  • looking for an andy to buy, if anyone interested please contact me

    velliosant@gmail.com

  • Trippin on andromeda :D

  • 2:30. Are You Hudson Mohawke?

  • Duran Duran packs only one analog synth on the road with them... Nick Rhodes' favorite synth. Alesis Andromeda. Good enough for me!

  • I'm having John Carpenter scenes flashing through my head hearing this magnificent machine! So powerful.

  • @mindstormsabrewin nail on the head.. i was thinking Christine...

  • What is that thing called or should i say instrument that is wired so much @ 2:04 with the colorful wires?

  • @dj02tc5 its some type of modular synth

  • @dj02tc5 Dare I say a Moog Modular ?

  • Can andromeda recreate cs 80 sounds? For example in this demo there are some very beautiful pads in this video but in comparison ones i have heard from cs are still imbeatable in warmth and lushness (of course its not overall comparable to alesis witch is much more versatile) i would be very interested to know how close this synth can come to that. Also can andromeda do more simple sounds like ARP obyssey or MS-20 kinds of bassees? These are pretty rare in Finland an i hope someone could tell me :)

  • what a great sound

  • Nice presentation & wonderful sounds !

  • great... its discontinued this year....

  • I don't own a A6 but would like to attempt to re-create a few of the patches (namely patches @ 1:15 and 4:40). Would you be willing to share your settings? I'd be more than happy to reimburse you.

  • simple awesome its all good but I love the sounds from 1:40 - 2:45

  • Very good electronic, I like it

  • Hey, GCom67!! Do you need a roomate?

  • @unciase1 No! Me! Me! I'll even do the dishes!

  • at 3:41 can someone tell me what synth is underneath the pictured Andromeda? Thanks.

  • @TheDLovas It's a Rhodes Chroma (just "Chroma", not the Polaris one !)

  • @claytond do you own one?

  • @TheDLovas oberheim matrix 12

  • Wow - very nice demo indeed!

  • I would say the presets give u about 25% of what this beast can deliver so dont bother about them, u must tweak it to feel it, absolutely amazing gear, love mine to death!

  • this is the best sounding Taiwanese keyboard I've ever heard.

  • I'd like to see a video comparison with a Jupiter 8 or 6.

  • Wow! what a beast too bad they're so expensive although I'm sure they're worth every penny.

  • I had two of them and won't buy another one again! My first Andromeda had issues with the power supply and went up in smoke a few days later. The second one wich i bought a few months later had lots of system failures and error messages on the display. I brought it to a musicstore and got told that its not worth to repair it.. So it's nothing more than a good looking furniture in my studio :(

  • @Senj1n Hey if you have an Andromeda thats useless and completely broke then sell it to me. Name the right price and I'll buy that broken beast off of you. If it's useless then I guess even a little cash is better than nothing. Let me know.

  • I have a moog voyager, but I would love one of these for pads :D

  • Perhaps the best demo of the A6 on "youtube". Really sounds great.

This will be my first analog in years, once I get hold of one.

    I have the K.OASYS 88, K.PC3, Y.EX5, R. V-synth and K.MS2000.

The OASYS is a great machine, but nothing like the A6...

  • actually, i have heard the Virus TI produce pads like these.

  • 2 questions

andromeda vs roland jupiter 8, if you had to choose, which one?

and, was there a batch of andromeda;'s that had some problems? but the problems were only a small batch?

    great demo...

  • ABSOLUTELY GREAT !!!!!

  • $3000 on Ebay for this? Well how about i just buy an Access Virus TI2 better!

  • @LittleNegrillio

You CLEARLY do not know the Andromeda if you're saying that. Yes, Access is a wonderful, perhaps even god-like company, but for my money, PURELY on the basis of sound (sans things like an editor plug-in, etc), I'll choose the Andromeda ANY day of the week.

    BESIDES...

    Virus = VA.

    Andromeda = 100% thoroughbred ANALOG.

  • @LittleNegrillio sure the new virus synths are great and all, but no synths are made like they were back then, they are irreplaceable.

