This is so amazing. Cranberries under water? We have them here in Europe too but they grow in the forest. Wet forest yes but not under water. True, i never went to pick them myself to know how it is exactly. By the way i love the music. What is it? And what is that Enya song called?
The cranberries are only harvested under water.... the water allows them to float to the surface after the berries are beaten off the bush. They grow in dry bogs. ;)
Actually, a bog is dry until it's flooded at the harvest. The sprinklers keep the cranberries from getting damaged with frostbite by putting a protective coating of ice over it. See, learn something new every day! ;)
Some really powerful images here. What a wonderful place. Your photography is a joy to view. AND you were featured on Cat and Funny like me, so you must be okay!! Best wishes. Dan =:D
More proof that you should be a professional photographer! Fantastic images... I love the duck swimming in cranberries... and I found the frog ::grins:: Seriously, you should be working for some magazine.... Loved the music, too!
I know it was a wee bit long winded, but it was 10 hours of pickin! My favorite was the ice in the morning. I'm glad you liked it, darlin. Made my day.
Great images as always Gert. :) I used to pick strawberries as a kid- I ate as many as I picked. Of course you'd hobble back home, with aching back and red mouth in time for dinner and what did you get for dessert? Strawberries! :) I love the images around the 1.30sec mark; the red *cranberry* sea.
See what 10 hours in a bog can produce? Most are just surprised this is NJ! Scotland's next, darlin (silly) Think I could make a buck if I got my act together and sold a few?
Sure! But then, what do I know? They certainly look very professional.. and I say that sincerely and not in a blowing-sugar-up-your-ass kind of way. :-)
ok, so I've run out of time and didn't manage to see all of this but what I did see was great, a very relaxing start to my holiday. I'll watch the rest when I get back :)
I think wherever it is, (lol) it's lovely...it's beautiful music also..I LOVE CRANBERRIES... I make my own sauce ( the secret is a bit of orange rind)!!!xoxo Nancy

Why are you irrigating your crop with sprinklers? Isn't it a wet enough already, being a BOG?
