  • thank you. This new year I vow to stay positive and not worry about the small stuff.

  • damn good job bro ! have a merry christmas and a happy new year. enjoy your work of art. great job.

  • YOU CAN BILD A STACKED LUMBER CABIN USING 2X4S STACKED

AND NAILED FLAT SIDE DOWN ONE ON TOP OF THE OTHER. SAME WITH THE FLOOR AND ROOF. SAME WAY. THE WALL IS BASICALLY A BUILT UP LAMINATE BEAM. HOW WIDE A PIER SPACING DO YOU THINK YOU CAN GET USING AN 8FOOT THICK BEAM? IS ALSO LATERAL BRACING. A SUBSET OF CORN CRIB BUILDING. MY COST ESTIMATE IS ABOUT * A SQUAREFOOT ( FOOTPRINT) THAT PROBABLY THE VERY CHEAPEST BUILDING. POSIABLE AND IT IS STRONG WARM AND TAKES LITTLE SKILL OR TOOLS.

  • @bryncomeaux SORRY THAT S 8$ A SQUARE FOOT!!!

  • Awesome beard!

  • Cabins and Guitars are two things that a man can never have to many of.

  • @Rizward10

    Thanks!

  • @throwshoesatobama glad you came by.

  • wow..looks great :)

  • @ivanrogernz thanks for dropping by.

  • I'm jealous is all i can say....I found an old log cabin built 1840's era and the folks don't want to part with it. (and i don't blame them) haha

  • old cabins are getting really hard to find. Ours was on it's last leg when we did the first restoration. Check out my last video playing in the cabin. We use it every week. thanks for coming by.

  • GREAT.I WANT ONE

  • Hard to find but worth it when you do find one. Thanks for coming by the cabin.

  • excellent choice of music. I used to build log homes in deer vally utah.

  • Thanks for coming by. I like the music too. Somehow fits me to a T. I think Utah is a beautiful state and I need to go there again.

  • I've watched a number of videos on log cabin building and without a doubt, this video has pushed me over the edge. The combination of your specific project coupled with the music, you get 10 stars. I was born a yankee but rebel by choice....as my father said.....the next civil war, I am fighting for the south. Keep the rubber side down. God bless you.

  • @Ironboots123 Thanks for your wonderful comment. If your ever in the Ozarks write me and we'll get together and swap lies. thanks again.

  • man i wish i had a cabin like that,thank for sharing

  • glad ya came by for a visit.

  • Great job fellas. Thats a fantastic little cabin. She looks real cozy, and that fire place came out great too.

  • thanks. We'll be playing our guitars in it tonight.

  • This video is always enjoyable to listen to and watch at most times of the day.

It's well past my bedtime (02:30am London time) and this tune is going to settle me in for the rest of the night.

    Cheers! :)

    Rosanella :)

  • Thanks for dropping by. I haven't heard from you in a while. I'll be posting more new videos soon.

  • Dagnabbit, That's a mighty fine hideaway!!

Every man should have one of those. Well done!!

  • It's my man cave!

  • Beautiful place you have there, enjoy it always!

  • Best of the best man caves! Thanks

  • I really enjoyed watching the steps and hard work that went into the restoration of this wonderful cabin.

The stone work on the fireplace is exceptional. What a retreat! I'm still envious as all hell.

  • We ride our Harleys down in the hills of Arkansas and there is a little town named Fiftysix that has a CCC camp ground that was build back in the 30's and the stone work looked like even the kids helped out. I wanted the stone fireplace to look like that and it came out perfect. Where the fireplace is now, we put it in, was a door. We have often wondered how the 13 people that lived in the cabin stayed warm in the winter.

  • Fantastisc job!....its living history.

congratulations , your hard work is evident.

    its wonderfulnice

  • thanks, it makes a good man cave

  • thanks, there'll be a fire in the fireplace tonight!

  • very cool video...i really enjoyed this.....5 stars!

  • JD Powers and I will toast ya tomorrow night in the cabin. Thanks

  • great job !!!! from an old log cabin lover and primitve antique dealer and collector ....elsmarie

  • Thank you very much!

  • Awesome restoration! Great job!

  • It came out better than I could ever have expected.

    Thanks for looking.

  • Well, it sure is a great work of art and it's inspiring to see someone take something old and forgotten and bring it back to life.

