  • That's the difference between a $150 GPS and a $500 unit. When paying $500 you'll get a lot of bells and whistles including maps worthy of using. I also question the enormous price of some of these maps. It seems they have the attitude of if you want it, you'll pay. But is there an alternative?

But seriously, a good lesson learned I hope. First find out what you need and do your homework. And as always for navigation, learn how to use a map and compadd first.

  • man problem is you haven't researched what's available and what you buy. so your fault. your gps haves only 24mb onboard, no memory card slot. not mentioning 14hrs battery life. i got eTrex Legend HCx - no onboard mem, but mem.card slot. memcard was included in the box, but for few more bucks i got bigger one. got official Toronto and other cities maps from Garmin $10 each. contain city roads, trails, POI. i also go geocaching. i simply love the unit! 25hrs bat.life. i'm not gonna buy newer soon

  • take an open source map, and put the .img data in a folder called: garmin

and then put the folder on a micro sd card and then in your venture