  • @LittleNegrillio it really comes down to the musician. Virus's are great it their own, different way. Besides, if i wanted to be the type of person who obessed over analog synths, i could say. THE VIRUS ISNT EVEN ANALOG. But lol, lets get real.

  • @LittleNegrillio It doesn't matter, about that. The Andromeda is just able to have that analog grit that defined synths like the prophets or Jupiters, but the Virus' clean sound is not something to toss aside either. Hopefully you'll see that no synth is "Better" than another.

  • @LittleNegrillio Access virus is good but not better, the virus the sound come from software inside more or less like a VST inside a midiboard, the sound from analog synthersizers come from complex electronic circuits not software and electronic circuits are not bugged like the Access products.

  • why didn't sell my granny for one of these?

  • Absolutely incredible!

This is probably the best demo I have heard that shows the true power of the Andromeda.

  • momma! the bit at 3:12 indeed

  • bravo :)

  • If there is a heaven, I bet that whenever an Andromeda is played, angelic choir rehearsal is suspended. And when the last note has rung out there is a moment of perfect profound silence which is abruptly ended by the voice of Bob Moog swearing: "Damn! I should have come up with this while I was alive!"

  • man the patch at 3:12 sound very good!! i cant wait to buy this synth this year!!

  • I've owned a Virus KC which relies haeavily on average quality effects. My JX10 through my Eventide makes the Virus sound like a joke ! ...one thing that bugs me about the Andromeda is the average quality effects....too much of a gimick in my opinion. Top end outboard reverbs will always sound better .....

  • Anything through an Eventide will sound like gold that's why the ultra harmonizers are thousands of dollars even the eclipse is an impressive processor. Agreed that the A6 effects are ho-hum but then I never use onboard effects except for a K2600 but even then I prefer to use outboard gear. The beauty of this unit is that is doesn't sound like it's contemporary counterparts (DSI, MOOG, etc.). I had the luxury of playing one years ago and all I have to say is you will fall in love.

  • very nice!

  • god damn it I want one of these so badly... time to start donating plasma.

  • @thedefog I'd troll eBay if I were you. That's probably the only way to get one of these. Alesis stopped making them after they went bankrupt. Now all they have is that virtual one of theirs.

  • @thedefog lmfao thats hillarious, and im with you!

  • I've been listening to synths all day.. nord.. access.. trying to like them, and this is the only one that made me think WOW instead of "cheesy".

  • killer moooog lead at 3:12 and yeah the Stairway To H. pad is lovely too....would like to have this baby but the Virus Ti keeps telling me not to get it!!!

  • Comment removed

  • doooope shit

  • im jealous

  • Has anyone ever done a comparison to the prophet 8? or OBX

  • There is nothing to compare really with the prophet 08, it's more of a classic sounding synth. It all comes down to what type of music you want to do. I like some of the sounds the Prophet 08 can do, but I think I will be better off with an Andromeda A6 so I will buy it. I get more voices, more variation, and a little more modern raw analoge sound. But the Table model of Prophet 08 is very cheap so I might buy that to in time.

What kind of music do you want to make?

  • To the last poster: What you're doing is comparing ice cream to tuesday. The virus is a very different type of synth than this. That's like saying "my ford is so much cooler than my harley"

Don't knock the virus. It's a killer machine. They both are.

  • Don't talk bullshit, you can compare this with the Ti, there is nothing the Ti can do that this synth can't and even better because it's analog.

  • This is not very true, especially said by somebody who has synth knowledge. The TI can do wavetable synthesis and FM synthesis, and the A6 Andromeda does not do those kind of synthesis ;)

Well...there's synths who do those things better (waldorfs for example) but that's aanother question :)

  • I agree with you, I made a comment about wavetable possibilities on the Virus, didnt think of FM :)

  • That's not true actually, I own both the andromeda A6 and a Virus TI2 Polar. The soundpalette of the TI is possibly larger, wavetable synthesis, formant, a whole bunch of fx that arent present on the Andromeda.

