This is a beautiful classic Khmer old school song from the 60s. Chompa is a white flower found all over Cambodia, but the title of the song is referencing a beautiful Khmer girl I from Battambang. I was surprised to learn that the song writer was inspired by my aunt Vandy Tan at the time because she was so young and beautiful and living in Battambang at the time that he wrote this song for her. Famous Khmer singer "Sinn Si Samouth" sang it and became an instant classic.
This guy is very good singing this son , so i put him at #2 , and we already knew who at #1 is may god blessed his soul , So this guy is the best right now a live. Thank you , for upload this wonderful song
good that modern singers sing master sin si samouth songs, even tho they cant be compared 2 him. bcoz by doin' so they pay hommage 2 the master & contribute 2 the keepin' of his memories alive.
*.* Dis song is so lovely!! I really really love dis song so much since I was young n I live there Battambang is a beautiful city n KaraokeKhmer thank u so much na 4 posting dis song I really really appreciated ~ THANK U ~ *.*
Muk's version is all about fun but nothing professional.
Anyway, I do think it's great that foreigners take an interest in khmer's music especially for old singers. Hopefully, their music will someday spread to the whole world. They deserved much better treatment !
Oh this is a good song! N thank you for having the summery for what the song is about, because to be honest i don't really understand half of the khmer songs im listening to lol =P
altho modern renditions aren't as "piruous" as sin si samouth's originals, it's good that modern singers sing his songs, because by doin' so they pay homage 2 him & contribute 2 the keepin' of his memories alive.
Like many others who will agree, this song made people took interest when the Muk guys performed it with their own melody to it. Otherwise, its just another old khmer song...
I would have to disagree that this song is "just another Khmer oldie." Perhaps it is true that the younger generation became aware of this song when Muk sang it. However, this song is enjoyed by alot of older people, especially those from Battambang.
I saw Samdech Ta Sihanouk sing this on TV while I was in Cambodia. It is a famous classic, and was always so even before Muk sang it.
As you can see, my whole video collection is non-originals. I do have the originals on DVD, but the audio quality isn't as good like most of Simouth's songs. But you are right, no one can match his golden voice. This version is pretty good though. It is sung by Pain Panen.
the original sin sisamouth version is so much better...

So you're saying Muk's cover is better than the original by Sin Sisamouth?

Yes, I think so.

dolomite51,
this song in the original sin si samouth version is a part of the cambodian psyche.
your:
"this song made people took interest when ..."
should be corrected 2:
"this song made some young (added: some young) people take (not took) interest in it (added: in it) when ...".

You could put King Sihanou at #1, Because he sung this same song on UTUBE too ? LoL
