My finace' and I caught The Gumbo Twins Doug (accordion player/singer, Marc (guitar/washboard/singer and Gaby (bass guitar) at Smokin' Pete's BBQ in Ballard, Washington, and can honestly say we enjoyed their music as much as any group we've ever heard. They play honest, pure music without needing to dress it up with electronic gizmos....If you get a chance, find out where they're performing and go see 'em. Two new fans............Wes and Mary
Big Joe Turner would be happy to be sittin' in the audience while you performed this song. I'm a purist when it comes to my music, and your group is the only version other than Turner's that I will listen to. My family roots are in Louisiana, which explains why this California-born woman loves your music so much. (It's like going home.") Keep on truckin'.......Mary
Thanks for letting us know! Our version appears on the CD "The Early Years: Let The Good Times Roll." That's the earliest version of the band, but we still do the song today.
I did a search for this song because I like hearing my name sung... Of all the versions I've heard it by, I think I like this one the best! If you play in Seattle or anywhere in Western WAshington, it would be worth the trip for me!
It's my personal website that is the link there, but you'll find a link for Filé Gumbo at my site. We sell the CDs via Paypal, or can also take credit cards, though the site isn't set up for taking them, you could call on the phone or e-mail the details.
Thanks for your comment! Check out Filé Gumbo's more recent videos at my YouTube channel MBristol49, or at the band's Myspace page, which has some different ones!
Thanks! A live version of that song is on the Filé Gumbo CD "Let The Good Times Roll". The group also has 5 other CDs now, and there are several more recent videos on YOuTube and some different ones at the myspace page.
You know, you may be right that "Alberta" was the first version. I recently reviewed a CD which gave Big Joe Williams credit for writing the song "Corinna, Corinna", in a version that sounds like the one Bob Dylan did early on.
hi... good stuff here! want to more about that Cajun Power Sauce. We have a company here in South Louisiana and we manufacture the Cajun Power Garlic Sauce and about 70 more items! Are you guys using that as part of your show?? Always looking to connect! Thanks.. Beau
We worked every Tuesday for 15 years from 1987 to 2002 at the New Orleans Creole Cafe in Seattle's Pioneer Square. There was a bottle of your sauce on every table, and Doug tended to make a commercial for your product at the end of a set. Perhaps you'd like to hire us to do a radio commercial for you using that plus a bit of our music? We do have some original Louisiana style tunes. A commercial we made for Schucks/Kragens auto parts played for years on every baseball game, TV and radio.
AYEEEEEEEE YAAAAHHH!!! YOU GUYS ROCKED back then --- and you still do now, especially Doug on that Master Squeeze. And don't forget the Cajun Power Sauce.
Great rendition Of Corinna, Corinna. Like the way the singer's voice projects
and makes an old old song sound great.
