my shar pei was blind and she was fukin smart i can garentie u when johova witness came to my pad they back the fuck up kuz she would run to the gate kuz it was loud as fuck
Hard to train??? I think someones trying to take more credit for training skills than what is deserved. lol My boy was darn near born potty trained and remembers well when hes corrected for something, IF we have to correct him. He is by far the easiest, most pleasant breed we've owned. And we've had a LOT of dogs. The ONLY problem we have with Baker is fighting the urge to get more Bakers..lol
They may be fighting and defensive dogs but they are the biggest babies ever. Our shar-pei/lab mix is the biggest pushover we've ever had but also the most trainable and intelligent.
@nblax41 They are truely are loyal and loves there familly. Wally( my pei) follows me every where! when experts call them fighting dogs, it relates more to the standard bread. The miniature and toy are the opposit. they truely are great dogs!
My grandpa had a shar pei and when buster passed away he was always a little sad but then we got Darcie who we gave the same last name as our grandpa and even though Darcies our dog she always puts a smile on his face and for a few seconds the world seems safe
A friend of mine always insist that Shar-Pei's are aggresive breed. I told her my shar-pei is only protective of me and my home that's why he's always attentive whenever there's strangers in the house which is whata dog should be. Thank for this Video, It actually explains abit about the so called"aggressiveness" in them. I love Shar-pei's.
I got a blue sharpei tooo!!!! Heard there's only 200 in the world....I was like wow...out of the 75000 sharpei's , only 200 are blue... Sadly the preveous owner did like a surgerie that she cant reproduce...(and it would be hard to find another sharpei here in Canada, for a pure bred) i was like WHY!! WE NEED MORE BLUE SHARPEI!! I think she's the last line in her family though...(The previous owner said of a family tree or sumthing with the dog...dont understand 100% wat that means...) :[
My Shar-Pei was very loyal(1 person),sweet & loving(to me),but very aloof, did not get along w/other dogs. She was very aggressive and would fight any other dog no matter the size. A good gaurd dog, but I am surprised i was never sued. Maybe i was not good at training her. I want another one but I am afraid that I will get another animal killer.
not all shar pei get diseases, mine's a 2 year old horse coat, she looks almost like a traditional and iv never had a problem with her yet, if any1 is thinking of buying a shar pei you should go for the less wrinkly type if u don't want all the problems and vet bills, they are much healthier
Americans are such selfcentered idiots. I think buddhist would feel upset when they see this video. How would christians feel wen i name my dog "Jesus"?
@raklert I'm a Christian. You can name all your dogs Jesus if you want to. Doesn't upset me any at all. Just hope you are smart enough to know your dog is not the Messiah, or expect anyone to bow and worship your dog...8)
Thanks for posting this. Buddha was my boy...He was very special. we filmed this many years ago, and I lost him in 2004. This is a great memory....marilyn
Depends on what kind you want if you want one that is AKC certified they are lot more I have one that isn't certified..Mine is a Bald Chinese Shar Pei We paid 750 for ours, her father was Blue and Mother was cream, she turned out to be Orange with blue furs and she is a beauty...We name her Espresso..she is perfect combo..there are also the Cauliflower Shar Peis, they take allot of care...
a jus got a sharpie x pit bull pure black blue noise and and a big bull dot on his tounge that seems to be exsanding with all the sharpie facial features except a little less saggier skin he is 2mounths old and already growing at strangers awsome
i have 2 black shar-peis, one is easy to train but our girl is very lazy and difficult to train, both are really good with humans and animals but both guard the house with lots of barking!!
I have a bear coat shar pei, and he is the best. He is extremly smart, lovelable and picks up tricks easily. When I bought him I was warned about the breeds agressiona nd need to socialize him, but Ive had no such problem. He is sooo friendly and loveable. He begs people on the street for attention and loves being around people.
We got our Sharpei (Torpedo, turning 1 year old 4/22/2009!) from our local SPCA, oddly enough. He's definetely protective of his turf, he spends his time watching outside, guarding us from squirrels and little kids. He was very easy to house train. He's stubborn and spoiled, but I don't think we'd have it any other way. :)
my shar pei learned tricks like second nature and in 2 languages cuz we speak 2 languages in the house (korean and english). Extremely intelligent and loyal. they will die for you if they had to. and the horse coated ones are the best I broke out in hives any time my fore arms came into contact with her but it was worth it they are too squishy not to squeeze
I own four Chinese Sharpei dogs. Extremely loyal and intelligent. I wanted to keep them pure and original. I choose to breed the horse coat, as they were bred in it's original country of origin. "Sand skin," refers to the texture of its short, rough coat, why change it to adapt to our wants, let's keep it original.
my shar pei isnt like that at all.. very stuborn. if his gonna do a trick he must first analyse what the snack is, and maybe then have the strenght to do it.
Got my first one yrs ago. Trained her in a few hours to sit, stay, lie down, come and heal. I guess they are all different because now I have more, and they all trained very easily. They are very smart dogs. Not to mention the most lovable, protective dogs you'll ever want or need to have in your life. And yes on the tail. It isn't sitting right. They usually curl up. He is adorable though. Love the big meaty mouths...Wish I knew how to make a video with music. I'll have to figure that out!
it depdned how early u train them but there are dogs that are worse to hanndl boxers are by far the most stubburn dogs but all dogs doo need some sort of breaking in order to get them to beahve how u want.
They are. Very smart dogs, learn quickly. Of course like any dog a mistreated puppy is hard to train...but if you are good to them they will respect you and be eager to please. Sometimes, they are too smart for their own good and think maybe they know better when you want to teach them something =P
I have to agree w/Amanda. I only have one Shar pei, he was four months old when I brought him home. He was VERY easy to house train, and doesn't run off, chew furniture, or any of the problems I had with training my other dog. He is very protective, but not aggressive.
I have to agree with Witton. I have a 4 month old Shar-pei and he is the smartest dog by far that ive ever owned. He Trains very easily. He learned all his tricks in less than an hour and remembers everything... He's a great dog!
Yes you should just google Shar-pei breaders in canada. And they only give two bones for personality. well my Shar-pei, Suki, should have twenty for personality. she's such a loving caring dog. Shar-pei's rule
I have to disagree when this lady says that Shar Peis are a difficult breed to train. We have an 11 month old female called Daisy and I have never come across a more trainable dog. She just loves to please aand she is truly beautiful and very very loved :-)
I used to love my sharpei and they are not stupid but I will have to admit our american akita is more intelligent.
