was cute the first 5 or so times, but time to move on.

  • holy shit!!!!i saw james taylor...

  • Here's tip at the beginning. Don't try to ride a bicycle with another object in your hand. Second of all, I hate bananas. I normally can't stand somebody eating one, but this is a good one to watch.

  • That guy with the spaghetti at 1:06.....hah! still cracks me up

  • This little gem from my youth gave me an eating disorder. Today I have type 2 diabetes and I weigh 294 lbs. Burn in hell muppet stuffers!!!

  • I remember this!

  • I don't eat...............

  • Doesn't that guy who ate the ice cream look like Dennis Franz?

  • looks more like James Taylor from those days, when he had hair.

  • Makes me hungry

  • seriously, if you replace "SHITS" with "EATS" the song fits and is actually MORE entertaining.

  • funny... that's what I was doing here... except I say "poops"

  • There's a book out there called "everybody poops." pretty much the same thing. Just involves Feces.

  • that guy at 1 24 looks like such a dirt

  • lol

  • That kid munching corn on the cob was ADORABLE

  • Haha, not everybody eats, or loves to eat.

  • For those people who are interested this was first aired on Sesame Street on April 26 1973.

  • hey cool, its good to know those facts

  • didn't become law in 1970

  • LOL

  • i saw this today

  • i luv this episode

  • I used to be starving whenever this happened to come on TV. What torture!!

  • there was a song i'm waiting for someone to share. it's sung by "olivia" (alaina reed) and she's walking with two kids in a park (i think). the song might be called "everything living grows." does anybody else remember this song? i still hear it in my head today and haven't seen it since the 80s.

  • The sounds of people eating grosses me out!

  • Same here. Even when I was 5.

  • that's sooo wrong! lol

  • I REMEMBER THAT! ITS CATCHY!

  • This sounds so much better than my version and 98% of my posts. What a shame that my parents didn't have cable during the mid 80's!

  • How fortunate you taped all that Sesame material anyway, and were willing to share :-)

  • I don't know where you're from, but Sesame Street was on Public Television, no cable needed.

  • I know that. I recorded over 250 Sesame Street segments without cable. My point was that the quality (video and audio) are MUCH better with cable. Just listen to the sound of this video and my "Everybody sleeps" video.

  • I remember another "every body eats" skit the only addition was Madeline Kahn made a cameo in it eating something, anyone see it?

  • Remember that "Water Baby" song by Raposo(with seals and kids underwater), as well as "Trying Again" (cat climbing a wall, turtle on his back rolling back)? If anybody can add those videos, I would be grateful.

  • Wow, i forgot how gross this video was.

  • I liked the video "everybody sleeps" better. It sounds the same tune but, different words. Everybody does have to eat and sleep everyday!!!

  • this is the same tune as "everybody sleeps" that used to be on

  • I remember this video...oh my gosh.. The music and the people sounds like it was knockoff of the Mary Tyler Moore show...Just picture Mary Richards and Rhoda and Ted knight stuffing their faces like slobs LOL

  • damn.this video is definitely nostalgic for me. Not, that i am amazed by the video., its just the memory of me as a child. i can still remember our black and white tv.

  • I remember being grossed out by that guy shoving the spaghetti into his mouth with his hands.

  • Thanks for the laugh, drumheadzero!

  • I think there was another song in the early years of Sesame Street...about eating. It might have been sung by Raposo. I remember that at the end of the song, a turtle burped into the camera.

  • i used to sing this song to myself when i was eating and pretended i was in this little music video @-@

  • I remember thinking that that hippo was so freakin cool!!!!

  • everybody shits too!

  • the poor aren't people

  • so all the skinny bit**es should watch this and remember what sesame street says!

  • haha tell 'em girl!

  • omg I had this mixed up with the "everybody sleeps" song!! This song has always been in my head ever since I was little!

  • thank god someone has the ORIGINAL version

  • holy bleep i never knew "everybody sleeps" had a companion...i wonder if this one was less popular?

  • I think it was; the "Everybody Sleeps" song has been remade as a cartoon "Every *Kitty* Sleeps" this season, but the last update to the eating song is ten or twelve years old.

  • I love it! I cant belive I am seeing this for the first time in about 25 years,,,

  • At the "There are people who eat sitting," bit of this version is the man sitting on the picnic rug Jack Horner the dinosaur man who was hired to give advice on the dinosaurs of Jurassic Park?

  • That's his son, Little Jack Horner. He had a Christmas pie in the basket.

  • ...even the cannibals...

  • OMG thank you! I've seen Everybody Sleeps before, but this is just as good! I like the guy eating spaghetti too, and the old-school SS music. Who's the guy who sings the Everybody __s songs, he reminds me of Donovan.

  • Actually, I found that that's Raposo himself! Nice voice.

  • does anyone by any chance have Paddle My Way To You? I've been searching for that song for ages and I can't find it :(.

  • This is kind of like the Everybody Sleeps.

  • I like how the origanl versions of the sleeping and eating songs have sound efects.

  • That's so ironic considering SS of today feels the need to unnecessarily shove in sound effects to old sketches that didn't originally have them.

  • i remember this yayyy

  • Ah yes, remember this one as well...sooo sweet...

Hey, you don't happen to have the "Trying" song, do you? Similar sweet mellow song (same guy singing, I think) with clips of a kitten trying to climb the stairs, a turtle on its back trying to flip over, etc? "Trying, and trying again, to walk, or run, or fllly...and dont be afriad becasue you're small, and dont be afraid that you might fall, 'cause you may find that afterall, it just takes time...so keep on tryyyying..."

  • dariaE, I don't think I have it, sorry. But keep on trying.

  • LOL! I'll try...

  • I already have an mp3 of Everybody Run, but does anyone have a video clip of that? There used to be one a user named woobie posted here months ago, but it's gone now.

  • where did you get the mp3 of Everybody Run? I've been looking for that...how about Riding on the train?

  • Yes, this is the original....amazing how it all comes back to me...I was just thinking of this because I saw the new version not too long ago (I'm a nanny)..but it is wonderful to see this one. Thank you!
