I can't say I'm that keen on this phase of Kenny G's music although there were really fuckin' amazing moments between bass and drums. But have you heard Kenny Gorelick in The Jeff Lorber Fusion? Wow, far from the cheese he got famous for. Fair play to him.
i think hes influence is Mark King of Level42. or he looks like usin same style but with the humping added XD mark king is better i think. and ryan martinie is even more better XD the guy could do this with pure improvision i think ^^ but good basist :=) awesome
Well actually i cant compare them but if you would have to choose wich one is best i would choose that way... but well the best part is that neither one of those plays bass with pick so... its great :=) respect.. pick is for guitars xd
@KamiDisturbed That's your subjective opion. As for playing with pick. That's just one of the techniques. It's good to know different techniques because it gives youa bigger tonal spectrum. Don't limit yourself to just one type of sound. Explore. Peace.
That drummer can really wack those drums for a fat bloke.
Sorry, that's not politically correct - He's a stout drummer, I mean he knocks out some fat grooves, some fat beats, heavy rythyms. He's a heavyweight.

I'm a big fan of Les, Primus, and The Holy Mackerel. The two music styles are very different, but I must say that generally across the board, jazz is more difficult and those who play it are more inventive in their improv. Although its close, my money is with Vail.
Saw Vail play a few times at the Studio Cafe in Newport back in the '90's. Red P-Bass. Sitting right in front of him. Absolutely astonishing talent and a really nice guy.
Beautiful solo, not crazy about that tone tho, sounds great for slapping, but sounds too trebbley for my taste when he plays with his fingers the normal way.
@subatom101 This is a Kubuki X Factor Bass. Fender bought them out some years back and when they did thats when Stu Hamm went to playing Fenders because they started using some of those Kubuki designs in pickups and preamps

So i watched a gay porno the other day and i think you are the guy in the second scene with the goat. I'm not sure but if you are will you please let me know because I want to come out and kill you. Thanks faggot.
For my taste, he hits the neck pickup quite often (the short, hi-pitched note you might have experienced to hear) - anyway, he's great, plus it's comforting to see he puts his pants on one leg at a time. :)
I was being whimsical, humorous, amusing, funny (delete as appropriate) in an english kind of way.You wacky brazilians !!! Thanks for the offer but no need for a drawing. By the way we need to thank the french for the lovely word "derriere".
All right. I don't know how to speak french anyway, but I suspected about that word's etymology. So next time you try to be humorous, try to be it in a way not to ridicularize someone in it's culture like you did, ok? It was not intentional, I recognize. But be always careful. Kiss 'n' kall me! (h)
In order to suck sugar cane and whistle simultaneously you require the use of two orifices......are you sure that's whistling you can hear from Vails derriere??
One of the best I've ever heard. You will become crazy if you watch to Cheiro de Vida's videos in youtube. This brazilian Jazz-Prog-Rock band is one of the schools of the technique used by Vail Johnson and Victor Wooten. It's worth watchin their videos. Watch and compare.
