  • So good. Anybody know what the jazzy/bluesy part he plays in the end is? Is it in the raspberry or blackberry jams? I would love to hear more and to know what chords they are.

  • of my opinion jason bekker and kirk hammet is my faovrit guitarst in the world

  • theres a really easy way to play that first descending passage using the open e. but jason can play it the harder way cause he's a haus.

  • Nobody comes even close to Jason Beckers skill,Tecnique. He will always be the best guitarist that ever lived.God bless you Jason.Hope you get better.I pray for you.

  • That fucking enormous hand...

    He's from another planet :)

  • this is a Bach Partita in E - at least thats from my experience from playing it on violin. great piece.

  • Anyone have any idea what guitar that is?

  • @Bomberdoom No idea but it looks like an old model of les paul with F-Holes.

  • @siegvash allright thanks

  • The BEST EVER!!

  • Only Jason Becker can have the amount of greatness required to play something REALLY FUCKING HARD on camera and having trouble with it at some point and just saying "It´s too hard man, don´t even try to play it" with a big smile on his face.

  • In Jasons defense he's playing it way faster than most do, I'm sure if he played at the tempo all the others are (the more traditional tempo) it would be flawless. Though I personally think it sounds better the way Jason plays it.

  • yeah fuck all those illuminati bitches Lady caca devil worshiper

  • I can't wait to see NOT DEAD YET!

  • god

  • Bach would be proud of him

  • is the full video available anywhere?

  • Had this on VHS when i was younger & it changed me. I went on to learn the peice, the most satisfying thing i've done musically. Its not that hard to play as well, slowed down to proper pace, everyone should learn it. Give it a go!

  • is that a JOHN SCOFIELD guitar?

  • Ledgend !

  • Comment removed

  • Nice little Jeff Beck "You Know What I Mean" quote at the end, I love Jason so much!

  • 2:27-2:30, Did anyone else see that sweet look in his eyes. So relaxed and truly enjoying the music?

  • This reminds me of the movie "August Rush"

  • @phrantix

He got Als and can't move at all now not even speak. His mind is still sharp though

  • @Trahira517 ----- @kualpaca1 : haha yeah i so agree with both xD

  • so pretty

  • this is not so hard if you play it without a pick and using one hand, the way as jason do it is hard

  • This is the True music

  • @megahyke

    Também acho....

  • Jason Becker the best guitar player ever

  • it looks the so cool the way jason taps upwards

  • This bach piece is called Prelude BWV 1006 written for the luth or piano. I have never seen this piece played at speed with a pick. Amazing ! wow. This is usually played on a classical guitar but at a slower tempo and there is less movement and shifts. He is playing it like a violin. I think if he would have slowed down a little bit he would have for sure finished it. Truly remarkable. This is one of those pieces that nobody wants to include in a recital because it is so hard. hes right fuckit

  • God's commandment. "Though shall not have other God's beside me". and jason becker was becoming a god. so he took away his abilities. =(

  • Jason is the Guitar God of all the Guitarists out there.Even today nobody can ever reach to his capability and will ever reach. At that age Jason was dignosed of ALS disease. Its soo sad but beautiful melodious music will always remain in Jasons heart and Jasons music will always remain in my and all of our hearts.God bless you. Jason you will always remain my Guitar God and my guitar inspiration throughout my life.My one dream in my life is to get to meet you in person nd play half as good as you

  • Lol he's funny at the end of the video. Well, that's Jason, no god complex.

  • "Fuck it man, too hard. Don't even try to play it."

We have a serious problem when Jason Becker says that.

  • @Trahira517 OMG I was ready to answer with a Chuck norris like Joke And when the video stopped the sky here in greece turned to black...

  • @Trahira517 Unfortunately, it is playable :P he is using a very difficult transcription; he is picking _every_ note .. and playing it in the original speed. U might wana give it a try; playing it in E, and using your right hand middle/ringfinger to pluck strings additional to your picking, then youll have a lot of open string plucking which Jason has to solve with twohand picking.. and try it a bit slower; its rly not impossible, and fun to play ;)

  • @VoiDukkha

Yes, haha. This is a staple to any classical guitarists repertoire. He's trying to make it harder than it actually is.

  • @Trahira517 dude - I don't think anyone has ever said a truer word!!