  • I like the choices you've made. Keep on trucking. Good luck.

  • Thanks for looking.

  • help me find a piece of land near the GA line and near i-75 and I'll build me one of those cabin myself good luck on yours

  • Awesome! Beautiful job, if I could live in any house in the world I think it would be that one, it's perfect! I bet you really feel the hominess i guess you could say. You guys are cool!

  • Thanks, it does feel like home.

  • In person it's even more inviting! 13 were raised in this cabin and Alma was the youngest. That's where we got the name of the cabin. "Alma's"

  • Awesome!!! history.....

  • wow you guys worked your booties off...i see half a booty there lol:) this is so neat that you made a montage of the work in progress...great stuff! im sure you are so proud and everyone enjoys it so much:) alot of love went into this project:) i love the big ol front porch with the tree posts:) its just beautiful!:) hugs shelly

  • Oringinal was tin then cedar shake then back to a metal roof. Thanks.

  • GREAT JOB with reverence and old roof was shingle roof,am i right?but looks great i appreciate and big hand for workers.

  • thank you!

  • Beautiful! You did a great job on that cabin. It's wonderful that you got to meet someone that actually lived in the house and got to hear her stories. I'm sure that pleased her to see someone putting in such love to a home that meant so much to her. Thanks for sharing!

  • Great Job! It's too bad that more people don't understand what "labor of love" is these days!! I got one for ya.. I just got a pot belly stove or as they called it a cylinder stove. It was made in 1889. I decided the right thing to do was to build a 2009 cabin around the stove. I'll post a video up once I get started. I'm still in the blueprint stage. My plan is to have some of the 2009 luxuries in it and some of the things from the past. So far I think it will be a total of 756 sq. ft.

  • Glad you liked the cabin. Just remember to do your cabin the right way and don't take any short cuts. When your finished you'll have to post it so I'll be able to see it. Thanks!

  • Will do!

  • Awesome ,, Just being nosey, What state does it sit in.. That porch sure gives it that home feel.. I bought a log cabin one time that was removed from Land Between the Lakes, in Tennessee back in the 40s. I had big plans of rebuilding it on my property, But Trucking keeps you pretty busy and after several years I sold it for two hundred dollar's.. The wife posted it in the paper and a couple hour's later it was sold.. I didn't relize how much they sold for at the time..

  • We're in Ozark county , Missouri. Thanks for looking and I hope you get to build one, one of these days!

  • I'm in the process of building a smithy and recently got into blacksmithing. .. I may have to make you something for the cabin, How far do you live from the Big road {interstate} Shipping is way to high. and me being a OTR truckdriver,, I get around...Tom

  • i always wonderd just whot santa did the rest of the year haha i never put him down as a builder though haha i shouldnt have put that he might take me of his list sorry im done now just fun any im in england and unless he realy is santa im safe haha lovely cabbin and music hope you live there as long as you like good luck bye from yorkshire

  • actually the cabin is next to my home on a lake in the Ozarks. 13 people lived in the cabin built in 1890. And now you know where Santa spends his summers!

  • im realy sorry i had to say it it made me giggle like a school girl and im a 35 year old farm hand man but 13 peaple in that tiny house thats dedication or was it realy cold up there in them days haha still you did a good job all the best

  • back in those days a lot of people had big families. They were very poor and raised horses and the dad died when Alma the youngest was 4 years old. Her mom raised the 11 kids on her own. We named the cabin Alma. She's in the first of the video. She came by to see the old cabin 33 years ago. She passed away 3 years ago and buried about 3 miles from here along side the rest of her family that lived in the cabin.

  • i sent you a thing on the freinds mail thing but where i come from my gran had 14 kids she raised 6 but most lived to about 4 or 5 some older when they were babys they never had cribs i think you call them so they all whent in drawers she used to say if they cryed she justed shut the drawer haha its nice she got to rest with her family the lady from your house and im glad you got to hear her storys old storys like that are the best dont you think haha

  • Thanks! You'll have a blast. Just hang in there and do it right with no short cuts. That's Charlie Daniels singing.

  • Great restoration! I'm going out this spring to try my hand at this from scratch, not sure what to expect yet =D Who's that singing and playing?

  • You've done an A-One job on the cabin! I live in one here in Arkansas but your's beats mine. The joint work on the 1890 is much better than on my 1990 model. :)

  • Thanks for the comment. Best thing I've ever done!

