would everyone shut the fuck up about MP resolution. resolution is pointless now days. at one point or another when you want a really big print your going to use software regardless. i barely ever see another professional take a photo directly from the camera and print it out on the plotter or whatever equipment you so choose. having more MP resolution is very nice to help with having more detailed and sharper photos. but a 3 chip can do the same. but nikon better get some 3 chips in them cams.

@FinlandApollo resolution doesn't cause the noise, it's the gain on each amplifier of each pixel and the design process. by design process CCD chips produce less noise because of coupling. CMOS can be coupled but it is not easy. then you have this LBCAST JFET in the d2h which is pretty much CMOS but with the transfer gate removed and the FD removed. im designing a 2 transistor sensor currently. i have made some improvements to the 3T design though.

Do you have any idea what your talking about? 99% of people don't even push past ISO 400 unless shooting full auto. Then there would be no point in getting this camera. Oh and, High MP's are pretty much pointless. They are just a gimmick to get you to buy their product. You never really need to go over 7MP. If I'm not shooting RAW I'm shooting Fine JPEG on Medium(About 6 MP) You just need a fast lens.

I actually do know what im talking about, and this cameras iso goes to 102,400 if you think that all a camera needs is 400 iso then take that up with Nikon not me.. And the d700s is going to be designed for shooting in a studio like the d3x, i dont make this stuff up, its what they put out.. And im not sure how many commercial photographers you know, but ive never heard of someone who doesnt put their iso above 400.. thats just stupid, if you image has movement then you bump the iso

Wow dude, I was shooting professionally with film up to 12,800. Just because you don't use fast speeds doesn't mean anyone else does. Know your equipment and you can anticipate what will happen. You don't have to shoot bad pictures first to then decide what ISO you need.

You obviously just know how to read a little paragraph on the internet. I have been able to push high quality 20"x30" Prints with a normal D40 6MP camera. You just have to know how to use photoshop and unsharpen mask. The reason the D3 is able to push such high ISO is because it's FX sensor. So what? Why spend 5k+ on a camera just for ISO then to just get a really fast lens. The camera you use doesn't matter, it's how you compose your shot. The D3 is for people that know both those things.

I agree with you. His D40 against a high mp camera will fall apart fast in an enlargement. My brother has a D40x (it takes wonderful photos) and against my 5D mark II, his images fall apart long before mine. Another advantage for high mp cameras is ability to crop your photos and still get great results.

Obviously you don't shoot commercially because Chase Jarvis uses a regular D3 for billboard prints. You don't know how billboards look like in person. They use dots of color and you don't need to have the sharpest 50MP camera for it to look right on a billboard. Yes you can use it and people do, but it's just a vanity. 99% of people who shoot commercially don't use a Hasselblad. .5% of them 1% probably actually do.

Chase Jarvis uses a D3, D3x and a Hasselblad. Depending on the subject matter, where and how it will be published etc determines which he uses. He uses the D3 for shooting sports type editorials like the last scan disk job he did. Get your facts straight. he has tons of videos on his site explaining what he uses, when and why.

As for myself I have shot for MTV and a host of others. The internet cracks me up, tons of know nothings.

It's also a digital cm rangefinder so it's super small and has a huge sensor (about the same as the D300's in a body smaller than the Leica M9. True passionate artisan photographers never want to lug around 20 lbs. of gear...

Leica is simply a marvelous camera. its actually beat nikon and the rest in quality. its sensor really delivers better quality than those normal cameras. and to that, any camera can take nice pictures, depending on the person who takes it. chase jarvis even use this iphone to take pictures. and i can be as good as other's as well. but to some extent the noise control is inferior to those SLRs and compact cam.
