i never really thought there was much wrong with her jumps in the first place (well except 3lz and 3a) but she has now fixed her 3a. it would be more wise if she just took the season off to fix the technique on her jumps but perhaps shes competing just to keep up her stamina? :) who knows...
She's good when she was young. She needs more speed on ice. You can do it Mao, You can set a new record again, all triple jump in a program. You're a fighter, some other skaters will just do the same jumps even if it's executed wrong. You're so brave to go back to basics and fix your jumps plus learning all the triple jumps. GO GO GO Mao!!!
If you think that simply landing the jumps in practice is going to get her results, you're wrong. No offense, but I think she knows what she needs more than you do, which is why I find your 'ignorant' comment hilarious. ;) In the end, as I've said, these experiences also give advantage in experience. She knows what it's like to be in a really bad slump, but she also knows what it takes to be #1.
@pinto89100 You know what's so funny about this....you said "I think she knows what she needs more than you do"....and yet every comment you made you speak for her...LOL are you her coach, best friend, or her parent? Jesus man, you can't handle other people's opinions....too sad, too bad...get over it!
@MisterBokeh stop laughing at yourself, and stop asking who Pinto89100 is! he is your mother, your father, your grandfarther/grandmother, and your great great....grandfather/mother, happy? and he is telling you to get over it and gag all that Kim chi to the trash!
@MisterBokeh LOL.... Be a good boy and shut up. I did what you should have done before making your generalizations. I looked up interviews of Mao literally saying she is using this as extended training. Everything I've told you are things Mao has said in one interview or another. If you looked for them, you'd find them. Thus before you continue rambling on thinking your funny, I suggest that's what you do.
Well, she had enough time to fix her messed up jumps, But she couldn't. Worse yet. She is not capable of fixing her wrong jumps now that she got older and fatter.
Miki Ando spent half of her season three years ago and she could manage to fix her wrong 3lutz. Why not Mao? Maybe she doesn't have enough talent.
maybe for now, mao asada should try a double axel and not triple axel.. maybe she can get more score,, since she is keep falling and not getting full rotation. and maybe for flip, she can change to other jumps for now.. i hope she can practice harder on her jumps for now,
@sumimimi0 She can't get MORE scores by throwing away her 3A and going with the 2A. That's suicide! Her only strong jump arsenal is the 3A. She can't do the 3Lz correctly and 3Lz is second hardest jump next to the 3A. If Mao doesn't have her 3A then it's pretty much, kiss your skating career goodbye!
@sumimimi0 maybe its easy for her to change them, but she wont do that for sure. coz she has succeeded them in practices, and she and her coach think she needs to succeed those jumps in actual competitions as well otherwise she cant get back on a track. her jumps are very different now, she takes off much faster on flip and axel. mao spoke to a media that she has a feeling that her jumps are coming back;) i hope shes right
@zzm47891 I notice that too, her flip is much better now, just like how she did it in 2006-7. Much quicker on the take off. She is always improving, thats one of the many qualities i love about her.
@collegeguy15 and from her practice vids, axel has improved a lot too. her axel now has less prelotation which may give her more distance and flow at landings. still she in competition looks worried about her jumps herself, but some medias reported she fell jumps only a few times in the practice on the day of FS over more than 50 times of her attempts within 1.5 hours. sounds very exciting.
50.10 for this messed up performance??? Well, Mao has been ALWAYS too much overrated. She should have got around 45 points and finished 9th or 10th instead of 7th.
@sumimimi0 If she retired, I would be pitying you. You will have no one to watch and commenting on. Obviously you spend all your time hating and jealous over Mao's skating
you have to remember that she's fixing ALL her jumps. she's starting from scratch and that's not an easy thing to do especially if you're a veteran skater like mao who's been doing the jumps the same way for her whole career. of course it's not gonna be fixed in an instant but it's a work in process and she still has time till Sochi which like someone else said below, is 4 years away! artistically she's still the great mao we love, but yes the jumps aren't fantastic but she will come through!
@showhey Well it is ironic that a current world champion had to fix ALL her jumps. I'm sure by Sochi there will be lots of other brillant skaters so I wouldn't count on her so much.
@showhey the process can take 2 years... and by then,, mao would be quite old for figure skating career. besides,,, i don't know if mao can handle the pressure of maximum of 2 years with no medals.. however, if she can handle that,, i think she would be much better than before.. but i don't see a difference in her jumps for now.
@showhey Well, that is why I don't feel sorry for her. For many years now Mao has known that most of her jump techniques are flawed and never did anything about it to correct it til now.....and it's beyond any logic to know how she ended up this far with two world championship titles, an Olympic silver medal, and everything in between....bad days are finally catching up with her.
