Is this thing fitted with a speed governor or some kind of rpm control device so that it can be used to run a generator at a constant frequency ? Also, why was it knocking so violently when it was initially started ?

@teslapower220 Like most Diesels it's governed pretty well ,and will hold it's rated RPM unless overloaded..the knocking sound comes from the high starting compression which is dropped when running using the changover valve...all direct injection Diesels knock to a certain degree...it gives them character!

when the gas/fuel goes up by 40% perhaps they might value one of these has anyone experimented running one of these by using gas produced by electrolisys ? as that comes for nothing then we can stick opur fingers up to the fuel oil and gas companies for sure

What's wrong with you guys? This is not supposed to be electric start, digital or modern. Listor motors are a work of art and you need to appreciate that and if you cant, don't post stupid comments like that. These are the most reliable and easy to fix engines in the world. If you keep them fueled they will run for ever... They will burn anything! fuel oil, corn oil, you name it, probably even KY.
