Very nice presentation of training progressive neuromuscular response. Those who do not understand Systema training methodology are not understanding correct level of analysis. Anyone can argue the minutiae, but training in a pressured state is lacking is most martial arts training these days. Training from compromised to confidence and control is the emotional progression in real combat. Thanks for posting!
Most brutal and effortless martial art I have ever seen. For example, it takes you just a few movements to take the enemy down. Greetings from Serbia!
@parkourhellas no, they are not idiots and one of them dealt with a knife wielding mugger very recently. So sorry but you are mistaken. You get points for liking Bill Hicks though.
As it is said that in a knife fight, more than likely you WILL be cut, it's better to mentally prepare yourself to relax and have a better chance of minimizing damage to yourself and maximizing it to your enemy.
Not more than likely, you're getting cut no question about it. If the person has a basic knowledge on how to utilize a knife attack, nothing short of body armor or a blade proof shield will save you.
I agree, exercises like this more or less teach you to limit the damage and possibly disarm the assailant.
They do however fail to have an attacker hold the knife the most effective grip for slashing which would render these techniques essentially useless.
try all this stuff you do....with crazy attackers and see the worst case scenario with full attacks...and see how many knifes (put lipstick on it...) you can get to your bodies with this escapes....and then lets talk again about what is real in the real world and what"s not...or what works or what not....
I assume your first language is not english, so you can understand that I do not understand what you are saying.
Those drills are meant for not only evasion, but to minimize the damage taken. I would rather risk a small cut, have them in my range and disarm them, then risk a full on stab or slash attempting to get them in my range.
escapes from potential knife attack doesn't necessarly mean to use force to disarm it. systema teaches u , natural reactions against such attacks, that's why if u attend any class, they don't teach u 1,2,3 steps to disarm , but they guide u into using ur natural reaction against an attack, if for instance u are wearing a hat and u face up with someone with a knife , ur hat is kind of a defensive weapon ,it's risky but u throw it on his face and within few sec what u feel comfy u use it to disar
Nice - I can see the value in those drills. Loose and relaxed though they are. I have a fair bit of experience of knives...especially in the real world...I can see why the drills in this vid would work. Good stuff.
Okay, so the wide majority of this is obviously just drills to make the techniques that other knife defense workshops teach you actually work. The first drill involves developing sensitivity to an oncoming knife, others teach handwork, ect. Also, anyone who's not at least a little defensive when the other person has a knife is an idiot. We can't all hollywood flip them and kill them with their own knife.
Once I had a chance to practice with some famous aikido master. He told us one important IMHO thing. "It is good to know and lern some difficulty things.Becouse Simple things can anyone do". Thats why systema seems to me very interesting :)
All original Warrior Arts look similiar, just aparel and weapons are different. The body hasnt changed much since the dawn of humanity, so why should fighting with your body? Great stuff, but they should wear eyeprotection for the faster drills..

as always: MANY THANKS for posting, great stuff.
and ignore those keyboard-hitters ;)
as long as they don`t test systema personally, they don`t deserve an answer.(no, i`m not a systema man, i only took a seminar and it was superb.)
