I loved the game, it's great fun, and hilarious, but it seemed to me that ultimately nothing had changed.

@mvenom101 My guess is that the whole ending was heavily based on "you're free". You got to see sunlight and crops and you didn't have to do tests and all that. It' could be a little hard to grasp from our perspective, especially since, as you say, nothing has actually changed. GLaDOS is still insane and will continue testing, Wheatley isn't a moron anymore, but he IS stranded in space which nullifies any accomplishment he has made.

So I think it's a fulfilling ending. Freedom is nice.

Not only was the end more epic (dat moon shot) more emotional (the turret song and the outside world) and more humorous (wheatley's unfortunate space companion) the game as a whole made Portal 1 look like a simple first level. Portal 2 did exactly what a sequel should. It kept the same core mechanics while adding onto them in creative and constructive ways. The addition of the gels, lasers, light bridges and tractor beams were enough to justify a sequel.

Second we get a huge back story on the apature lab, and Third they took huge step forwards with the sequel a whole lot of new things to do to solve puzzles and amazing voice acting!

@mvenom101 I found it a little unsatisfying. There are still those unanswered questions that arise in the game like the time travel piece. Cave johnson mentions time travel. There's also the piece about how long Chell was out, and if it was long enough for night to turn to day. Valve has mentioned Portal 3, and it won't work without Chell. It's like Half Life without Gordon Freeman.

@mvenom101 So did I, yet not. Sure, it felt like something was missing, but really, the whole idea of it ending by throwing Wheatly into space, really couldn't have gone better. If you had not found GLaDOS in the lower levels of Aperture, she would have never found out that she was Caroline, thus not able to restore her morality, which you destroyed in Portal 1. The ending story also quite clearly point it out, that she still doesn't like you, but now she just wants to move on.