  • nice job, especially the fireplace, just keep the wiener dog away from the the Buds.

  • Can't keep the wieners out of the cabin, but I can keep the Buds out of the wieners! Thanks for dropping by the cabin.

  • Great Job 1890cabin. I have a little cabin in the woods too. No electric, Wood stove. Propane lights, Outhouse. we call it the TGH ( Tough Guy Hotel ) Wouldnt trade it for the world. Enjoy your time there. You earned it!

  • thanks jonf1023, nothin like havin your own cabin to get away from it all.

  • Nice place to get together and do some pickin' and grinin' and drinkin' and tokin'! I really like that first song!! My friends and brothers use to get together drinkin playin' poker and sing that song to the top of our lungs!! LOL Probly heard it only once since I left Missouri and moved to California. Brought back some good memories. Thanks

  • Well if you ever get back this way the beer is always cold and the blues fills the cabin. thanks SirChadwic for dropping by!

  • excellent work, truly fine craftsmanship and the quality photo journaling made the video fun to watch. My cabin is a 17th century period saddle notcher and I also went with a modern roof.

  • You really got something there; God Bless!

  • On every Tuesday night a fire is lit and 3 of my friends and I play guitars in this old cabin. Sometimes till the sun comes up. Thanks for you comment.

  • Here is a skill that will be coming back into vogue real damn quick. Thanks congress..next time kiss me first.

  • Mission Accomplished Boys! What a beauty she is! What a perfect place to pick some good ole' bluegrass music! When's the next party?

  • Thanks for the comment. We had one last night. In fact we have an outdoor movie screen,25ft., that I hung between two trees and put speakers on poles for surround sound. You can see the poles in my deer video.

  • I love the song, is that you guys singing and playing?

  • That's Charlie Daniels. Thanks for coming by.

  • Cabin didn't have a fireplace before. Yes we put one in and it's in the end of the video. You have to wait a few seconds for it to play so watch it again and see. Thanks!

  • I think its great that old Cabbins like this are being restored instead of torn down! Its a part of history!!!!

  • Me being from the Netherlands only know these

    places from movies.

Great vid, great history, great job, good music, wished I'd lived nearby, I'd invite myself to a Shiner.

(Thanks for commenting on Screwed in 3/4 Time)

  • Well since ya can't be here, I'll drink one for ya! or 2,6 or 12

  • Great job! I wish I could say I'd been a part of helping out. Really.

And have a Shiner beer on tap for me when I show up!

  • I could of used you on the 150 wheelbarrows of dirt I had to tote down the back yard hill 50 yards away!

  • I built my own shed about 12 years ago but if i had the property you had it would of been a cabin/combo workshop like you have. I like to sit in it with the door open when the rain is pourin' down. Peace.

  • funny that's what I like doin too.

  • i could do that!

  • i want to live here

  • you'll have to go fetch the buttermilk if you intend to stay long.

  • OH Man its looks awesome. I hope u belt out some serious blues in that baby. how long did it take!!! FIVE STARS

  • Thanks for the comment. 2 1/2 years. I had to tear down an old barn 35 miles away for some of the wood. The nails I used are steel flat head nails that are about a hundred years old.

  • WOW>>>>>SUCH A WONDERFUL JOB!....just when i thought you had out done yourself you went a put a fireplace........i watched the video twice.

    A+

  • I thank you very much. It turned out 10 times better than I would have ever expected. We stomped our feet to Iron Mike Norton's music the other night so hard that I think the cabin sunk a foot!

  • Wow, great job in restoring the ol'girl! What a difference u lot made! The dog looks chuffed too lol!

  • ain't nuttin like gettin a touch of the past back. great job, thanks for party C&C.

    Pat in the hat.

  • A total class act; and work of art.

Thanks for welcoming us this weekend - what a treat. Really cool to see this video of the history of the place. Hope to make it back this summer and see you guys again.

Peace - Pat & Lynn Kempen

  • Thirteen people lived in this cabin. Alma in the video was the youngest, picture taken in 1978,and was 70. Her dad raised horses and died when she was 4 and the mom raised the 11 kids alone.

  • What a terrific video! A true labor of love and it makes my heart so glad to see these old cabins made livable again.
