Lag in brawl is caused by either your internet connection or the connection of the people you are against. Me and my friends all have 3m/s connection so all our games are as lag free as fighting in the same room.
If you just go into matchmaking there will be problems if even one person has horrible connection.
Keep in mind that Brawl is an incredibly complex game graphically. There are tons and tons and TONS of particle effects playing across the screen at all times, so nothing less than a very good connection will do.
I'd have to agree, the single player is very weak, but this is a multiplayer game meant to be played with buddies on your couch. I can't think of a game since Golden Eye for the N64 that was better for offline multiplayer.
I think the reason for that is Brawl is unique, gameplaywise... halo isnt. 9.5 is still a good review. then again i think halo also deserves a 10 because of xbox live
I think this is the best wii game to this day, Im not a big fan of fighting games but I absolutely love this game, the only thing I dont like about it is that some stages are too complicated, too much stuff happens in the background and its hard to focus on the fight it does make it more challenging but may also be annoying

I give this game a 9.5/10 for one reason. The multiplayer mode is the stupidest ever. If you dont have any friend or if you dont know how to find many ssbb friends on the net, multiplayer is shit. All you do if you host a random match is ffa with 2 minutes only. How fun is that? So for me, they failed on the multiplayer party.

yea generally good review. I have to disagreee with the review's comment, "the controls are tighter". For me, playing with a plugged in GC controller, my character responds with a tiny but noticable lag. Most ppl get used to it, but having played melee for almost forever, this lag is very hard to get used to. Oh, and online is friggin laggy.

Anyone know anything about bugs in the PAL version? I can't unlock some challenges. I've done what it's asked to do but they won't unlock. Some of those challenges are "Endure a 15 minute brawl" and "clear classic with all characters". And yes, i cleared it with both zelda, sheik, Samus, ZS Samus and even squirtle, ivysar and charizard.
your a dumbass, this game has so much in it, it's takes longer to get boring than any other game. The only bad thing is the multyplayer which needs some improvement, mainly cause the wii has crappy online. But playing friends and having tournments is just awesome, mastering characters 1 by 1...I've owned this game for over half a year and I still play when my friends come over. 10/10 was a good rating, but remember this is 10/10 for the game, the wii's crappy online isn't the game's fault

I luv the super smash bros series, ive played evry single 1, but i must admit this 1 i did get bored with alot quicker than the previous ones i'd give it 8.5/10 tbh

The game isnt slow, u just make it so, u can just jump on them and not wait for them to come or u can be some idiot waiting on the side for every1 to come to u, anyway this game rocks i have it for 6 months and i never get old. if any1 wanna add me to the wifi and play msg me =]

Best fighting game out. i takes the most skill,other fighting games such as soul caliber u can pik up and play and sumtimes win, but in Brawl itz so face paced and Crazy u gottta practice

Are you joking? Super Smash Bros has never been about skill and i have seen people master the game in minutes!
Soul Calibre are also very accessible and people can win just from button bashing but its not as bad as it is in SSBB!

u obviosuly havent played BRawl or any smash bros game competively, it dosent takes minutes to mater it takes weeks to fully master it....u would get smashed it BRAWL...

Maybe my comment was exagerated - but a first timer on SSBB will get along alot better than a first timer in Street Fighter where button bashing will get you nowhere!
All i meant was that SSBB is no way near being the most technical fighting gameas the comment i replied to seemed to imply.

well im saying that an idiot button masher coudnt stand against skilled players at all.
especially in Brawl, its more than Mashing, its about timming, dodging, puling off combos, and using using ur moves intelligently.
and if ur playing with items its about how-u use each one to your atvantage
Its has more depth than most fighting games.

Its no way near as technical as street fighter! Tekken is a button masher but its still a great 3d fighting game.
Anyone who picks up the controller can pull off any move - the item distribution is basically luck.
I guess we have to agree to disagree on this one. I have always found SSB as a party fighting game which is very accessable. No skill required.
Street Fighter is all about skill - if you button bash your not gonna pull off anything!

it doesnt matter if street fighter 4 is more difficult to master than SSBB. I'd rather be stuck playing SSBB for a month than be playing SF4 for a month. SSBB is just more fun.

IMO, this game doesn't deserve a 10/10.
Maybe an 8/10, or even a 7/10.
It's still a good game, but definitely not as good as Gears of War 2, GTA4, etc.

Anyone know anything about bugs in the PAL version? I can't unlock some challenges. I've done what it's asked to do but they won't unlock. Some of those challenges are "Endure a 15 minute brawl" and "clear classic with all characters". And yes, i cleared it with both zelda, sheik, Samus, ZS Samus and even squirtle, ivysar and charizard.

your a dumbass, this game has so much in it, it's takes longer to get boring than any other game. The only bad thing is the multyplayer which needs some improvement, mainly cause the wii has crappy online. But playing friends and having tournments is just awesome, mastering characters 1 by 1...I've owned this game for over half a year and I still play when my friends come over. 10/10 was a good rating, but remember this is 10/10 for the game, the wii's crappy online isn't the game's fault

Eh, rating systems are broken. I would prefer is someone told me if the game is worth buying or not, instead a stupid point system (like "10 out of 10" and shit).
Brawl is definitely a good game. It has some problems though, but it's good enough to buy new or used.

i have ssbb and personally, i think it's not very good compared to mario kart wii.
It's a very competitive game, but wi-fi sucks unless you know friends that have it and go on it regularly, and it hasn't changed too much in gameplay
