I think they see that stunt as a badge of honour, even though it's arguable a lot of other formations would have never done it again after that.

I saw the Italian team a year or two after and was shocked that they still do the stunt. I love planes, airshows and the like but it always leaves me heart sick when something goes wrong. I have gone to a lot of shows in the USA and thankfully I have never had to see something like it.

My father and me planned to go there that day - but we didnt because I felt sick. I really couldnt believe missing the show because of me being sick - but when we finally heard ot the incident, we were shocked and glad at the same time.

As horrific as the accident was, it seems amazing that more people were not killed. From what I gather the plane hit the edge of the runway and tumbled into the crowd. Most of those that died were hit by debris and burning jetfuel. If the plane had fallen into the crowd and then rolled, the accident could have easily claimed more lives. Maybe I am wrong on this point.

I was standing in front of a beer tent just a few meters from where the plane landed... the stench of burnt human flesh and hair was sickening. When I saw both groups turn towards each other I had a sinking feeling in the pit of my stomach that something very bad was about to happen... I still have the clothes I wore that day with burn marks from the splashing fuel...

Oh man I got realy realy shocked by the video. I was there at this day, I was only 5 years old but I still know the inferno :( I had realy good luck because we left the place where the planes crashed only 5 minutes before. I saw pictures from things which stood next to me and which were all burned.....that was so horrible...I still have the blue picture book of this day where all the show elements, planes and pilots were shown...
