  • @daanhume I'm trying to prove, that punk was before all of the bull shit you kids listen to now.

  • 1.23 - Descendents... umm fucken oath!

  • Two absolutly fantastic guest vocal spots there!

  • @DaanHume the thing here is, we are all 20-30-40 here. you are 15. which originated first you fucking child. go vent.

  • @JakeBonculio So what are you trying to prove now?

  • PMA. ALL DAY

  • Not angry enough.

  • @zammylot Because Straight Edge music is meant to be positive.

  • MATT SKIBA!!!!

  • Luv this vid. Luv this song. Luv this bnd. Luv my hair spry. Luv my makeup. I feel that the look is imprtnt if you like it, if you dont wnt to then dont but dnt make fun of the ppl who do. I love metal, punk, rock screamo, all of tht good rock 'n roll (and classical, country, jazz, Opera any music that isnt new pop new rap, techno or any of tht crap) and i have hair spryd hair and makup nd music is my life i have just added 'my look' to it it mks it more fun doing it up gts myslf pumpd i luv it!

  • H2O just. Add. Warter

  • it wasnt about your hair style but now Im working in abarber shop doing the same 50s style haircut to all the punks that came to me. lame!

  • rrancids better than u guys-__-

  • Can't believe they don't remember what it feels like to be on!

  • fuck yes!! i only relised at the end.. but is that lou koller?!? and fucking matt skiba!!! yess!!!!! so cool! oh and... at 1:08 when he shows the rancid album and its like "what happend to the music".. are they paying out on rancid?

  • i guess there are some big misunderstandings.

if i go to a show i see lots of people trying to be different than the others. they want to be special and copy the style of certain bands or artists.

being true doesn't mean, that you mustn't wear girlie-jeans, make up (even as a man) or to be/not to be straight edge. it's about not giving a shit about other opinions and doing whatever you want, wherever you want.

  • Aint that the truth!!

  • What happend? You guys fucking suck!

  • back when i was into hardcore, only a few years ago, i never tried to look or dress like a "punk". i just had my hair a little messy, wore worn out jeans, vans old skools, and usually just a normal t shirt. i had the pic from the inside of "out of step" (still do actually) on my wall, and surprisingly they dressed the exact same. and now its years later and besides a little bad brains or black flag, im not as into HC. however, it really got me through that awkward age they call middle school

  • I'm 15 years old, people call me fashion and emo, because i still listen to post-hardcore and stuff like attack attack and asking alexandria, while they used to do the same 3 months ago, but all the sudden they became wannebe hardcore, they dizz me about how i look and what I do, but the fucking point about hardcore is that you can do and look how you freaking want to, this new hardcore scene ruins everything.

  • @DaanHume dude you dont listen to hardcore lmao this music isnt hardcore and asking alexendria is terrible dude

  • @JustinReedGluck L-O-L?

  • @DaanHume Emo, asking alexandria, attack attack? 3 words i'd never thought i'd see commented on a H20 song... That comment is full of irony cause its actually the bands you mentioned, and the type of kid you are that ruined hardcore. With the gay ass fringes, stupid colored hair, skin tight jeans. All to their own, but that isn't hardcore, just scene

  • @TJTutorails Skinny jeans originated from the early punk-scene you know? and I ain't ruining anything bro.

  • @TJTutorails I do not wear skin tight jeans, I haven't got coloured hairs and I don't even know what the fuck fringes are.

  • @DaanHume google fourfa educated your self about the history of the music you claim to love.

  • i so want the passion before fashion hoodie

  • @DaanHume Oh, the irony.

  • @whoseyeless Maybe he likes that? I mean i dress like that aswell but not because i HAVE to. I think it looks cool. What he's saying is do what you like, not what everyone else is doing. But he's also saying that just cuz you like what everyone else is doing doesn't mean you shouldn't do it. That's just my two cents i guess

  • whingin old cunt

  • Who is the actor at the start of this video? I've seen him on tv before.

  • @supermegaowner Michael Rapaport

  • @ImImbicile

    okay thanks guys :)

  • @supermegaowner His name is Michael Rapaport.

