the bible is in fact a collection of books, and as some of the books got lost in time, they came back and were included in the bible together with the commentaries of some moralist priests who thought that modifying the content based on their views is not really a problem, and thus you can't tell who wrote such filthy passages. It is a pretty interesting story with the ancient Hebrew word for "know". Is it just me, or does it seem like a certain level of sadism is necessary to put on these Hell Houses? I mean, there are all these scenes about people who commit suicide, get raped, have abortions, die or AIDS, etc, not to mention the scenes about eternal torture in Hell. It seems to me that a person has to be kind of messed up to want to portray all that stuff in graphic detail for the purposes of converting an audience to Christianity.

I have heard the "old testament" argument dozens of times. Any person that insists the old testament is false must also admit that genesis and the ten commandments are incorrect as well. The truth, as explained by Dawkins is simply that religious people just cherry pick the bible for quotes agreeing with their world view (to bolster their faith or to shrug off criticism/logic), which was brought about by their childhood indoctrination. The problem is that ego can convert anything to its own use, even spirituality, or how these Christians look at the Bible.