But the sound and the programming possibilities of the Andromeda, like the filters and enveloping possibilities, WOW! It's so incredibly versatile :)

  • call me purist but i'd never compare analog to any virtual one. To me it's still like comparing digital pianos to grand pianos.

  • the access virus is a piece of shit compared to this monster. I had a virus TI and i sold it due to its high aliasing, etc.

nothing beats a real analog and andromeda is the king of real analogs - the most powerful polysynth ever!

ALESIS is a premium brand, despite some flops like the fusion. premium brand at a great price.

  • yeah you know what the virus ti (the polar is gorgeous probably one of the best looking synths I've ever seen) didn't sound good to me. I liked the b series better. It is more aggressive imo than this but this is overall a far superior synth.

  • Ahhh, that is a very opinionated statment sir. I do think the Virus Ti is not a very good representation of the Virus ( Sounds like a VSTi - Digital as hell ) , but the Virus KC and all models back are still wonderful VA synths. Check my stuff out for a few examples. You have the right to what you think though. : )

  • One of the best if not the best poly synth ever created and I have them all to compare. The Andromeda leaves my jupiters, moogs in fact all my synths standing.

I can replicate nearly all my synths with the Andromeda.

If you want a synth that can do any sound you want then get an Andromeda.

Do not listen to the presets on this thing program your own then you will see she is a beauty.

  • @sneakyalien Its interesting you saying that it can replicate all your Jupiters and moogs but can you provide evidence? I'd like to hear the signature sounds of a Jupiter, a Juno pad and a Moog Bass and hear the Andromeda replicate it. Is it possible for youo to provide a demo? thanks

  • @sneakyalien True. The A6 has a nice warm, clean sound. But, in fact, replicating other Synths (soundwise seen) is a matter of control possibilities. I had a Korg Ms2000 and it was also able to recreate every type of sound, even it was driven by a set of DSPs. But the -quality- of the sound was not the best.

  • @sneakyalien i own an andromeda plus a whole load of high end analog synths and it sounds nothing like any of them. I think your trying to boost its resale value here or you dont own any of the synths you mention. My model d in terms of sound absolutely pisses all over the andy, the same goes for my prophet 5. even my juno 60 has a more refined sound. However put it up against all the best digital, dave smith analogs and it clearly leaves them all for dust. I love my andromeda as it is

  • @sneakyalien In fact is more customizable than jupiters, moogs and moogs are monophonic except a few models.

  • Damn I want this thing!!! Luv the pads from 1:14 to 1:30,Think Imma plug the comp straight into my MP and sample u and make a beat.....

  • OK! The patch at 3:30 is the most amazing thing I've ever heard. Really nice work.....goosebumps.

  • i second that....the one at 2:35 to 3:10 is amainggggg

  • can this synth produce sounds like those in the can halen song 1984??

  • Kinda. Van Halen runs an OB-X (Not Xa) through a guitar amp. Listen to the song "I'll Wait". I think the filters in the andromeda are inspired by the Oberheim S.E.M/OB-X. However, OB-X and S.E.M's are discrete analogs, not integrated circuits. You'll find some sounds of OB-X at bluesynths.

  • @fleskebille it's a common misconception that it was OB-X. EVH clearly states in a Keyboard mag interview it was OB-Xa in split mode (necessary on 1984 album - couldn't do it with OB-X anyway)

  • if there was a band called Can Halen they would be my favorite. but would Eddie's new vocalist be Damo Suzuki or Malcolm Mooney?

  • the ultimate analog poly-synth...gotta love alesis

  • excellent sounds!!!

mine gets here next week :D

  • Creamed my pants when I put this on. Im a luvver of the Low noises, sub base and great whacking dirty synths.

  • That was GREAT!!!! Congratulations !!!!

Hi can I buy these sounds as sysex file from you?

  • Great post... I really want 1 now!!!!!

  • Superb. And you captured the A6 power very nicely.

  • Many thanks Hogberto!

  • Superb. And you captured the A6 powers very nicely.

  • Excellent. Stunning example of organic synthesis!

  • Superb. And you captured the A6 power very nicely.