  • @Trahira517 That comment becomes ever more true evry time i read it... hold on how many times have i watched Jason play now!?!?

  • @xTonyxMaddenx Probably not as many times as I've listened to Perpetual Burn.

  • "too hard, dont even try to play it".....that makes me sad.... :(

  • 4 dislikes?... those 4 deserve Jason's disease

  • @diazluisdiaz no one deserves that

  • @SinistrChevy i was kidding man....

  • I would kill some1, just for hearing Jason playing again.

  • to me is genius too since 1989 that im listening to him hes a truely guitar genius

  • this guy is insane

  • Ive been looking for this for a while....amazing

  • Like the Jeff Beck tribute at the end : "You Know What I Mean"

  • He's such an inspiration, he shows that no matter what happens to you, you can continue to do what you love. Everyone should know about this guy and all the great things he has done.

  • fuck it man

  • just look at him, so innocent and god-like, how i wish he'll get better and will recover. i'll pray for you jason.

  • @yundili1 How I wish that could happen.

  • how did he get lou gherigs disease again?

  • @mikem376 I think it's something you just get..

  • What the hell?

  • @mikem376 Shit happens, even to the best of us unfortunately

  • Well damn, you know he writes songs with his eye movements on a screen now?

  • @mikem376 Yes ofc. Though I'm sure we all miss his guitar-playing...

  • Yea...

  • its not that hard at all :S

  • 4 people don't like real music.

  • Jason Becker is the best guitarist in the world he made master piece of music

  • amazi...*runs out of breath*

  • Comment removed

  • He can reach from the 5th fret to the 12th while tapping at 16?? Wtf?! That's amazing!

  • I brings to tears thinking about how talented Jason Becker was and how he was capable of writing such beautiful music. In the end his ability to play music was slowly taken from and practically turned into a human vegetable. Why did it have to be him and not fucking Lady Gaga or any of the popular artist today that i can't consider musicians.

  • @kualpaca1 yea , y not get rid of justin bieber .....

  • @kualpaca1 - So true, except for the veggie part....trust me, his mind is as sharp as ever and he is very much alive mentally. I still can't beat his brilliant ass in Scrabble!

  • @kualpaca1 Well if it were a popular figure then you'd just hear a bunch of musical idiot bitching about it, then they'd move on to the next fad. Jason, however, forever remains a god.

  • @kualpaca1 He still writes music man. It is shame that he can't play anymore though =(

  • @kualpaca1

A.) just because Jason is paralyzed, it doesn't make him a vegetable at all. he's all there. it's insulting for you to call him a vegetable because while music was a big part of his life, his family and friends mean a lot more to him and he still has them.

B.) lady gaga is a musician. she's one of the few who have studied music while being a popular artist. she also can play piano.

you're an asshole for wishing his illness on anyone else

  • @kualpaca1

at least he can still compose music. his body is a vegetable, but his mind still reeks of musical creativity and he is able to express that without even being capable of moving. genius on the level of beethoven.

  • @kualpaca1 I wouldn't wish that on anyone...jesus

  • @kualpaca1 idk who he really is exactly, what happened to him?

  • @kualpaca1 wish i knew the answers to your questions :/ true genius

  • @kualpaca1 he's not a vegetable, his mind is still intact

  • @kualpaca1 amennnnnnnnn

  • @kualpaca1 completely agree with you. Garbage creatures like lady gaga , beyonce and the rest of the shit called artists these days should get this fate if anyone should get it. You simply cannot deny that people like jason and people like artists today are two TOTALLY opposite species. Jason was a real musician with LOVE for music, Beyonce a real talentless creature with LOVE for money , fame and shallowness.

They have hijacked the music industry and someone should kick them all the hell out

  • @kualpaca1 hes still a musical genius and no vegetable!

  • @kualpaca1

Can you even imagine the type of impact he would have had on music. He would be a household name, far more famous than Van Halen, Kirk Wahmett, or Zack Mild. He's far beyond what any musician can match, amazing beyond belief. He would have changed the face of music, I would go so far as to suggest that he potentially could have influence popular music to having kids attempting to play caprices rather than chugging on a drop F string or repeating 3 chords forever.

    Rock on bro.

  • it is a fact that Jason is a genius!!!

