Funny how all people are expert drivers here on youtube. This guy is a better driver then 99% of the people driving on the roads.

If you never make any mistakes you are not pushing hard enough. Doesn´t matter if your a F1 or WRC champion, when you are pushing close to the limit mistakes will happen sometimes.

You have a lot more confidence in the other drivers around there than I do, especially at the speed you are travelling. I find the driving standards/ability varies greatly around there so try to err on the site of caution.

Thanks for the comments, the car isnt that fast in a striaght line to be honest, its the way it handles that makes it fast.

Two weeks after these laps were filmed on a tourist day at the Ring I did my first ever race which was the last round of the Nippon at Pembray Wales. I qualified the car on pole and won all three races!

I'm not uploading the video's though as they're dead boring and my hand positions that bad I did one whole lap with one hand on the gear lever!

I like the way you've caged it with the interior, sort of a clubsport, the car looks very easy to drive by the way, real point and squirt. I know people are mugging off your hand positions a bit, but at the end of the day it's still a quick lap. The lack of heal and toe was annoying me more than the hand positions, I think you were just trying to counter for the slow steering rack of the impreza.

I enjoyed that, good driving I thought, just not my style of hand positioning.

I was last at the Nurburgring in my Vectra VXR with a Stage One remap (305 BHP) and did a 8 minute 57 second lap.

I've now got 400 BHP and a load more tricks to keep it on the road. Might see you there next time lol

If you're comfortable with the hand position, it doesn't really matter if you're a bit off - besides, you know what's coming up and the 'classic' position(s) may not be applicable for best control.

What I would ask is if you're suffering from eccessive understeer? Just the way the car seems to be re-acting to you.

I was watching and enjoying up to the point of the incident, then noticed your hands, I don't want to get in to a slanging match but you know that is less than ideal. There must be a reason, is the steering lock really bad or is it very heavy?

Or maybe the gear ratios aren't great for the Ring so need changing mid corner?

@anarky277 Thanks for your constructive criticism.You are right my hand positioning on the wheel is bad but I'm looking at it now I've just started racing.

Its never that bad when I drive my other car which is a modded 306 but the Scoob delivers its power like a modern diesel with a narrow power band so I'm alway between gears. It may also be down to having limited movement in my left wrist due to a bike accident. Anyway keep watching to see if I improve!

I am an ARDS instructor and in all honesty feeding the wheel is one of my pet hates but he is obviously in control, that shows from the near miss, a lot of people would have panicked and caused almost certain carnage, in whatever work or sport you do there is always more that one way of doing things to get the same result and this obviously works for him.

The problem with putting up track videos on youtube is everyone becomes and expert and has advice, meanwhile they have probably never been over 100mph, driven the ring or competed. Most give their advice based on what they have ead from the net, or, had a few goes round a track and think they are Sebastian Loab. I get the same on my videos. Makes me laugh.
