"with every second that went by the temperature of the gases was dropping" Haven't found the specs on this thing, but appears to be using liquid oxidizer as shown by the boiling off of cryogenic gases, so wouldn't the issue be the temperature of the 'gases' rising, or the temperature of the adjacent components falling due proximity with the cold tank? Still a cool project though, either way. Just a blunder on the presenters part, not that kids would notice and it'll still inpsire them lol
Have just found your kind words about the BP rocket launch shots.
I'd rigged another camera at the base of the tower facing upwards, but because of the delay caused by the incoming flight (yes, it really DID happen like that!), the damned tape ran out - twenty seconds before the launch!
The (unseen!) footage from the nose-cone camera was excellent, as it shows the rocket down below, just as the 'chute is opening.

Pity they didn't put the Blue Peter presenter in the rocket just to get rid of the stupid girl.

This rocket is a tiny on compeard to the rocket robin off TOP GEAR. I didn't think that rocket was good really.

Ah, that's because we didn't have as big a budget for this one.
Still, at least the BP rocket launch and landing was sucessful, eh?
(Oh, and the Reliant Robin didn't REALLY explode..... there was nothing there to explode!)
Watch it on DVD, and move the action forward frame by frame. Clever editing - it's what we do ;-)

All in all, it was an excellent project.

Nice work guys, although it looked like Damian burst more than just a bit of pipe and Colin nearly broke his neck falling over.
I`m suprised only the rocket got damaged.
Great stuff.