  • When I was in school and I told people I loved punk rock I would always hear "but you don't even look like a punk, you don't even have a mohawk" and then they'd proceed to call me a fake and whatever. It was funny because after all that time I'm still listening to all the same bands and going to shows whereas they got rid of all their "punk" clothing and records and went onto whatever else is considered cool. I looked nerdy then and I do now. I don't have anything to prove to those cunts.

  • @99cooperp yeh they're the fakes....the 1s who feel the need to dress up to show they're part of the genre/whatever. If you know inside that you belong in with that music then that's enough....no need to compensate with clothing.

  • @99cooperp and?

  • @99cooperp sorry dude, i respect your life style but the song isnt about mohawk or converse shoes, its about FUCKIN' MUSIC! i always almost cry when i hear this song, because its about FUCKIN DEDICATION, i am a drummer and i've studied years and years, and spend thousands on drum gears, and playing for free only for THE FUCKIN PASSION!!! and now people are not giving a shit!

  • Thumbs up you looked at his lashes after he said the word "mascara"

  • Thumbs up if you looked at his lashes after saying "do

  • its a real shame , but anyhow im pretty sure people without talent will be forgotten pretty soon and not live on like somebody who actually has talent

  • I just don't get why it matters what anyone wears, and what tattoos people hae. Its music, not fashion

    .

  • Just shit on a wall whit your SXE... if you don't want to drink, smoke or what ever just don't do it. why do you have to have that fuckin label as if there are not labels enough in the world! try thinkin outside the box and let people make there own choices.

  • @poirecitypunkrocker we do let people make their own choices, unlike drunken assholes who think its funny to spike an edge's soda, blow smoke in their face or dump beer on them. we dont have a "label" we have an identity. we have something that separates us from the common herd who will throw their lives away with drug or alcohol addiction. a label would brand us as a stereotype of militants like FSU. sXe is a society with an X on our hands and a belief in our hearts that brings us together.

  • @rabidbunnies2 don't know how it goes on where you are from. but if i go to a hc show whit some straith edge bands everyone looks the same. al the kids have a cap on sideways, thight pants and a plaid shirt.(fashion before passion) and you can't order a beer whitout getting a lecture from a stupid kid whit an x on his hands. just because you enjoy drinkin doesn't mean you're an addict. it means you enjoy the things life gives you. and you said it yourself it brings you together

  • why can't it bring you to different people whit different opinions...

  • @poirecitypunkrocker because the "different opinions" poison our bodies with drug use? its not like we ban ourselves from being around other people, but our straight edge lifestyle shouldnt contradict itself by pushing us toward the choices we decide against.

  • @rabidbunnies2 you're just repeating yourself... there's nothing wrong whit drug use as long as it's not abuse. and if you only talk and communicate whit people who have the same opinions you will never learn anything you don't know already so you actually stay dumb the rest of your life..

  • @poirecitypunkrocker uhh yeah, drug use is wrong. thats why drug use is illegal. and we do communicate with others, but not BECAUSE we're straightedge. if you read my last comment right you'd know that. either stop typing while high or lern2reed. and i dunno, not killing myself like everyone else seems pretty damn smart so i dont get where you think its dumb.

  • @rabidbunnies2 just because you can't handle drugs or alcohol doesn't mean other people can't. and if you want to grow old and think when you are 70 years orso damn what have i done i spend my youth sober.. i don't care if you don't drink i'm not the one who is commenting that the other one's lifestyle is bad...

  • @poirecitypunkrocker you said "shit on a wall" with our lifestyle. and i could handle them just fine if i wanted to. im very sure i will be soooo disappointed in myself for not being a druggie when im 70 years old because not fucking my body up is something to be ashamed of, isnt it. you truely are a dipshit. go snort another rail, maybe it'll be the one that kills you. i was civil at first but you obviously have no respect for people who take care of themselves better than you do.

  • @rabidbunnies2 yes i said shit on a wall whit sxe because its the intire concept of labels i dispice. like i said i don't care if you don't drink... i just don't get it why you would want to be stamped whit a label.