@MisterBokeh Huh? This isn't Mao's first attempt in fixing her technique. She started with TAT on the lutz and at one point she had the flutz fixed (look it up on YT if u want, the practice clip is still around) Mao just lost all that work and a lot of the qualities her jumps had during her prime (flow and height) when she decided to put so much emphasis on the 3A last season. (cont)
@pinto89100 i think the reason why she felt uncomfortable on her jumps was becoz she needed to practice by herself without having her former coach TAT at the skate link. 3A became such a hard jump for her in the last season during the time as well. she got it back by getting advices from a japanese coach. but that was just a "first aid" so she decided to get all jumps back in this season like ones she used to have;)
@zzm47891 Yes but putting so much emphasis on the 3A also led her other jumps to suffer tremendously imo. If you remember in her prime (jumping wise) she had great flow coming out her jumps(jumps that had better height as well). As she got older she lost all that. IMO even her basic skating started to suffer. That 'dragging her feet' during crossovers were at their worst last year, but if you notice in practice clips, they have improved and she looks much faster. She looked faster in her LP too.
@pinto89100 i believe she changed her jumping techniques by herself with her support team, not with coach, in order to avoid UR judgement. then she started leaning down so much before flip, and jumping up 2nd loops slower. btw i never care about her crossover. she is one of very few skaters who dont crossover many times. she only crossover 1-2 times at a time, then speed up by steps. i thought her basic skating technique was improved by TAT, but guess not in your opinion?
@zzm47891 It could be...but as for the crossovers, I'm going to have to say I don't agree. Even though Mao has always had beautiful edges, because she had this habit of dragging her skates during crossovers it really slowed her down. She's much faster now that her crossovers have improved and she's using deeper edges to help her glide across the ice. It wasn't as notable here but definitely during the free skate.
@pinto89100 yea now she is much faster, not quit sure about cross over (since i havent intentionally looked at it until you pointed out), but i agree with that. her edging techniques are very improved. we can easily notice it from her one-foot-step sequence in comparison of her skating in NHK and TEB. wonderful technique.
@zzm47891 I agree. I simply fell in love with Mao's step sequence in the long especially. Not only because of the edge work but because of how free she looked. We finally got a smile outta her and it seemed genuine. ;)
@OliviaDoDance amazinlgy???? do you have eyes? All she did is spinning. She need to have facial expression, emotion while she does it. Not just spinning, and spinning like that.
@ynkisno1 uh.... i think her bad jumping skills appeared to be a trouble in the last season, i mean the olympic season. true right?. she never had troubles with her bad jumping skills only last season so she decided to change the jumps maybe. mao has been surviving until now with the triple axel but her success rate is dropping.. and her jumps are receiving a very low goe.. anyways she should have been thought by a better coach. too bad she was thought under yamada coach. the 1st coach of mao
@sumimimi0 and dont try to act like you are a figure skating fan,, a lot of people already know you writing bad about her. and its obvious you learned figure skating very recently and most of info you have is something you found in online articles. im telling you this coz i think you are much smarter than 100808jojggassi
@zzm47891 uh i am not a mao hater and i am a figure skating fan and a person who knows a lot about figure skating. anyways, not much people even know if i wrote bad about mao. i like all figure skaters and hate to see the mao and yuna fight. you obvious don't know that i like mao and i am heartbroken to see her like this. please do not comment if you don't know anything. and online articles, of course, i say but that is a fact.
@sumimimi0 ok and you want her retires becoz you like her so much then? if you really like her, why dont you cheer up? or just being quiet? your comments are so negative while obviously mao is getting better. some practice videos and the FS in TEB prove that. what you say doesnt make sence in the way.
@zzm47891 saying that does not make me hate mao, i thought it would be better if she retired as i thought she does not enjoy to skate. why does that make me hate mao?. i have never posted any bad comments like what mao or yuna haters say, if you say i hate mao, i don't know how would you cope with people saying mao is a cheat jumper and a japanese cinderella .besides i like watching mao's video. this video, i have been wathching them for dozens of times.
@sumimimi0 well, it doesnt matter if you like mao or other way around. i just dont think mao fans would like to see your comments since its very negative. she probably doesnt enjoy skating but its becoz she cant show her best right now. it is sad for me to see her struggling so much again after her very successful history and finally getting back her 3A last season. but she always comes back, and thats why i love her so much. i dont care people say her jumps are cheating or so, coz its not.
