kickass- the bulk of Sudanese oil profit is put into military production rather than domestic necesities like a health system, roads, aid for the needy, etc... China, and whoever buys oil from Sudan, is helping fuel the atrocities in Darfur. Yes, African countries need profit to improve but unfortunately, many military regimes are preventing the distribuition of these funds. Khartoum is simply using their oil funds to kill the non-Arabs in Darfur.

as for sudan itself, do you know that there are many rebel groups involved? Some of these groups that have popped up have nothing to do with either the Sudanese government or the "Africans." In other words, these groups are not backed by the Sudanese government. These groups are all trying to seek control of the darfur region.

The U.N. and Mia Farrow should stop pressuring China to send troops to Darfur. Many of these soldiers are from one-child families due to efforts of the Chinese gov't to curb the growth of its population. Imagine telling people that they can only have one child, and now imagine telling them that, their only child will have to go to Darfur and risk getting killed in order to save the lives of other people. Please show some compassion to the parents of these soldiers.

Patriot1775: I don't know how much oil china buys from sudan, but I do know that whatever they bought, they PAID FOR. I'm sure sudan didn't give them the oil for free. Africa is now experiencing an economic boom, ONE reason for the boom is that china buys from them. it sounds as if you are saying that sudan is doing china a huge favor by selling them their oil. They SELL them the oil, meaning that there is exchange of money. MONEY is what Africa needs to move forward and to escape poverty.

I believe the future is in the hand of africans, the future or failure depends on their own actions, nobody else. In everybodies past, peoples were divided along tribal lines.