  • @poirecitypunkrocker lern2spel dude, its seriously sad. and im happy with my label. you must not have a problem with labels, do you, "punkrocker" dumbass...

  • I've watched this video 10 times in one day.

  • @fozrotten FTW!

  • If you broke Edge because of other people then you probs weren't in it for the right reason anyway @CinemaForDummies.

  • I use to be SXE, got out of it, there were no passion anymore, just guys pretending to be "bad motherfuckers".

  • I'm far from Straight edge, but when I heard "Roots" on punkorama 2 many, many years ago, I feel in love with H20

  • Mike Ness wore mascara...he is THE KING of Punk Rock.

  • @CriticsConfession king of rock, i just went to a show and he even said "ROCK and ROLL has been good to be" he doesnt even recognize his punk fans in the crowd, its fucked

  • @WhatsAProd You're a fucking idiot. Never even speak Mike Ness' name again. He is the king of punk rock. Piss off, dumbass.

  • matt just looks awkward without a guitar, they should"ve had him holding one just for the sake of composure haha

  • 9 people look the same.

  • Skiba is God

  • Honestly, what happened to the passion?

  • this is so true, sick song.

  • Epic song, like the cds of Descendents and Rancid shown in the video :D

  • Comment removed

  • youre worse than deathcore

  • @CrazyEddi3 this is hardcore... GTFO

  • @CrazyEddi3 who the fuck are you?

    fucking nerd

  • This tune Rocks and its so true, what happened to the passion of song writing, its all about what you wear, and how u look....

  • wear dress or a tu-tu to one of these guys show you will get your ass kicked black shirt black jeans tats no one will mess you maybe a old punk shirt black pants a wallet chain you will look like you fit in!bald' mowhawk' spiked hair is pushing it for some people i just like good music it all comes up from the bottom and rises !

  • A question i often asked myself: What happened to the passion ? :(

  • Michael Rapaport FTW

  • Matt Skiba has the perfect part in this.

  • I think they don't really care about the clothe or style, it's the music that matters.

  • Damm i love this song!!!

people dont even respect my pompadour these days!

  • Sexist shit.

  • Why are they all getting haircuts pretending to be mad about appearances?

  • @Sam5cott

Because its about keeping the hardcore passion about getting haircuts.

I think this song is funny since H20 now all live in hollywood.

Fuck I saw them once and the guitarist was wearing girl jeans

    yeh not to fashionable

  • @Sam5cott

Because its about keeping the passion alive by getting a nice haircut

  • """"" But now the biggest part is all about the image and not the art --

    Fashion before passion! """"""

  • @WeOwnYouNigger whatever floats your boat. But hardcore is music, not ignorance. And racism doesn't play out in music.

  • @Nizzemanden its not meant sexist. but hardcore has and will always be about being a real man too. a real man who stands for his friends his family and girlfriends and to provide for them. and to be able to stand a fight and to prove your ground. dont think and those make-up scene kids have even one of that attitude. thats what makes one of the wonderful differences of hardcore to all these britney spears kids, who care about nothing but the next spring break.

  • it makes me mad too!

    H2O rocks! NYHC!

  • Matt Skiba.

  • Ooou shit, SICK!

  • Shit, when I read some of the reactions, the song has proven its point. Hardcore is just about doing and wearing what you want! Its about not giving a shit what everyone else thinks and its made for eveyone who has the same anger about the mainstream boys and girls who dont have an opinion of their own because they're brainwashed by the media! Really guys, just let everybody do his own thing :)

  • WORD!

  • If hardcore is about the right to choose then I choose to be proud to be white and hate niggers you guys gonna talk shit and say I can't be involved in the hardcore scene now?

  • Comment removed

  • @WeOwnYouNigger yeah. fuck you, you racist scum.

  • man, hardcore ist ein breites spektrum. es gibt viele gute bands die in dieses fallen, also zerreißt euch die mäuler im realen leben und nicht hier!

    übersetzt das bei google!