@zzm47891 well, my comments could be negative and if it did sorry, but that is my thought and i have been always cheering mao in other videos. and i am very angry about what you commented on me.
@ynkisno1 would you think it was beautiful if she moved like a robot, but she had facial expressions? of course not. her body laguage is fantastic, and she is far more graceful and flexible than yu-na. get your ugly butt out of here and let others enjoy her skating without your nagging.
@maoasadarocks You know what? Never in the history of figure skating that the reigning world champion is trying to fix her jump. I just wonder how much money does the japan federation gave to ISU so mao can stole that gold medal from Yuna.
you know what? never in history that a women could do a triple axel in the short program, or 2 triple axels in an ISU event, or 3 triple axels at the olympic. Not until the great Mao comes along. Don't hate
@ynkisno1 of coz not. coz the rule was changed only a few years ago. no one needed to fix jumps. you know a lot of female skaters are getting "e" but still jumping flutz and lip? and so you even know how spins are judged and scored? if you wanna see facial expression that much, go to broadway show.
@ynkisno1 can't you just go somewhere else if you hate mao so much, and let us others enjoy her skating? without you nagging about how bad she is? watch yu-na instead then! no one asked for your opinion.
@maoasadarocks Absolutely...she deserves nothing but respect for doing this. Mao doesn't HAVE to do this with all of her jumps. Her biggest issue has always been the lutz. She can still win with her old technique on the flip for example, but she always strives for more in her skating. In time she'll get it; she's a fighter. One thing she's got that very, very few skaters have got right now is some real experience. She's seen the lowest of lows and highest of highs. She'll persevere. ;)
@pinto89100 She deserves nothing but respect for doing this? SHE WASN'T FORCED to do this. She chose to compete because Mao is that stubborn and addicted to competing. She should have taken herself out of the GP events and worked on herself and her jumps. I would actually respect her MORE for doing that then being a ignorant on her part to compete when she's obviously not ready! Her NHK and TEB was all her doing and it's only making herself look bad.
@MisterBokeh EXACTLY. She wasn't forced to do this. All she really needed to do was get the lutz back to the way it was when she fixed it with TAT and gotten her salchow back into her repertoire. But she wants to do more than that. She wants to fix the pause into the mohawk turn in her flip (which if you've her practice clips she's already done); she wants to do more than is expected of her. Mao's making all these drastic changes when she doesn't have to and she doesn't deserve respect?
@pinto8910 im so happy she fixed the pause into her flip, and she did that in the long program. She also landed the salchow the past three attemps,...go Mao!!!!
@collegeguy15 Yup. ^_^ And I saw her land such a beautiful one in practice. It had that flow that I haven't seen from her in a long time. She didn't have much luck with the flip here (she got kind of tense and mixed in her old technique with her new), but like you said, she landed one in the LP and it was much closer to the one she did during the practice sessions. She just needs to have confidence in her new technique. In time she'll get it.
@MisterBokeh Also chill out. If u'd bothered doing any research u'll have found some interviews by now. Try that before generalizing that this is some 'obsession' she has with competitions and she's ruining her reputation blindly. Mao has clearly emphasized that she is using this as a sort of extended training; she has stated that she wants to use these experiences to grow as a skater. Landing these jumps with her new technique during PRACTICE is not the same as in an actual COMPETITION.
@pinto89100 You chill out Mao lover! Talking about being defensive! In my opinion, good experience or not by competing in GP events, for the next few years Mao's got a lot of work cut out for her. Secondly, while she's doing her "extended training" as you say, Miki, Akiko & even Kanako will eventually overshadow Mao while she's in this slump. Kanako especially! Judges already seem to fancy Kanako and she doesn't have a 3A. That says a lot!
@MisterBokeh So speaks the guy who curses people out over pointing out Yu- Na's lip.
U know, after seeing how defensive you get over certain skaters, and the way u generalized over Mao like you despise her; I should've known u couldn't be reasoned with.
I'm not going to respond to ur first question as it seems appalling that you either rushed through what I wrote or simply didn't get it. I think you need time, or you just need to learn how to read. This should help! watch?v=wtJDy3WuUQM
@npka4 She says she want to break Queen Yuna Olympic record, but look at her performance lol. What a shame. She should give up now. The only person who can beat Yuna record is Yuna herself. Yuna will break her own record at the up coming World championship in Japan.
I love Mao!!!!! BUT the triple axel is not everything. She should water down and do a nice double axel and triple slachow and a triple loop combo until she gets the other jumps consistent. I hope she proofs me wrong and comes back in the long.

