@cstylewit1 you can shoot video with some of the filters but they'll alway be choppy. the way to fix it is to just shoot your video with no fliters and add the effects like pinhole when your editing your video. its what i did when making this video.

Love the video, However, Not to discredit this video, every video I've seen so far sampling the quality of this particular Olympus model I've noticed, despite the 720p upgrade the footage still seems to look a tad grainy, a far contrast to that of the Sony NEX series. Is it just me or am I on to something that someone else may have also noticed?

diorama filter is in software(of the cam) ? so it's like canon's miniature effect ?

I thought diorama was some filter you add to lens

@jellowfx yes sir. its a software filter built in the camera. U can add a real diorama effect but it will cost u a pretty penny for those lenses.

Very good video, considering getting this camera soon! However, I just read a review which said the maximum recording time for HD Video is 7 minutes! Does this mean that I can only record a total 7 minutes of video or does it mean I can record lots of clips that are a maximum of 7 minutes long?

@BlancettModeling um depends on the lens. if you have really good ones then ya should be fine for film projects. its cause of the diorama effect and standard zoom lens that came with it cause it to look all choppy. if u shoot regularly its pretty smooth but has a little angle shift when u turn really fast while filming

@Caripukis course, yet theres couple flaws but its a great beginning camera. if your just wanting to take quality point and shoot pictures and video, then this cam is just what your looking for. its light weight and you could interchange different kinds of lenses on this camera but all manual focus.

You were able to edit this in iMovie? I bought one of these cameras about a month ago and cannot import the AVI files from it into Adobe Premiere (6.5) or Sony Vegas (7.0). I never installed the software from the CD that comes with it. I just connect the camera via the usb cable, and drag the video files onto my desktop. Is there some type of conversion or compression that needs to take place before I can manipulate my HD videos with my existing video editing software? Or do I need new software?

This camera is completely worth the money. To answer the questions about the allowed time span of a video, it depends on the size of your card.

Were you using effects on this footage, because everything looked fake, or toy-like. The effect is really cool, so was this just manual focus and stop motion, or did you use After Effects?

@xXknifeAnoobXx ya i used the diarama or tilt shift art filter that the e-pl1 built in and used pinhole effect using imovie. also used manual focus on the standard lens which isn't that easy haha to many rotations.

But if you have the money i would go for the EP2 because the EPL-1 lacks in navigating through the menu and shooting in manual. You dont have that dial to easily set your shutter speed. Also the viewfinder is sold separate and you get more features from the EP2. The EPL1 is a great beginning camera thats light weight and fun/easy to use.

@elpheal just tested the length of HD and Standard video mode. HD runs for 7min 26sec and Standard runs 14min 32sec. Hope this helps

@demonicdemon01 saves in AVI format. File size can be the length of your SD Card. if your intending to film something quite long i would suggest a 16gb sd would give you a lengthy footage.

Its choppy on the screen cause i guess the epl1 can't handle the effect in real time. therefore, when you shoot video with this filter its choppy as well. In my video you could see a little bit of that pin hole effect. i used imovie to add it in when editing the video.

@kcabal Thanks, I was so disappointed that the "Pin Hole" effect wouldn't work smoothly in video mode. This would save me so much time with editing if I could just use the filter and upload videos right from the camera. Maybe in the next version of the camera it will be better. from being a step down from its older counter parts...im impressed with the quality video and pictures right out of the box. ive never messed with E-P1/2 so i cant really compare. hopefully ill be getting new lenses soon i only have the standard 14-42mm :/

np. im pretty sure it its possible to go both ways. ive only tried the card slot way. you cant just drag and drop it into imovie. you have to go through "file/import/movies...then search for your avi file on your sd card to import. should work. works for me.