    NYHC <3<3<3

  • this remembers me to a trapped under ice gig i went to a couple of weeks ago

i was the only guy with long hair and more dressed like the 80's thrash type

the singer pointed at me and yelled you live the true spirit just dont give a fuck about what you wear instead of most of these guys dressed up all in hoodys 3/4pants and sneakers wearing baseballcaps

  • @darkmysterii Was this before or after the gig were he broke someones jaw just because he got jumped on like vocalist have for decades?

  • @AntonyArmada come again?

  • @AntonyArmada

The band you mean is Trapped Under Ice.

    H2O > TUI

  • i hate this so much, h20 went to my friends high school LAB in NYC to talk about clean living and straight edge. SMFH if i would of met h20 i would of gone crazy!!

  • i met him todayyyy'

  • OMG ! Ilove this song <3 & i met him today i stayed talking to him and his manager for like an hour and a half after school & i got to hug him :') .

  • i know its not about fashion but i want that GB shirt

  • cm punk

  • just letting you know you are all idiots and arguing about irrelevant shit.

  • true hardcore band ever !

  • great song great HC video thumbs up !!!

  • i ask the same thing... what Happened? maybe just money?

  • Hardcore comes from the heart. Who cares what u wear, how u look. H2OGO!

  • Everyones bitching over these 'sub genres' but it's all punk rock to me. Who gives a fuck about how people look? We're all here for the same thing, fuckin sic music.

  • @andrewdknight

billy joel had a song with a similar concept lol still rock n roll to me was the name i think haha

  • everybody looks the same cuz the "hard guys" dress the same brands and everything. Hardcore is ours now. we, the kids, know how to do hardcore too.

  • its just you tube and its just a music video. just saying.

  • I remember them playing this song as the last one of their gig in Paris summer 2010.. how fucking good that was, and nobody did care about if others were wearing prada shoes or pennywise t-shirts.

  • Has anybody of you the preface from Michael Rapaport in written form to this song ?

  • They are not being contradictory. They are saying that the message of music these days has taken a back seat to a bands image and their public appearence. That being cool is more important than making passionate music. They are talking about trend bands. Listen to the lyrics, and pay attention to the music. If you don't understand that, then you are probably one of those kids they are talking about.

  • @Lochamp1 not too mention the fact that these bands (SOIA and H20) actually have a reason to be angry other than I look different and I was picked on so now I'm angry about it. The new "punk/hardcore" have the lyrical equivalent to a prepubescent child with no integrity and no clue as to what is going on in the world...it's not about the image or looking cool its a mentality of picking yourself up when the world knocks you down and looking out for all of your brothers and sisters...Worldwide HC

  • the real problem with this video is the fat chick trying to crowd surf at 1:53 no bueno

  • It's not about what you look like but for what's inside

  • If you're complaining about them being contradictory, then you're paying attention to what they're wearing and how they look. You're one of the people who cares about what you wear to a show.

  • @AFallToBreak

Well id rather turn up looking atractive then a filthy mess.

think about it what if every girl turned up like a mess how would yo ul ike it?

  • Comment removed

  • ummm........ matt skiba is fucking GOD! lol

  • @albalest55 your right is doesnt matter what you wear, so why does it matter that people are emo or whatever ? if the kids nowadays want to cling to there tight jeans and whatever let them. Sub cultures move along and this just happens to be the whole thing thats happening in "heavy" music nowadays. Maybe its different in america, where im from in the uk, hc shows here have alot of people dressing in a certain "fashion" but aslong as they are there for the music, i dont give a shit how they look

  • @prayforaslowdance it matters cause i have to look those faggy ass emo kids....im not gunna hate em for being fags, but i sure as fuck am not gunna like em

  • @ryanofdeath

calling somebody a fag... really... grow up

  • @Neithan02 they look like fags, they act like fags, they talk like fags....what do you want from me?

  • its not a contradiction you faggot there saying what happened why is everyone fuckin gay little eye liner skinny wearing faggots these days.

  • Most people commenting this video don't exactly understand the message.

  • @albalest55

    you say it !!!

  • Why does everybody look the same? 'cuz big bands enforce it, lil' kids watch and copy, the companies sell, and everybody is happy. Check your wardrobe and your tattoos.. and you'll see.

