For a test film, this is good. The quality is great, but it's obvious that you didn't really pay much attention to anything else besides "does the color and quality look good." You threw the rule of thirds out of the window (I could have cried), and it just didn't make much sense overall. But that's OK. The color and HD is nice. Mission accomplished, I suppose.
Hi my friend, let me tell you something about your film, your idea was great, and you really have a good acting, but I think you forgot an important detail: to give some color correction and contrast in order to reach the complete cinematic look.
@ChrisMAKESvideos1 Yeah we didn't have much choice because it was only us two filming and acting, and we didn't have a lot of time to shoot either. This is pretty old, check out my newer vids if you want to see me put this thing to the test!
@Droege1001 Okay, then something REALLY weird is going on here. Because I have my camera on the same settings and it does NOT have the same look as your footage. You can look at my top footage and see it's not the same.
@TheSouthernsurvivor Is color correcting all you did to it? Could you please give details in what you did as far as making it looking like this? It looks FANTASTIC. I have the hv 40 too and I edit with sony vegas 9 platinum.
@TheSouthernsurvivor I didn't do that much actually, using Sony Vegas 6 I adjusted the color curves to give it richer blacks and whiter whites, which really helped to bring out the color, then I used the basic color corrector and made it slightly warmer in the mid tones and highlights, and then for the low I gave it just a hint of blue, and wah lah! Film look.
I'm not a film buff but...it looks as if he is having a conversation with himself as the line of the actors is broken for the confrontation. It would be interesting to see how good the camera does with framing the environment along with the actors.
to be honest while the movie sucked in terms of writing and acting the colour correction was great looked like something I'd do. further break any rules you need in order to figure it out the fact is those rules were written according to experiments. and ultimately artist who find ways to make breaking them work are the ones who get recognition. now some might say learn them first then break them. I say do something then worry about doing everything.
0:48 180° rule broken... you might say: "Why the hell is everyone so mad about the 180° Rule?" Because it gives you the main perception of location for the viewer! work on it! Keep it up!
I have to agree with prammaven 100%, the crossing the line totally confuses the viewers' sense of screen direction. It's a basic issue (though admittedly get forgotten in the excitement of shooting!) Other than that, very nice scene, good visuals, great music and mood!.
It was great really! 4 out of the 5 stars

It wasn't horrible, just try to remember the 180 degrees rule.

Very good but some of the shots you chose were not in my preference list.

What editing software are you using? What are your exact settings on your camera? Thanks. Looks great by the way.
TheSouthernsurvivor 8 months ago
@TheSouthernsurvivor I was using Sony Vegas 6 for the editing and color correcting, and it was on 1080p 24p with automatic everything else.

@KillerWulf777 Haha thank you! I think they're just trying to see how much you can possibly hate on a test film.

I suggest brushing up on your facts.
1. A real cop would've shot at probbably 0.42 or would've said "drop the Gun and but your hands in the air!"
2 The yellow sweater kid wasn't holding the gun right

I'm not sure how to increase the resolution size. I'm still pretty new to YouTube.