  • Tapping is Eddie's Job.......well everthing is eddie's job...

    Jason and Marty Is amazing..

  • so dope wow............

  • perfec...

  • i just found out about this guy yesterday . he's not my favourite guitarist but dam i sure think he's the best and i think probably the best musician to ever live (part form some Asian pianist might give him a run for his money )

  • it almost sounds like a piano, but even more beautiful..

  • i could probably play this if i sat down with the tab for a few hours

  • @3510211 you 'probably' could, but fuck it man, dont even try.

  • @3510211 Who gives a s...t

  • @GuitarsOfArp i just meant its not that difficult.

  • @3510211

that`s what Jason is/was all about..he makes it look very easy..but you know..it`s not!

God bless you Jason! best whishes!

  • @3510211 go ahead and show us what you can do by posting a video

  • @Kakhaufan dont really care enough of what others think i can/cant play. hardly even play guitar anymore. but i could play this. its not difficult except for a few wide stretches

  • @3510211 Well you know man. Fuck it. Don't even try to play. =D

  • kool

  • Who tell me what guitar the genius is playng???w

  • Comment removed

  • @LiCorrea58 i think its a ES-335, Takamine acoustic

  • @LiCorrea58 thanks..

  • fuck it man too hard. don't even try to play it

  • beautiful song and "from this earth" :) jason

  • does someone have the tabs for this piece?? or someone plz tell me where can i get them :)

  • Sorry, but I think this is a beautiful piece that should be played at a slower tempo to be enjoyed thoroughly. You shouldn't play it that fast just because you can. Don't get me wrong, Jason has immense talent and clearly has a great amount of skill, but in my opinion, playing the song that fast just takes away from the beauty of it. Less is more sometimes.

  • Do you guys know how hard this piece is to play? I have the tab and I've flung that book across the room many a nights :) Sad part is he prolly started playing it about 4 days before he made this video. And he's not doing bad, for picking it not bad at all! Check out Perpetual Burn if you wanna hear him get off! Amazing!!!

  • may be a silly question, but where does he learn to play like this?

  • When was this written? It's lute suite 4 by Bach. Not to knock Becker by any means but that means that there were players in the 17th century knocking this piece out.

  • @intervalkid Go learn the 16th caprice, bedroom shredder.

  • Directly after writing my last comment I realized that the version he plays is a much different rendition than that played by classical guitarists and is probably much more difficult as I know from the fingerpicked version "Air" that Becker is an excellent classical player and composer.

  • @kobrakommando Do not think that I do not love Jason Becker as I have loved his music since "Perpetual Burn" first came out in '91. I was only in amazment that Becker couldn't play it and that it was played in the 17th century, as I thought when I wrote it that it was the same arrangment

  • @kobrakommando As for "bedrrom shredder": you should be familiar with more than one piece of someoes work before you judge them.

  • @intervalkid you have to remember jason was still a TEEN at this time. i doubt those players in the 17th century were 17 when they played this beautiful peace.

  • @TheWhocares233 actually players such as bach and beethoven were a lot younger when they started composing.the only difference is the time periods.back then they prolly didnt have nearly as much to do as we have to offer now with technology advancing and whatnot. so they prolly played piano all the fuckin time. haha.jasons still considered a prodigy but prolly didnt play as much as early composers did when they were young. he was too busy gettin pussy and partyin and still managed to be the best

    BECKER = Guitar God!!

  • never knew masterpieces could go under the radar

  • That reach of fingers is amazing

  • The best of all time Jason Becker forever

  • sometimes when i saw people playing like this i feel sad coz i cant play so good, but at the same time it make me want to be better coz i have an oporunity that he doesnt..., i will be lying if i say that i prefer to be like he is now, but definetly i want to be better in his honor... HE WILL ROCK TO THE GODS OF ROCK IN HEAVEN AND BLOW SATANS BRAIN!!!

  • FUCK! I feel like shit! at 17 he's already a god!! wtf am i doing at 17.... a whole bunch of NOTHING compared to this guy! DAMN YOU JASON BECKER!

  • @assholefuckerjackass aww i feel you man , but i still love that guy man :D

  • awesome .....

  • This video blows my mind every time.

  • jason!!!!!!!

  • I wonder what he started to play right before the vid faded to black.

