  • is the lens that comes with it good?

  • good enough.

  • good enough for panning and things like that?

  • Well, I've done panning before with the lens so yes.

  • Yes thanks))

  • I want to buy such camera, but I am am confused that in it only with 6 megapixels.

  • 6 megapixels is fine for me. It's not that bad, especially because I don't do much cropping. Maybe a D60 or D80 (I recommend the D80 over the D60) would suit you better though.

  • so fast answer))))))

megapixels strongly influence a photo? Or they only for photo expansion?

  • Megapixels don't matter as much as the quality of the sensor and especially the lens. (and of course the photographer's technique). A bad lens with 12 megapixels will give worse results (much worse...) than a great lens with 6 megapixels.

  • ok thx,i will buy this shit)))))))))))))

  • lol.. glad I could help.

  • and also, if you're a beginner buy the d40.. you'll find the d80 complicated..

  • not exactly true. megapixel does matter. that being said, a good lens does go farther than megapixels, but thats not to say the 6.0 mp sensor on the d40 is a big weakness, cause it is. I would see if the d40x is being sold on ebay if I were you (unless you already bought the d40)

  • GETTING IT FOR CHRISTMAS (:

  • Much as I love my D40... Nikon need to learn a thing or two about how to package their products from Apple

  • I agree.. look at the Flip Video by pure digital. It resembles and is like the apple box. However, its really not about the package. more about the contents.

  • I love photography!!!!I getting one soon!!

  • Chinese guy? Where?

  • Your well resist he aint chinese...

  • r-a-c-i-s-t

  • Jeeeez, what a RESIST!!!

  • *envy*

hehe. im still saving up for my D40.

im gonna make an unboxing vid too.

  • I Know The Feeling Dude, Im Saving Too.

  • aha, I'm saving aswell.

  • I love watching these unboxings. So mundane in one sense and yet also so exciting!

I've got the D40. FANTASTIC camera (and I've owned a few over the years!). Now I'm thinking about the SB600 Speedlight (yes, I know you've unboxed that too). Can you recommend it??

  • Definitely. I hardly take a picture without it now. (Unless its at school where I don't bring my flash with me).

Much better than the pop up and the SB-600, when used off camera, can result in really nice and creative shots. Go for it :)

  • My SB600 Speedlight came today - NEXT day delivery! first impressions from the few test shots taken -- AWESOME!! :-)

  • P.S. I've been humming this bloody song non-stop for THREE days, thanks to you!! What is it? Who is it by?? Certainly gets in your head!! :-)

  • I don't have any idea who its by or the title, but if you shoot me a PM with your email I'll send it over.

  • i have been using my D40 for 1 year now and shoot about 10000 pictures with it and still runing fine, and i'm very satisfied with it, it works well. But now it's time to upgrade :D to the nikon d300.

    nice unboxing :D

    Sorry for bad english

  • congrads on the new camera! just got mine last week and i love it :) be sure to post some pics that u take with it!

  • hey what's the name of the tune playing? It's pretty catchy.

  • Nice, just ordered mine from Amazon today, they still have the $100 deal. Buy the D40 w/ a 55-200mm, 55-200mm VR, or a 70-300mm VR and get $100 off your order. It's a terrific deal that I think lasts through the end of June.

  • You're going to absolutely love it :)

  • I can't wait! lol

  • I hope I´ll do same thing soon. =)

  • Hey! I'm about to buy this model.. does it worth it?? It's gonna be my first reflex, and i preffered to but this model instead the eos rebel xti .. because i have seen pictures, and even with low iso values the noise is clearly visible.. and i have seen pictures taken with this nikon and are almos noiseless .. im expecting, the delivery should be here at friday i'm exited.

Sorry my bad english but i'm from mexico :)

  • I certainly love this camera, the only downside is the lack of a focus motor, so it will not autofocus on other lenses (lenses labeled "AF-S" will autofocus). I don't mind manually focusing with one of my lenses, though. (Its a good skill to have anyway). I was also thinking about the Canon XT (not XTi) and when I held it, it dug into my hand, and the D40 felt much better. The reason this camera has less noise is that it has less megapixels, the pixels on the sensor are spaced farther apart.

