The thing that pains me about the whole Tony thing. As much of an Allison Janney fan that I am, this was leading actress in a MUSICAL. And although she took a chance and went out of her element - that shouldnt be enough to just get a nom.

Stephanie or Meg should've gotten the nomination. Megan Hilty went through an entire transformation to bring back an icon to the stage - her character work was phenominal. Stephanie invested a lot of pride in her work and it shines through in every thing.

Has anyone else noticed that Stephanie sure loves to do that little "hop" during her songs? Y'know, she bounces on her feet? I think it's adorable, and she did that when she sang "Woman" in Pirate Queen on The View. (You can see it on YouTube.)

Sutton is a Tony darling, so it was likely she would be nominated. That leaves Stockard's place, which Megan or SJB could have taken. But it was highly unlikely both of them were going to be nominated.

I think Allison didn't need one. Her performance wasn't anything new or terribly exciting (don't get me wrong, I loved her... but...) and I thought Stockard was... meh. Josefina is simply lovely... and granted I haven't seen it... but was her performance really great?

yeah i think stockard and foster should have been left out. foster plays pretty much the same character in every musical. but to me i believe they tony's decided to choose who they thought was the best from 9 to 5 to represent the show in the category and give the other nominations to other shows.
