  • What rights are "whites" denying to other races? Please help me out with that. Also, if you want to apologize for slavery and shit AGAIN that's fine but I have done nothing wrong to which I am sorry for. To suggest by saying I'm sorry wipes away all the shit my ancestors may or may not have done to a black person BEFORE I WAS EVEN BORN is just crazy. We can never move forward to end racism if we keep looking back and constantly reminding the other of what bad choices were made by our ancestors.

  • LOL so true

  • You know what you're talking about.

I agree with you 100 percent.

We, as heteros, don't have the right to deny anyone anything.

And I love how you think marriage is stupid. I agree.

It's a legal document and a religious statement.

  • you actually make a really good point and as a hetero i would be willing to get a civil union. i was wondering how to avoid the whole church thing. it has only made the country worse and spread the kinds of horrible beliefs that got prop 8 passed.

  • drunk much?

  • look up the Pursuit of Happiness under the core democratic value: Doing what makes you happy without hurting one physically.

  • why should ppl vote for ur happiness?

  • i agree with almost everything you said, except the word marriage literally means union. no religious undertones at all. religions "borrowed" the term and used it to describe their religious unions. but i agree w/ you that marriage as we know it is just a legal contract. period. and it should be seen as such. nobody has the right to deny anyone the freedom to do what's in their hearts. what if there was a prop to ban christianity? that would be a whooole different story!

    great vid!

    <33

  • Dan your so right as all ways. Come to the U.K We have the right to marry who ever you love! We got that right at least. T xx

  • I loved your video, but you got one thing a little wrong. Marriage is NOT a religous institution & never was intended as such. Marriage is & always has been a legal institution granting, protecting and guaranteeing legal rights under the law. A heterosexual marriage does not have to be performed in a church or by a preacher or clergy member. The religious fanatics & right wing wackos(is there a difference?) have perverted marriage into more religious dogma. Marriage is a legal right for all.<3U

  • It could possibly get rid of civil unions as well....The wording is Marriage and anything like it.....FUCK RELIGION THAT VOMITS DOWN EVERYONES THROAT....

  • you are by far the most annoying of the fiveofakinds... but you are also the hottest

    so i forgive you

  • You think he is the most annoying because he makes the most sense. He may not be funny, but hey... as Dan has said Fuck you.

  • well said !!!!! but id still wanna get married to my girl, but i do understand where your coming from.

  • When you are posting more videos... you are more handsome :)

  • Dan, nice 1, I agree with ya on everything.... and don't worry about your finger thing, I'd take anything from ya :op

  • I totally agree with Civil unions and not marriage. Although I do not bash religion because while it is popular to point out the wrongs of it - there are a few that genuinely follow their faith to be better people - so I do not discriminate against people of faith.

  • I

    absolutely

    love

    you.

    great video.

  • loved the vid.

is it weird of me to say you look so cute in this vid?? i sound like one of your big youtube crushes now or something...weird...

  • Exactly.

  • I'm not a true supporter of gay marriage either. I'm a supporter of EQUALITY. I want gay marriage to be leagalized, even though I will never get married. I want it soley for purpose of equality.

  • I agree!!! Why letting others vote for your hapiness? Thats so F* up

  • Actually if u wanna bring race into it, so many gays worked for the Obama campaign and by doing that they encouraged the black race to make sure they got out to vote for Obama. Statistics show that the reason that Prop 8 was passed was because 7 in 10 blacks voted to ban gay marriage. That was the deciding factor! So, I say you got what you deserved folks! This is coming from a gay guy who wants legal rights for we in the gay community. Suck it up, and live with your choices! Peace....

  • marriage is not exactly a religious thing necessarily. marriage has been around since the beginning of human civilization, before organized religion developed. and what "civil marriage" is, is what you described as a civil union, so i think the terminology should definitely stay marriage, but it should be extended to everyone.

  • Finally someone who thinks the same way i do about marriage! Right on!

  • ARGH! I feel your pain. I was sooooooooo depressed when I found out prop 8 passed...along with the other ballot measures in Arizona, Florida, and Arkansas. BTW the Arkansas one is the most ridiculous thing I have EVER heard in my life.

  • I total agree...people shouldn't of voted for it that is just not right wut so ever! its liek votin for women rights or the right for black to be free!like wtf hell I am sorry that is stupid! I live in Canada were here we treat people EQUALY!!! that is the way it fuckin should be! FUCKERS!!!!

  • Right fucking on Brother!

  • I think Obama will help all of us gays out for sure!

  • You just sort of quoted the Libertarian Party Platform, sort of, Welcome to the mindset of our Founding Fathers and the way this Country operated for the first 75 years.

  • Sorry,

I love you but your argument is lost in your profanity. Seems somewhat childish to me. Take your ball and go home huh. Calm down and keep working like the rest of us. By the way did I say that I love ya. Yes

  • I tend to agree. And if you've seen my vlog... I love the word fuck. But when making an argument or a point, it makes the arguer look desperate and bitter. Sorry Dan. I love you though and your point is right on with how I feel.