  • @KornSOAD I think he's playing 'You know what I mean' by Jeff Beck at the end there dude :)

  • @ELEPHIN0 yeah i think u're righr the riff it's the same

    nice ear

  • haha. You're absolutely right! i thought it sounded familiar. lmao. good call dude.

  • It's a piece like this that gives great insight into Jason's amazing arrangements. Just so crazy that a teenage kid could rip like this... And he is so much more humble than the kids nowadays that can shred half as good as he could.

  • i can't stand the fact that this was taken away from me/us.

    there is no one better.

  • this piece should not be played with a pick, than its almost fuckin impossible , with fingerpicking you can play it a lot cleaner and nicer

  • lets see you do it, im sure we'll all be very impressed

  • no i'm not a reall good classical finger picker hahah and i wont dare it too play it just like jason with a pick. thats just scary hahah . But what i mean was if you practice your finger picking technique it should be a way easier too play. Watch john williams , he plays every note perfect

  • jason is God, and u suck

  • you dont even know who the fuck i am , ridiculous youtube people, i cant even say what i think about a video without some shitty people complain about it.

  • Usually when I read comments on such perfect playing like here I find words like 'talent, genius etc" ...but we forget about one tiny element ...work :) Now try to imagine how much hard work he must have put into playing ! Nothing comes easily if it is to be perfect. Yeah he was a genius.

  • Indeed, his technique and execussion were not just talent but hard work. Now, his compositions an musicality came from far beyond...

  • Is this tabbed anywhere? I'd like to try it out.

  • Bach's Prelude in E-Maj 1006a.

There's sheet music for it for classical guitar, you should be able to transpose it for electric guitar quite quickly with tapping and all.

  • To me Jason is truely a genius

  • @NAThan9871 he is more than a genius,he really does not deserve to be like he is now,he deserves a real place as a real guitar player/muscician/composer

i must say that he could be easly a motivation for anyone

  • @NAThan9871 amen.

  • wtf is it with all you guys!? We are supposed to be sharing the love and pursuit of guitar. It is NOT a competition and being able to play well, in any genre, makes you neither better or worse than anyone else! Now I can see why so many people hated being around me when I was younger and used to carry on like this about how good I thought I was. You don't see the really talented pro's acting like this... It's really disappointing to see guys who share the same interest act like little children.

  • Finally a sane person on youtube! i just tend to ignore people's stupid comments by not even reading them...the're typically all the same, every video people just argue..whats the purpose??

  • thank you.

  • @MrChevyMetcalf most of the people arguing cant actually play anything so they act like loud mouths on youtube to pretend they know stuff. :D

  • @MrChevyMetcalf Jason is better then everyone else. He was in 1 of the biggest metal bands of the 80's when he was a teen. Took people most of their lives to become that good and big.

  • his hand stretches sooooo far at 1:16 it looks nasty lol.. Jason will never cease to amaze me :D

  • Comment removed

  • " fuck it man!! too hard! don't even try to play "

  • He is a son of a bitch? you it instead are! how you allow say so great JASON BECKER! you have taught to Jason playing, well! Who are you? someone you know? NO! then please go to fuck

  • relax asshole! its a figure of speech, its what is called a veiled compliment. ENGLISH HARDER

  • fuck you turd!, you are english, i am italian it is clear that not so speak well enough English, but You can make it possible to speak badly of Jason, then fuck off, cojones

  • any one has the real tan for this?, this version, not the arranged for guitar that is on the web, please anyone, or the original partiture

  • This song is really rewarding to learn. i had this video of jason on VHS as a kid, & it got me into classical music.....(easy to learn with tabs, if u play at your own pace)

  • Dude!! this shit look's mad hard to play.

  • @brunthroath6912 -> Trust me, it is....

  • every afternoon i came n watch this video like 20 times before leevin' college, it's so in me now, just like jerkin' off when i wake up

  • we didnt need to know that last part but damn it... your right.

  • J. S. Bach - Partita in E Major BWV 1006 (Prelude)

    watch?v=J_z4B39scXc

    Is the same.

  • thanks

  • yeah but i think hes playing Rachmaninov's variation of it.

its pretty much the same just a few added counter points

  • Comment removed

  • sounds like partita in E major