@zzm47891 saying that does not make me hate mao, i thought it would be better if she retired as i thought she does not enjoy to skate. why does that make me hate mao?. i have never posted any bad comments like what mao or yuna haters say, if you say i hate mao, i don't know how would you cope with people saying mao is a cheat jumper and a japanese cinderella .besides i like watching mao's video. this video, i have been wathching them for dozens of times.
sumimimi0 1 year ago
@sumimimi0 well, it doesnt matter if you like mao or other way around. i just dont think mao fans would like to see your comments since its very negative. she probably doesnt enjoy skating but its becoz she cant show her best right now. it is sad for me to see her struggling so much again after her very successful history and finally getting back her 3A last season. but she always comes back, and thats why i love her so much. i dont care people say her jumps are cheating or so, coz its not.
zzm47891 1 year ago
@zzm47891 well, my comments could be negative and if it did sorry, but that is my thought and i have been always cheering mao in other videos. and i am very angry about what you commented on me.

@sumimimi0 cool, and im sorry if i made you angry. i didnt mean that.

if you close your eyes when you watch Yuna kim's performance, you wouldn't hate it so much that you have to search and watch Mao's instead
collegeguy15 1 year ago
@ynkisno1 would you think it was beautiful if she moved like a robot, but she had facial expressions? of course not. her body laguage is fantastic, and she is far more graceful and flexible than yu-na. get your ugly butt out of here and let others enjoy her skating without your nagging.

her spins are beautiful and her steps are too

@maoasadarocks You know what? Never in the history of figure skating that the reigning world champion is trying to fix her jump. I just wonder how much money does the japan federation gave to ISU so mao can stole that gold medal from Yuna.

@ynkisno1 I was laughing my head off at that comment xD
Yuna is a skater who knows how to move her body to make herself beautiful, but at worlds 2010.... im sorry, but she PLAIN SUCKED!
Mao deserved that medal, and if you're going to keep talking about Mao this way, again, move your butt over to yuna's videos please!