  • Dan, It's so great when you do these type of shout outs. your passionate about the things that matter to you. never back down. keep them coming but don't wear yourself out though.

  • To me I've always felt that there are folks out there that really need to feel like they are a step above the rest or at least a step above somebody. And thats what this is really all about. I'm feeling like this issue is being dangled over our heads and it's saying..."Yeh we cant stop you from being gay but we can stop you from being equal." It's sad but it is, at the same time, typical. It's also funny to me that these folks are against a marriage that they're not invited to.

  • whenever an issue like this is put to public vote. People are basically voting other peoples rights away. It is complete and utter discrimination. I hope Obama sorts this MESS out.

  • Totally agree. I don't know why gays will not let go of the term marriage and accept civil unions (which is what everyone actually has anyway.)The passage of the California and Florida's denial of the right to have unions may be because of Obama. He opposed them but many "religous" blacks came out to vote for him and against gays. Irony? Those whose rights have been realized joyfully take them away from others. Gays need five votes on the Supreme Court to say love whom you want under the law.

  • "Marraige" is actually a civil contract that historically was used to convey property rights within a family. The idea of marraige has been stolen or piggybacked by religions, but it's start was for the government to recognize who owns what at a time of death.

Having said that, it's terribly sad that gay rights are treated in this disrespectful manner. Civil/human rights should never be up to popular opinion. Where would blacks & women be now if their rights were left up to the voters?

  • wow. you're a bit on edge. something musta seriously pissed you off this week. but you have a point. if everyone is gonna get (for lack of a better word) married, kepp it the same word. why's it gotta be marriage and then "gay " mariage? i really don't wanna say it, but it seems like being gay is the new black. :(

  • Loved this vid Dan! I have same views on a lot of things. 5 Stars!!

  • I understand your anger. The thing is, we will always be considered subordinate to straights if we have separate institutions, and unfortunately this country is at least 80% religious. To me, the Prop 8 issue was more a matter of stripping us of our dignity and respect. The Pro-prop 8 campaign was conducted in a hurtful and insulting way here in CA. But are you planning to spend the rest of your life flipping off 90% of the population? Other minorities have found a better way. I hope we do too.

  • The Attn Gen of CA has stated that all existing gay marriages are still valid in CA. This whole mess is going straight into the courts immediately. It's a legal nightmare that is far from over. The Prop 8 vote this week in CA actually settled nothing.

God save us from the tyranny of the majority.

  • Well said Dan. Period.

  • I agree. I don't understand how people can validate having a vote that is really only going to effect other people, and not their own lives. I have yet to hear a valid logical reason on why gays should be denied the right to vote, I always get religious reasons.

People don't really have a reason, other than what they are taught to believe. When you are taught something, especially religion, some people tend to not question it and just taken in what they are told as truth.

  • Hey theres an idea just turn it all into a non-judgemental civil union if u want it to be called marriage you have to do it in a church and legally it will be a civil union if straights think that a civil union is all you need then they should be fine too. Amendment 2 in Florida however is gonna screw everyone even straight people they just took away their own rights so any unmarried straights with children guess what you have no more rights!

  • Its all fucked up in my opinion. Just when you were making progress by electing Obama, then you go and be fucktards and vote yes on a seemingly small proposition.

And since when does a 3% majority make it alright to make something a law? I'm not american, but this all seems like bullshit to me. You still have a long way to go, America.

  • As long as heterosexuals keep using the term Marriage and they give homosexuals the term Civil Union, then homosexuals are just as segregated as african-americans were in the 60's. We all need to be given the same name and terms when it comes to our commitment and love to an other person. I have the feeling that heterosexuals are not going to stop using this term. So I think that we need to all get over the religious stigma of the word marriage and concentrate on the true meaning: LOVE!

  • Heh. If someone could prove, like really truly prove, that marriage = religion, that person could directly lead to making all kinds of marriage legal. =3

I think I'd still prefer it if you could only marry within your species, though. =\

  • What's needed is a word other than "marriage" that can be used. Fuck "marriage" just give people who are life partnered or civil union-ed the exact same rights under the constitution. I kinda like the words "life partnered" because alot of lgbt people who wanted to use the term "marriage" said the reason was the poetic/romantic/imagery of the term. And cause "civil union" sounds like some kind of surgical procedure.

  • Here in Canada we finally have legalized gay marriage/civil unions in both church and state, although churches are not required to hold ceremonies for gay couples if it goes against their beliefs (a lot of Protestant churches allow them, I don't know about Catholic, Jewish or Muslim ones).

I think gays should have the right to marry - I assume you don't care because you're an athiest - because lots of gays do believe in God and also want the social and psychological support for their union.

  • Ha. I posted that comment while watching the video and two seconds later you said it. Heh.

  • Marriage is religious. This issue shouldn't be gay marriage, it should be separation of church and state, making marriage give no rights, where civil unions do.

  • do u smoke?

  • first! yeah it was a huge event that obama won xD
