  • Man, I had such trouble with that game. I'm not sure I ever got out of the ship. It was really tough, although I'd love to try it today. I think I still have my IBM 5 1/4 floppy version.

  • This looks amazing for the time it was made! I've been interested in 3D graphics on computers like these, as it looks impressive to see what they can do.

  • you done a great job

  • Thought of porting this to the iPhone? Retroware is hot right now.

  • @mgabrysSF

Actually, yes. I have all of the code, but would need to revamp the UI. Interestingly enough, I don't have the map editor anymore, so I can't edit them - though I can load them.

  • @davidasmith3d Maybe you could recreate the game in a modern engine?

  • Amazingly smooth 3D - you came up with some brilliant optimisations.

  • This was THE MOST favorite game I ever had on my old Mac Plus. Thanks for sharing to the world David! What I wouldn't love to is go back and play this again and actually finish the game! But alas, I'm not sure where my code sheet is anymore.

  • "Get a job, move out of your parent's basement!" :)

Not sure if that was in all versions, but I found it in the Amiga version.

  • Hi David - thank you for this. I played this on my Mac SE back in 1990 for countless hours - loved it. It was by far my favorite game on the Mac for years. Thanks for sharing your behind the scenes commentary.

  • Holy awesome. I found out about this game via a Mac emulator on my iPod Touch. It's awesome. Nice work David!

  • Juan Benito (atomic games) referenced this in his presentation at the Triangle Game Conference. It is really incredible what you have done.

I wonder if the power of current hardware has led us to see less of this "revolutionary use of resources"

  • Your game was an extraordinary inspiration to me, and gave me the notion to create a product now under development for car safety and beyond.

When ultimately the product is released, I will give you full credit for its germination, as the conceptual thinking that was made possible by The Colony was deeply helpful. Thank you so very much. skirkboulter

  • That was interesting, thank you very much... :)

  • Thanks! It was fun writing it. Maybe I will do another one someday.

  • Wow, way ahead of its time! I used to play around with Virtus Walkthrough all the time when I was little...I loved it!

  • I remember this game as a child, I actually still have the paper decoder, but the floppy was demagnetized at some point so I haven't been able to play it. :( Thanks for sharing!