  • nice video although it would have been better if you actually unwrapped the camera/lens

    :)

  • yeah I was way too excited.. sorry xD.

  • Not to be a fag but if you were excited wouldnt you want to see the actual camera and lens and what they look and feel like in ur hands

i know i did when i got my Olympus camera ai almost dropped it

    :)

  • Well I was excited to open it and since it wasn't exactly comfortable to lean over like that, I had opened it off camera and left the camera (recording) kept going until I remembered about it again.

  • Cool music. Does anybody know anything about it? Thx

  • havn't you got anyhting better to do, my D40 is taking pictures not being taken out of boxes!

  • I've taken 6,000 pictures since I got the camera. This only took, what, 10 minutes? Good thing for anonymity on the internet, huh? I doubt you would say that in real life.

  • I agree with David .

  • ok dear calm down, i was just as exited as you to unwrap my camera ok?

  • this video makes me happy!

  • :). I was very happy :D.

  • Lets see a quote from down below.

"Un-boxing videos are great because it shows a potential buyer exactly what they are getting, i got a lot out of this video and i hope to get one of these cameras soon."

    :).

  • you are so lucky, great video!!!

  • :) thanks.

  • perhaps you aren't old enough to have this camera yet if you have to fucking tape the box opening.

  • lol.

  • On second thought, maybe you aren't old enough to be on the internet if your account got closed within 23 hours of that post.

  • At least I can spell. Rofl. I don't see why you wasted.. 30 seconds of your life to type that up. Go outside and take some pictures or something.

  • Un-boxing videos are great because it shows a potential buyer exactly what they are getting, i got a lot out of this video and i hope to get one of these cameras soon.

  • does it come with a memory card or do you have to buy it seperate

  • Separate. It uses an SD card, I had two SD cards before I got this camera. My 2 GB card was 20 bucks.

  • mygod what song is this, i neeed to know!!! ;D

  • Dunno the name, I can email you it though.

  • Awesome video, I cannot wait until i order my camera, at 15 years old, it's hard to save up for a DSLR and ride BMX at the same time. Money eating hobbies.

  • go ahead and laugh you guys, I want you to.

But while watching this vid, I started tearing up. I want mine that bad. but everytime I get close to saving up enough, someone finds some reason to take my savings from me. ok my sob story is over. good vid. that thing is so awesome!

  • wen i opened mine there was no manuals software or warrenty so no paperwork sigh ;(

  • Thats odd, I'd return it for a new one. Where did you get yours?

  • jessops

  • I got my D40 back in June. I now also have a 55-200 vr lens. Definitely a great camera and it's the kind of camera where newbies to the whole SLR scene can grow with.

  • hey would you mind telling me if it is easy to install and quick to use after you unbox it? lol, when i had my old digital camera took me 2 hours to figure it out...

  • Yeah its pretty easy to put the lens on. I've researched this camera a lot, so yeah, its been easy to use right away, even in manual mode.

  • A few more questions if you don't mind lol. does it come with a program? and are the menus like, changing camera settings or going from "picture taking" mode to "viewing picture" mode easy?

    thanks :D

  • It comes with PictureProject. Personally I don't use it, actually I haven't even installed it. What do you mean by "are the menus like, changing camera settings"? You're in picture taking mode all the time, you press a button on the back, top left, to get to "viewing mode". If you have AIM, IM me at DavidDivineD.

  • i've been watching the price drop since around may/june. i think it was 699 CAD for the d40 + kit lens. it's now currently 519 CAD for the same thing.

thank god nikon canada is dropping their prices because of the crumbling US economy (although it's safe to say canada will soon follow).

  • its not due to the US dollar newb, its lowering the price because the d40x was released and is to replace the d40...

  • the d40x was released a very long time ago. nikon only officially reduced the price of the d40 recently, but even then, it wasn't by too much. the kit was 699 in july, and 519 currently.

nikon usa is clearly trying to match prices with the canadian economy.

  • the more of these d40 unboxing videos i watch, the more i can't wait to get mine.

  • haha, I love this camera, its absolutely awesome. No shutter lag, manual controls, instant turn on, amazing.