  • @willyhc666 But we're not happy.

  • michael rapaport, so fucking cool!

  • wath the fuck is THE H2O PROJECT i cant find H2O FUUUUUUUUUUCK

  • lol this band is contradictory. The band all wear the same clothes and to a certain dress sense of that kind of music.

  • @EpicW1n so true and they have a music video. the great songs dont

  • @EpicW1n chances are those dudes been dressing like that since you were in diapers,so are they really there for fashion?

  • i love this band

but i think its a bit of a contidiction

that they say it doesnt matter what you wear to a show,

then say real mean dont wear drain pipe jeans....

  • @prayforaslowdance yeah that the point kids nowadays all cling on to a certain fashion they feel liek their part off but in the end it doesnt matter what you wear

  • Why is Matt Skiba so fucking cool?

  • I don't enjoy rap + rock but I agree most music today sucks

  • @experssion123 their nto even rapping and its niot jsut rock its melodic hardcore/youthcrew

  • pity theyre only playing soundwave and not their own headline,,,, would LOVE to see them!

  • you speak the truth

  • "I got three words for you: H, 2, 0....GO"

Actually mate, it's one word, two letters and one number....But I appreciate what he's saying

  • @TheHasselBoff Hehe you're right, but it's the idea he ;)

  • @TheHasselBoff -facepalms- H two oh... GO! three words >.>

  • Wearin brands cuz you think it makes you cool - Fail

Wearin brands cuz you know their stuff fits you - Alright.

  • all true, sadly

  • Singing 'bout "fuck dresscode" and wear pitchfork clothing.. how fucking dresscode is this?

Don't get me wrong, i like the song and the lyriks are true. And i don't want to call the band posers or something like that but this somehow disturbs me.

And btw: fuck i want to have the oldschool/youth crew ep's in this video!

  • @Pacman1991

    what should he wear?

A pullover his grandma made for him?

The thing about dresscodes is, that people just belong when they wear the same things the other scenesters wear.

I guess he wears this shirt because pitchfork supports nyhc and black and blue and NOT because he has to show that he belongs.

  • das frage ich mich auch schon seit Jahren - H2O go

  • Is it bad that this video makes me want that gorilla biscuits t-shirt?

  • awesome Matt Skiba part

  • I'm only 15 but I can relate to this. I'm sure at first glance someone wouldn't call me "punk" or "emo," and I'm not. But, I listen to the Ramones...I listen to modern bands too but I don't give a shit about their image. I like punk, alternative, post-hardcore and some pop, but hell I'm not emo and I can't stand All Time Low and Forever The Sickest Kids or that new "crunk-core" shit. I just wish there were more good bands on Warped Tour now...

  • such a true song.. sadly

  • but the singing guy wears drain pipe jeans ;D

  • 1:05 mother fucker!!!! Have Heart - The Things We Carry, I've been searching EVERYWHERE on the internet to find that in vinyl! what the fuck =(

  • @STEOfficial just go to the bridge nine webstore...

  • @beyondthemasses yeaa I literally JUST ordered that record a few days ago, so glad it got re-stocked

  • "im more hardcore than you because I mosh harder" HAHAHAHHAHHAHAHAHA

  • grandes!!!

  • @ALVAROHCOI Totalmente de acuerdo!

  • I thought the whole point was ABOUT being different and then you have people who criticise for not falling in line.

  • FUCK YEAH !

  • RIP joe strummer

perfect proof about the meaning behind this song.

go watch a clip from "the clash" and look what their wearing...

fuck all this scene shit. im over it

sure im only 18 but i grew up with my mum raising me with bands like the ramones too rancid!

teenagers need too get their heads on straight

  • I've seen them yesterday on serengeti-festival, with mitts from madball on bass.. played just about 30 minutes, but the best act this day, they make their music with fucking passion

  • I think every scene has it dresscode.

And I think it´s ok that the corescene looks actually all the same.

    It doesn´t kill the music.

    Anyway, good song.

  • Yeah what happened?? I fucking despise all this new shit they call hardcore!