you know what? never in history that a women could do a triple axel in the short program, or 2 triple axels in an ISU event, or 3 triple axels at the olympic. Not until the great Mao comes along. Don't hate
collegeguy15 1 year ago
@ynkisno1 of coz not. coz the rule was changed only a few years ago. no one needed to fix jumps. you know a lot of female skaters are getting "e" but still jumping flutz and lip? and so you even know how spins are judged and scored? if you wanna see facial expression that much, go to broadway show.
zzm47891 1 year ago
@ynkisno1 can't you just go somewhere else if you hate mao so much, and let us others enjoy her skating? without you nagging about how bad she is? watch yu-na instead then! no one asked for your opinion.
OliviaDoDance 1 year ago
@maoasadarocks Absolutely...she deserves nothing but respect for doing this. Mao doesn't HAVE to do this with all of her jumps. Her biggest issue has always been the lutz. She can still win with her old technique on the flip for example, but she always strives for more in her skating. In time she'll get it; she's a fighter. One thing she's got that very, very few skaters have got right now is some real experience. She's seen the lowest of lows and highest of highs. She'll persevere. ;)
pinto89100 1 year ago
@pinto89100 She deserves nothing but respect for doing this? SHE WASN'T FORCED to do this. She chose to compete because Mao is that stubborn and addicted to competing. She should have taken herself out of the GP events and worked on herself and her jumps. I would actually respect her MORE for doing that then being a ignorant on her part to compete when she's obviously not ready! Her NHK and TEB was all her doing and it's only making herself look bad.
MisterBokeh 1 year ago
@MisterBokeh EXACTLY. She wasn't forced to do this. All she really needed to do was get the lutz back to the way it was when she fixed it with TAT and gotten her salchow back into her repertoire. But she wants to do more than that. She wants to fix the pause into the mohawk turn in her flip (which if you've her practice clips she's already done); she wants to do more than is expected of her. Mao's making all these drastic changes when she doesn't have to and she doesn't deserve respect?
pinto89100 1 year ago
@pinto8910 im so happy she fixed the pause into her flip, and she did that in the long program. She also landed the salchow the past three attemps,...go Mao!!!!
collegeguy15 1 year ago
@collegeguy15 Yup. ^_^ And I saw her land such a beautiful one in practice. It had that flow that I haven't seen from her in a long time. She didn't have much luck with the flip here (she got kind of tense and mixed in her old technique with her new), but like you said, she landed one in the LP and it was much closer to the one she did during the practice sessions. She just needs to have confidence in her new technique. In time she'll get it.
pinto89100 1 year ago
@MisterBokeh Also chill out. If u'd bothered doing any research u'll have found some interviews by now. Try that before generalizing that this is some 'obsession' she has with competitions and she's ruining her reputation blindly. Mao has clearly emphasized that she is using this as a sort of extended training; she has stated that she wants to use these experiences to grow as a skater. Landing these jumps with her new technique during PRACTICE is not the same as in an actual COMPETITION.
pinto89100 1 year ago
@pinto89100 You chill out Mao lover! Talking about being defensive! In my opinion, good experience or not by competing in GP events, for the next few years Mao's got a lot of work cut out for her. Secondly, while she's doing her "extended training" as you say, Miki, Akiko & even Kanako will eventually overshadow Mao while she's in this slump. Kanako especially! Judges already seem to fancy Kanako and she doesn't have a 3A. That says a lot!
MisterBokeh 1 year ago
@MisterBokeh So speaks the guy who curses people out over pointing out Yu- Na's lip.
U know, after seeing how defensive you get over certain skaters, and the way u generalized over Mao like you despise her; I should've known u couldn't be reasoned with.
I'm not going to respond to ur first question as it seems appalling that you either rushed through what I wrote or simply didn't get it. I think you need time, or you just need to learn how to read. This should help! watch?v=wtJDy3WuUQM

Sochi is 4 years away.
I'd like to see Mao's Perfect skating.
But take your time, and fix your jump as you like.
Don't worry!!

@npka4 She says she want to break Queen Yuna Olympic record, but look at her performance lol. What a shame. She should give up now. The only person who can beat Yuna record is Yuna herself. Yuna will break her own record at the up coming World championship in Japan.

Love her music but she should put more power into it.
She is not a jumper who uses speed but seriously she became slower than before
her jump became so slow that i can count the rotations easy with my bare eyes

seaflow338 1 year ago
I love Mao!!!!! BUT the triple axel is not everything. She should water down and do a nice double axel and triple slachow and a triple loop combo until she gets the other jumps consistent. I hope she proofs me wrong and comes back in the long.
